Covet And Conquer

A dragon. A creature of unparalleled power. Born to conquer and consume they stand at the peak of the world. Their greed is second to none. They seek and covet thousands of treasures to add to their hoard. But what happens when they find a treasure they can't take? ------------------------------------------------------------------- That is the premise for my novel. Now for the obligatory warnings: No.1: Mc will never be some kind of peak warrior. He will be strong enough to fight, but most of the time won't have that option and will have to use his head. No.2: There will be yandere. You know what that means. This story will get real dark real fast when they do anything. No.3: I am unsure of whether or not there will be harem. We will figure this out in time. No.4: There will be gore. Seinen level most of the time and some uncomfortable stuff. If you have read a yandere novel before than you will definitely be fine.

To march through the depths of the caverns with a guide was one thing, to do it without someone beside you truly brought the age of every crevice, stalagmite-&-tite to light. The creak of the lantern as it swung to the tempo of my step slowly became less and less real to me as I jogged along. The wavering shadows cast by the orange glow of the flame seemed to taunt me, swirling into and writhing like fleeing serpents.

This place, by nature, was insanity inducing. I would have to be very careful with how I monitor my own mental state. Getting proper sleep, being careful with how I make my routine, and even regularly speaking with Scola and the gloom would prevent me from falling too far.

'But the best thing that I could do is get out of here,' I thought.

And so, with my determination in mind, I jogged off further into the abyssal halls.

'To reach Victaya, I have to be strong.'

Those were the words I used to explain my resolve to my burning thighs as I finally pushed open the silver doors to my room. The first thing I had noticed was that the kitchen had been touched. There were strange fruits resting in a bowl on the counter, the sink was still wet, and the dishes had all been put away.

'A gloom?'

There were very few creatures living here, and so it came to be a question of which of the three eldritch species were doing some chores while I was out.

This question was quickly answered as the scrape of chitin on stone caught my attention, and foreshadowed Scola's rise from the hidden side of the bed.

"So it was just you, did you fix up the kitchen?"

She nodded before chittering out a sign.

"Don't worry, I'll do it next time. I know for a fact how boring washing plates can be."

Scola looked at me with an inquisitive look, but didn't seem to be able to grasp the question she wanted to ask. So in the end, she used her small manipulum to wipe her eyes and went back to sleep. I then began to work in the kitchen as I continued to think about the rest of the day.

One thing that kept repeating in my head was the strange new additions to Tyvelia's form, and the mention of her sleep cycle.

'I need to research those.'

As I put away the final dishes, I heard a clink and the lighting of the stove. Scola had lit it, placed in the pan, and then poured out some oil I had in a nearby jug. I smiled, noting that food seemed to be a top priority for the giant centipede. I then opened the ice box, and began searing a new piece of meat.

Tyvelia once again did not show up to eat. I'm beginning to wonder if that time was just a one off, not that I would complain if it was.

After cleaning myself up using the amenities of the washroom, (the kelp and the sink water) I then moved on to begin reading. As for what I read, the first thing I started reading was the basics on dragons.

The novel seemed to have come from the same region as Pyra, the familiar stone like cover and blackened pages appearing in mind. Its author however, was a dragon named Grendel.

Dragons as a species are diverse, and powerful. They come in many forms, and live upon many lands.

However, there is one thing at their core that remains the same.

They are a bunch of greedy bastards.

Another chappa out.
