Create My Kingdom: Chapter 6

4 years later

Samuel:

Now that I've turned five I seem to have a lot more freedom around the house. I'm allowed to go outside, I'm allowed to play around the house, and best of all I'm allowed to see Clarissa, or better known as Symphonia in this world. Ever since the day of her parents coming over to our house her and I have been inseparable. When she and I had our fifth birthday I could feel what could only be described as a rope snapping and a faint whisper of "Good luck".

Looking back on our conversation with the being known as God to this world. I asked for three gifts as did Symphonia. The three things I asked for was the ability to bestow magic onto inanimate objects, increased endurance, and the ability to use magic. Symphonia asked for the ability to walk undetected, speak with flora and fauna, and have bonds with wild animals. These three gifts that each of us asked for would be used to increase our chances at creating a kingdom.

The one thing I didn't take into consideration was when I asked to be able to use magic I would still have to learn how to use it. I can feel things like mana swirling in and around me, but when I tried to use it I did so without much success. If I think of an image of a fire dancing in the palm of my hand a little spark will flutter about.

Everyday when Symphonia and I go out to play we're increasing the aptitude with our gifts. I go out into the woods and play around with magic. I can feel the mana being swirled into the palm of my hand to make that little spark move. When I close my eyes and increase the clarity of the image of that fire I can feel the heat increase in my palm. However the second I open my eyes it dies down to that of a simple little spark. After several attempts it has grown from a little spark to that of a tiny little fire. No bigger than that of a match after freshly being struck.

Due to the perk of having increased endurance I don't feel tired after using magic the entire day, but my head does hurt after a long day in the woods. I remember reading stories of people being sent to other worlds and them having it easy at using such amazing gifts. Whoever thought that was the case is just plain stupid. After a full day being in the woods my little spark turned into a fire the size of a match. The following day I decided to try and switch from fire to water. Maybe changing the element would make it easier to work with. This time instead of creating water like I did with the fire I went to a flowing babbling brook. I thought long and hard about the image of a singular droplet of water being lifted from the river. After much time passing small little pellet size shapes began to lift from the water's surface. Just lifting the water droplets seemed to take a considerable amount of energy from me.

Not even after a few hours of doing that an ear splitting headache began to emerge from behind my eyes. I decided to call it a day there and watch Symphonia having a fairly easy time with her gift. The ability to communicate with animals seemed to come naturally to her. I could see birds flitting about her, squirrels dodging between her legs. She looked like a small little wood nymph. I sat down and watched her for what seemed like hours until I could barely see the sun in between the leaves of the trees.

While walking home I asked her, "Do you really think we can do it? Start a nation I mean."

I glanced at her sideways through my eyes not really wanting to see her reaction.

"We have to." That was all she said on the topic while we walked back in silence.

After a few months of practicing with our gifts I was finally able to make a tiny little ball of water rise up from the surface of the brook, but I didn't feel satisfied with the pace of me learning magic. I hopped from water to fire, but none felt satisfying.

I was playing with my little spark of fire when the idea popped into my head. I have Bestowel magic. What if I put the magic in to make a tiny little lighter? I quickly grabbed a small little rectangular rock and poured my all into turning it into the image of a lighter. I waited until I saw the rock light up a bright burning red and dimmed down until just the top was a dim glowing red. It seemed like the process was complete. I poured in a little bit of magic and boom there lay in front of me a glorious little red flame. The energy it required was much less as well.

"Symph come here quick!" I yelled. She ran over to me and stared at my little creation I had come up with.

"Do you think I can do the same thing?"

I quickly handed her my little lighter and she grasped it within her hands. I could tell by her squinting eyes that she was focusing hard and BOMPH a tiny little fire sputtered to life. She squealed at the prospect that she used magic and stared at her flame as she bounced around in excitement.

Even though everyone had mana within them not everyone had the ability to make that manifest itself, and since she never asked God for the ability to use magic it seemed like she was amongst the unlucky larger populace who couldn't use their mana.

"What else can you make, Sam?"

