Kai had done a lot of research regarding the dos and don'ts when one is pregnant since Lianne wouldn't be bothered at all. It lay upon his shoulders to make sure she got the best and was well taken care of.

Lianne followed his instructions and did not complain - which was the best thing in this situation. Although she may be detached from the fact that she is pregnant, it did not mean that she neglected herself.

To help her, Kai had filled up the house with all the types of food that she could eat. No deli meat or non-processed dairy, for example. Thus, the fact that she managed to get some hot dogs said a lot. 

She must have been craving for it and forgot to avoid the food, completely neglecting the fact that if it wasn't available at home, it was something she should not eat. When she remembered, she then became racked with guilt.
