Fix it(chapter 3)

Jennie never understood why her brother hated her so much,she didn't remember ever offending him in anyway.She went to her room,it wasn't big and cozy like the other room but she never complained,her walls were painted grey it wasn't a bright colour but the lights are always on .She took a shower and changed into her night dress,that night she couldn't sleep well knowing what awaited her in the morning.It was already 4:00 am when she fell asleep .She was asleep when she heard loud knocking on her door it was her brother,she got up and opened the door.

"You're still sleeping when it's already 6:30am?did you drink alot at the party?" he asked.Jennie was still sleepy so she didn't understand what her brother was saying."What time is it?" she asked in a sleepy voice while rubbing her eyes.Her brother scoffed he was getting impatient he grabbed her hand with force and smiled with a not so friendly smile."Siz I think you have forgotten that it's your duty to wake up at 6:00am and prepare breakfast for the whole family, you're already late so you better hurry before dad and mom wakes up".Jennie was now completely wake by the mention of her father,if there was someone she was scared of the most it was her father."Just give me five minutes to brush my teeth" she said hurriedly."Aren't I a good brother I saved you from dad's scolding,you should be thankful am your brother" he said smiling and left.

Jennie quickly brushed her teeth,changed her clothes and run downstairs to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.Since high school she was the one who prepared breakfast and dinner.It was her brother who had suggested for her to that ,he said men liked women who are housewife,a woman who knows how to cook will keep her man happy so she won't be divorced.Her father agreed to the idea saying he didn't want to raise a daughter who didn't even know how to cook for her husband.At first she wasn't interested in learning how to cook but as time went by she enjoyed cooking and her cooking was good almost like a chef.Every morning she prepared pancakes, Scrambled eggs and toasted bread.She prepared coffee for her father and brother and freshly squeezed orange juice for her mother.

By the time she was done it was already 7:20am,she felt exhausted because she couldn't sleep well last night.she went to the dining table and set the table.It was on Saturday so her parents woke up late since her father didn't work on weekends,on week days Jennie woke up at 5:30am to prepare breakfast and they eat their breakfast at 6:30am and the leave for work.At 7:30am her father came to the dining room followed by her brother she was surprised that her mother didn't join them.They both sat down and Jennie served them breakfast,"wow you prepared my favourite am glad you didn't forget that I like to eat puncakes in the morning" Jacob said with a satisfied smile on his face,she forced a smile on her face "I hope you like it" she said."Of course I will you're the best cook" he replied.They both ate quitely.

They were done eating breakfast,"Dad where is mom" Jacob asked politely."She is asleep she has a headache" he replied." I'll prepare porridge for her,you both came home late last night it must been hectic for her that's why she got sick" he said worriedly." My son you're so kind and considerate" he said pleased with his son." When I remarried I was worried that you won't get along well with your new mom,but now it seems I was wrong you love and care for your mom and sister,you have matured am proud of you" he added with a proud look on his face.Jennie watched silently as the father and son duo talk to each other,her father didn't even talk to her it's like she didn't exist she felt hurt and bitter.

"So how long will you be staying in the country" Mr Louis asked his son."Dad your health isn't good so I've decided to stay here and help you run the company,I'll share your burden" he said."it's good that you care for your father and the company you do take after me" he said smiling happily."On Monday come to the company since you're new you will take the position of managing director once you have gained experience I will retire and you take over the company so that I can also rest,you know running a company isn't easy" he said." Yeah I know dad" Jacob replied,Jennie felt hurt with the way her father treated them differently she had bachelor in business management but her father refused to give her the position of MD saying she wasn't experienced but his brother studied civil engineering and he got the position she wanted to voice her opinion but decided to swallow her grievances.

Mr Louis turned and looked at Jennie,she became nervous"Did you talk with the minister and managed to arrange a meeting?" he asked in a serious tone.Jennie was silent for a few seconds"Dad I accidentally offended the minister and he refused to have a meeting am sorry" she apologized."What did you do?" he asked looking disappointed."Jennie looked at her brother and so him give her threating glare she gulped nervously "He accidentally splilled his wine on my dress ,he didn't apologize when I told him to, so I got angry and slapped him later I learned he was the minister,I tried apologizing but he refused and said he won't give us the contract" she explained, she had obeyed her brother's instructions now her father will blame her.

As expected her father was angry ,he slapped her hard on the face Jennie tasted a metallic taste in her mouth she had bit herself tears rolled down her cheeks." Of all the people you could offend why did it have to be the minister?now we are going to lose a deal worth billions because of your stupidity,that's why I can't trust you to work for my company you never do things right" he scolded harshly."Dad relax Siz is still young so she will make mistakes,I'll try and persuade the minister and see if he can give us the contract" he said."That's no excuse for what she did,are you sure the minister will agree am sure he is angry" he asked worriedly."Don't worry dad I'll fix it" he assured."That's my son, even if you won't be able get the contract dad is still proud of you,try and fix it, okay son" he asked."yeah I'll try my best dad" he replied.
