59 The Apartment

While Lianne was in her bedroom, Kai explored her apartment.

It was quite spacious and compact at the same time.

Her apartment had the double door security system, whereby the first door had a grill and a small square area to put your shoes. Then, the wooden door led to the apartment itself.

Upon opening the door, you would be greeted immediately by the living room and the open kitchen. On the right, was the main bedroom that Lianne had entered, and across of the kitchen (and beside Lianne's bedroom) was the bathroom.

Kai entered the bathroom and noted that there was another door, presumably leading to Lianne's bedroom. This meant that unlike most one-bedroom apartments, she did not need to get into the communal area in order to enter the bathroom.

What a pity.

The kitchen was an open concept but was 'U' shaped, so that there was some semblance of separation between the living room and the kitchen. It was also small so Kai noted that Lianne didn't really have to move much to get items from one side, to the other.

The sink was next to the stove, making it easier for her to do her prepping work in between the stove and sink.

The whole place had the colour theme of teal and aquamarine of various shades with white, and the furniture was basically wood. He was dying to know how her bedroom looked like.

When Lianne came out of her bedroom, she also carried a pile of clothes. She placed them on the coffee table in front of the sofa and told Kai, "You can use these cotton pants and T-shirt as pajamas for tonight. There's also a towel and toothbrush for you to use."

Kai took the cotton pants and spread them, noting that they were men's pants.

As if knowing what was on his mind, Lianne answered, "I have some men's clothes around because sometimes Zero stays over."

Kai's eyes narrowed as he also picked up the T-shirt and asked, "These are Zero's?"

Hell, he'd rather go naked than wear anything of Zero's!

"No," Lianne replied, heading to the kitchen.

"No?" Kai asked, following behind Lianne, "Really?"

Lianne stopped, turned to face him only to be wrapped up in his arms as he looked at her in the eye, "Really really?"

Lianne rolled her eyes, "They're new."

Yes, she had bought them with Zero in mind but that was because she had not met Kai yet. Of course, if she told him that, he'd probably not want the items as well so it's best that she kept quiet about it.

If he didn't take this, then what would he wear?

Nothing?

Kai still looked at her and she sighed, "They are new. Zero hadn't worn them yet."

Without a word, Kai took out his phone from his pocket and called Zayn, "Bring me some clothes to wear to sleep. I'm at Lianne's apartment."

Zayn, who was just about to sleep, groaned inwardly as he answered, "Yes, Sir."

If one was to really look at the terms and conditions of a personal assistant, 'sending clothes over' was not part of it.

His responsibilities would typically be things related to work i.e. acting as a first point of contact, dealing with correspondence and phone calls. managing diaries and organising meetings and appointments, determining (controlling) access to Kai. booking and arranging travel, transport, and accommodation.

All of that.

Yet, despite the fact that this was going over and beyond his job scope, Zayn still did it.

Partly because Kai wasn't the type that would demand it from him like it was part of his job scope, and partly because it was … well, to maintain his trust.

Kai had told him that Zayn was to be the person he would go to for anything and Zayn figured this was just one part of it.

Sending clothes to sleep in …

Zayn sighed.

Looks like he had to contact the Patriarch about this.

He got away with it the last time by using the pretext that it wasn't serious. That he was biding his time and analysing the situation so as to see how serious Kai was.

The Patriarch had not been happy but accepted it.

He also had to inform him about the reception Kai gave to Deanna. The former had been polite and respectful but that was about it. There did not seem to be any sort of interest as yet.

The Patriarch wasn't unhappy about that for he felt that Kai just needed some time.

The fact that Kai was spending the night though, was a whole new ball game.

They would start taking Lianne seriously.

This was going way too fast, in Zayn's opinion.

They had only been together in less than a week and Kai was already acting like a love sick fool. But there was nothing Zayn could fault Lianne for, as Kai's performance at work was not affected.

He may be swamped but he still managed to execute whatever was given to him properly.

Much to Zayn's surprise, though, Lianne never did make a fuss. But then again, it hadn't been long that they got together, so perhaps she hadn't felt the 'agitation' yet.

Still, Zayn thought to himself as he headed over to Kai's house, he didn't think that Lianne would act any differently even after more time had passed.

There was just something about her that was different though Zayn couldn't quite pinpoint what it was. Perhaps that was why Kai was so smitten by her.

Undoubtedly, Lianne wasn't what you would call a beauty. She wasn't tall - standing only at 155cm to Kai's 180cm - and she wasn't voluptuous either. Granted, she was fair and her skin looked rather silky smooth but then again, most women are.

She was, however, very sweet and innocent looking, so maybe that was it?

Kai liked the innocent-looking type that he could bully?

Though it did seem like he was the one that was whipped.

Still …

Zayn had to admit, she had a breathtaking smile.

He had been so surprised at the sudden transformation the other day that he felt like his heart jolted a bit. Zayn shook his head out of his thoughts.

He had just been caught unawares, that was all.
