The stars that had been strewn across the sky dimmed in awe of the silver beam that split the heavens. Tyvelia dropped her wings to her sides and went into a controlled dive below the devastating attack, before flaring them out and catching herself mid fall. As she caught a draft and stabilized herself, her mind began to race.
Not out of fear or anything like that.
Every dragon when thrown into combat is generally thinking twice as fast as their opponent or thinking at the same speed as another dragon. This means that unless they are truly stumped they will consistently be able to match their opponent or easily and consistenly work with their fellow dragon in perfect synch.
However no matter how well they may think, if they don't have the body for it they will be at a disadvantage. Dark dragons especially as their form is generally meant for fear mongering and their abilities are generally meant to engage from out of their opponents sight range
Dark dragons themselves were never meant to engage in direct combat. They are technically the weakest of all dragons in direct combat. Thus enagaging in direct combat should be suicidal.
Right?
That was the thought process of Kai'Sa as all the shadows in the forest began to rise from beneath the canopy.
Like an oily black sea, the forest for miles around disappeared as a new ocean came into existence. In moments, the entire population of the ironwood forest that wasn't below ground was killed. Anything flying too close to the canopy was also instantly swallowed by this abyssal ocean. Kai'Sa's eyes widened as Tyvelia manifested an entirely new night sky below them.
*THOOOOOOMMMM!!!*
With a mighty flap of his four wings, Kai'Sa blasted upwards towards the now darkened night sky. He had made a mistake.
Not only had he challenged a Matriarch in all his arrogance, he had challenged one in their homeland, at the absolute worst time possible.
However no matter how high he ascended, or how far he ran. He had been doomed from the moment he had challenged someone of Tyvelia's caliber.
"It seems this is the first time you have seen someone manifest their full magic pressure. No matter, you were a fool anyways. You will help me pass the time."
Tyvelia's voice was quiet and soft.
And yet for Kai'Sa it was the most dreadful thing he had ever heard. He flapped harder and harder towards the stars, his body beginning to blur as he prepared to exit the atmosphere.
Suddenly and abruptly the sea of power below him began to boil. At a blinding speed, dark tendrils lunged up like the tentacles of a kraken about to sink a ship into the abyss.
*KRAK!*
As the tendrils pierced his layers of hair and leather skin, they smashed through the scales below which served as his final defense.
"GACK!"
Droplets of glowing blue blood flew out from his mouth as he was riddled full of holes. As his wings flared to their full extent, he drifted up a few more meters.
Raising his front limb, a few frost kissed tears glinted in the light of his beloved stars as he was pulled back down towards Taos.
As he began to fall back towards the oily black sea below, he gritted his teeth. He had heard what Tyvelia had said. If he let her have her way he would surely be a toy till the end of time. With fear in his heart and his blood in the air, the tiny star-like scales strewn across his body began to glow before being set alight.
Kai'Sa would be no one's toy.
'Perhaps with this I might give her a scar on her ugly mug.'
As he closed his eyes, the shining white scales began to glow with power like tiny suns.
No dragon of the void ever wished to do this.
It was their final resort.
Usually used to allow heir young to escape.
Or as a last hateful act.
"With the power of the stars, with the weight of the void. May gravity and fear bind you, and may death be your only escape.
SUPERNOVA!"
The sky lit up a bright white for only a moment. It was as though the sun had come out four hours early.
And then, falling from the sky like snow, came glowing white powder.
Well, not really powder. More like dragon scales. Such as the glowing white scales that had dotted Kai's body.
With little more than a flick of her claw, all the shadows cast beneath every fibre of hair on his body surged forth in an instant, peeling off all of the star-like scales on his body.
His shrieks echoed throughout the skies as all of his strength was instantly stripped from him.
He splashed into the now churning sea of shadows before being dragged beneath the waves…

Apparently, when Tyvelia told Iacon, Matriarch of the void, Iacon had just told her to do what she wanted. Iacon really had zero care for the dragons of the void. They were generally powerful enough to do what they wanted, and because their really wasn't anything but them wandering space (they made sure of this by killing everything else that could with the help of their old emperor by going on a crusade apparently) their population doesn't really go down.
The loss of someone who was the equivalent to a human's "Village idiot" was not much for them.
Not that they celebrated his disappearance either.
*FSsshH*
The sizzle and crackle of oil in the pan put a small smile on my face. Garnishing them with a small herb that kind of tasted like thyme, I finally turned off the Burnstones. They were powered by magic, and by running a suitable amount of magic through them, they would react to the air.
Tyvelia told me to simply run magic through them to turn them on, and drown them in magic power to turn them off.
And so, with a bright green flash the oven turned off. Moving the pot of near boiled potato like vegetables off the stove top, I allowed it to finish boiling without the fire while I cut myself a taster's cut of the steak. I gulped, staring down at the meat as Scola mashed potatoes behind me.
With a silver fork I skewered it before bringing it up to my mouth. Though I had no real idea what this meat would taste like, I was practically salivating at the sight of its nicely seared exterior.
Taking a tiny wary bite, I closed my eyes and focused on the taste.
A smile spread on my face as my eyes popped right back open.
A green glow came from my mouth as I alleviated the pain as my tongue was nearly nicely seared as well.
"Haa, Haa,"
Since the piping hot meat was already in my mouth, all I could do was exhale uncomfortably fast till it became less hot.
But still, even though it burned a little, it was really good! It wasn't wagyu or some American ranch's grade A beef, but it was pretty close!
Happy with the results, I quickly began to take out and silver platters before some chittering to my left brought me back to reality.
My hands slowed, and my smile waned.
I wasn't serving the orphanage children or cooking at a barbeque.
I was preparing to serve an eldritch being comparable to a god in strength and its maid which was a multi foot long centipede.
With my enthusiasm curbed, I turned around with plates in hand to the sight of a long black dining table.

A/N: If any of you are confused as to what Tyvelia did, she pulled the shadows out of the entire forest through pure magic control. She didn't expend any of her bottomless pit of mana.
PS: If you get me a star rating before friday, I'll put out five chapters on that day.
PSPS: If I see any useless reviews I'll delete them.
