Invited (chapter7)

On Saturday Jennie prepared breakfast for her family,they sat at the dining table eating their breakfast quitely.After they were done Mr Louis cleared his throat"are you okay son?" he asked concerned, Jacob looked tired."Yes dad am just tired yesterday was hectic" he replied."How did the meeting go with the minister?" he asked."it went well he promised to give us the contract,he said I should go on Monday to sign the deal" he replied proudly."That's good to hear I knew I could trust you,am proud of you" he said in a good mood " I'm happy you managed to get the contract it's worth alot,what about you Jennie how is work?" he asked.Jennie was surprised she didn't expect her father to ask her about her work she felt happy."it's fine,I'm doing my best" she replied."It's good you're doing your best,if you face any difficulty in your work you can ask your brother for help you I'm sure he will help you" he advised."Yes dad" she replied,if only her father knew their relationship wasn't good he wouldn't have said that.

"Wife Should we go to the party Mr Cornwell invited us?" he asked."yeah alot of people will be attending,it's better for us to go" Mrs Louis replied,she hardly spoke she was always quite,she only spoke when spoken to.Jenni was used to the way she was,they stood up and left to their room.Jennie cleared the table and went to the kitchen to wash the utensils.At 12:00pm her parents left , Jennie and her brother were the only one left with few servants.Jennie was in her room listening to music while organizing her clothes.Her phone rang it was unknown number she hesitated at first but decided to pick the call."Hello Jennie it's Alice remember me?" Asked the lady on the phone,she was suprised after knowing the caller." Yeah,how can I help you" she asked cautiously,"come on don't be so formal, we're friends" replied the lady but Jennie kept quite."We are hosting a party,it's a get together some of our former classmates will be there I wanted to invite you" she said.Jennie didn't feel like going to the party,she didn't like going to noisy places and also she wasn't in good terms with them."I'm sorry but I won't be able to come I'm busy " she replied."Please you should come our friends will be there,I know we didn't treat you well back in highschool,how about you come,we will make peace with you,the others told me they wanted to apologize and make it up for you,please give us a chance," she begged.

" Where is the party?" she asked."it will be at standard club,the party will begin at 7:30pm so make sure to come and don't worry it won't be noisy" she said and hung up,she was dumbfounded is this how people get invited to a party?she didn't even let her reply she thought.Jennie was in dilemma whether to go or not.She really wanted to make peace with them, they were once her friends before they had a fall out.After organizing her clothes she took a shower and left,she went to her best friend's apartment.It was on Saturday so her friend wasn't at work.She knocked on the door,a beautiful short lady with black hair opened the door."Hey babygirl"she greeted happily,"hey sweetie missed you" replied the lady, jennie hugged her and entered in the house,she sat on the couch."So tell me why did you decide to visit me suddenly" she asked."can't I come to visit my friend?" she asked."You can but it's been long since you visited me,I heard you were demoted" she said."Yeah but don't worry am fine working as a secretary" she said." I hate that brother of yours,how can she do that to you in your father's company", Winnie said angrily." It's fine let's not talk about that, remember Alice she has invited me to a party" Jennie said.Winnie was surprised"she did what?,I hope you refused to go I don't trust her" she said alarmed."It's a get together with my former classmates they want to make peace with me" she explained."Make peace after what they did to you?have you forgotten how they bullied you?" she asked angrily."I didn't we were teenangers back then, we're all grown ups so we shouldn't hold grudges" she explained.

"I know you have a kind heart,so you are easy to forgive but please when you go be careful don't be so trusting" she warned.Jennie smiled and nodded in agreement.They chatted about alot of things.It was 6:30pm, they were seating on the floor watching their favourite romantic movie."Does your parents know you will be going?" winnie asked."No they left for a party,I'll tell them when they get back" she replied."I'll go home now to get ready" she said ."You will be late if you go home now,why don't you shower and change your outfit here I have your clothes you left them during your last sleep over" she said.Winnie got up and went to her bedroom she came holding a beautiful Maroon dress.

"This looks good" she said."Thanks" Jennie replied she went to the bathroom and took her shower.She wore the maroon dress it fitted her well,Her friend did her make up she looked even more beautiful.By the time they were done it was already 7:00pm, Winnie escorted her to the gate." Be careful and if anything happens makes sure to call me you are going standard club right?" She asked concerned ."Yeah and don't worry I'll be careful" she replied."You look beautiful,I'm sure no one will be as beautiful as you at the party" Winnie complimented her."Thanks for everything" she said gratefully.She took a cab and left.