"I don't even know yet…" I sat there perplexed at the wondrous ability to bestow magic onto objects. What else besides a little lighter would be handy. You need fire to cook food, stay warm, and stay comfortable. What else does one need in order to live? Water. You can't live without water. What if I made a never ending supply of water?

"What if I make a water bottle?"

"Go. Go make one I want to play with more magic!" She quickly shooed me off to go start my new project.

In order to make the water bottle I'd need a container of sorts to do it. What if I asked my dad to make me one for when I was out playing with Symphonia. I quickly rushed home to my dad's workshop, nearly running into the town head council. This was a man I desperately despised. I could tell by his looks and his glances towards my mother this was not a respectable man.

"Oh young Samuel, where are you off to in such a hurry?" He glowered at me in disgust. I'm pretty sure that he was in love with my mother but my father won her heart first. Good thing. This guy is a pig.

"Oh minister, I'm off to see my father! Instead of stopping in to see my mother, why don't you join me to say hi to my awesome father. You know he could probably crush rocks with his bare hands right?" I said the last line with a little provocation in my voice. Trying to get a raise out of the man, and you could tell by his cheeks turning pink that he felt the little jab I gave him.

"Oh minister what do I owe the pleasure of your visit today?" he stood up from his workbench wiping the metal shavings off his tunic.

"Your boy nearly took my legs out from underneath me, and insisted I come inside to pay you a visit. How are things running for this here lowly smithery?"

The minister said with a sneer.

"Oh just peachy! I've increased my orders from the surrounding towns. I'm probably now the most known blacksmith in the surrounding towns." My father said with a tone of pride in his voice. He didn't seem at all bothered by the comment of lowly. In fact, him being able to rub it into the minister's face seemed to even delight him more.

The minister scowled his eyes and turned around, flapping his coat tails behind him.

"You can always tell the villains in stories when they have exceptional "fwaps" of their coattails…" I thought to myself.

"Samuel, what are you doing here? I thought you were out playing with little Symphonia?"

"Father, could I possibly ask you to make me a water container? It doesn't even have to be expensive or nothing. I just need something to keep water when I go play with Symph." I asked, giving my father the best puppy-like eyes I could muster.

I could tell that I seemed to perplex my dad a little. He turned around and started rummaging through some wooden boxes until he seemed to find what he was looking for.

"Here just take my old water skin that I used to use in my times of service to the King." He chucked my way, a leather water skin and turned back to his desk.

"Just don't forget to be back in time for Ma to make supper. You were late last time. Don't disappoint her like that again."

"You got it Dad!" I yelled back at him while I was full tilt heading back to go to our spot to work on my next project.

Upon returning to our little clearing I could see Symphonia whispering to the trees and plants. Shortly after they would seem to squirm and wiggle until they walked a short distance away and replanted themselves in the ground. It was a bewildering sight.

"What are they doing?" I gestured to the trees and plants moving aside. Our small cramped clearing now offered better protection from peering eyes whilst also giving us more room to operate in.

"I realized that I could ask the plants to move over and they would listen to my requests."

Walking over to the brook I focused hard on creating a water ball within the pouch. I could see from behind my closed eyes a brilliant flash of blue and once I felt the spell complete itself I reopened my eyes. Since the water skin was empty I attempted to pour mana into the water skin to see if my spell worked. Sure enough the more mana I poured in the more water seemed to appear. As the water skin filled up I stopped pouring in mana. Was water created by magic even drinkable? I attempted to try a swig of the water, and it tasted surprisingly just like the brook we would drink from while training our abilities. I emptied out the water and handed the water skin to Symph.

"I just wanna see if it'll work if you do it." She closed her eyes and soon after the water skin seemed to be filling up. The problem though was she didn't stop. She kept pouring her mana into the skin.

"Symph stop!"

I yelled too late though. The seams on the water skin begin to tug and tug until POMPH! Water burst out splashing both of us in a refreshingly cold blast of river water.

"I'm so sorry Sam! Did I break something important?" She asked almost in tears that she had popped the water skin.

"It should be ok. I'll just tell my dad that it broke when we were walking. I'm sure he'll be ok with it."
