Chapter 66: Let me sleep... five more minutes
_____
"Rin, stay here and do the test without me. I'm going upstairs to find Teacher Hoshinomiya," Chabashira Sae quickly stood up from the bed.
"Eh? But I've already finished it," Rin Matsuoka turned his head toward Chabashira Sae and said.
"So fast? How long has it been?" Chabashira Sae showed a surprised expression. "Has it even been half an hour?"
"Well, I already knew all the content on these three test papers. I didn't need to think much; I just had to write it down. I finished in about ten minutes," Rin shrugged.
Actually, the truth was that Rin had already done these three test papers when he took the exam for someone else after graduating from junior high school. He only needed to copy them from memory.
Although it was copied, it was still something Rin had originally written based on his own ability when he took the junior high graduation exam.
Feeling surprised, Chabashira Sae walked over, picked up the three test papers from the table, and quickly glanced through them. She found that Rin had indeed finished all three test papers.
Chabashira Sae looked at Rin with eyes full of suspicion. "Rin, tell me honestly, have you done these test papers before?"
Rin really wanted to say "no," thinking that if he admitted it, Chabashira Sae would give him even more test papers to complete.
Unfortunately, Rin was an honest and cheerful boy. Besides, he had received 100,000 points from Chabashira Sae, so Rin nodded without hesitation.
"Yes, I have. It was during my junior high graduation exam. The test papers you gave me, Chabashira-sensei, just happen to be the ones I did back then."
"…"
The doubt in Chabashira Sae's eyes deepened, and she looked at the test papers in her hand again.
"You did everything right."
Rin laughed softly and said, "Isn't it a good thing to get all the answers correct, Chabashira-sensei?"
"You're clearly good at studying, so why do your student records show zeroes in all subjects?"
"Well, I was sick..."
"Alright, alright." Chabashira Sae waved her hand, cutting him off before he could make up any more excuses. "I'm planning to prepare different test papers for you. I'll let you know later."
I knew it, Rin sighed helplessly. "Alright, I'm someone who keeps his promises, but let me be clear, Chabashira-sensei, this is a one-time thing. I won't do it again."
"Fine," Chabashira Sae agreed without hesitation.
Through these three test papers, Chabashira Sae couldn't definitively gauge Rin's academic abilities, but at least she could confirm that he wasn't the type to score zero in every subject.
Now that Chabashira Sae was sure Rin wasn't a fool, she felt reassured. Next, she planned to personally select the questions and prepare a new test for him to take.
Though it would be a hassle and energy-consuming to create the test herself, Chabashira Sae felt like she'd lose out if she didn't go through with it—after all, she had given Rin 100,000 personal points!
"Alright then, Chabashira-sensei, I'll be heading off now."
"Okay, take care. I won't see you out."
"Ok."
Just as Rin was about to leave Chabashira Sae's dorm room, his eyes glanced toward her bed. Besides the peach-colored, slightly concave bedding that had caught his attention, her phone was lying on top of it.
"Don't worry," Rin muttered to himself, "I haven't even written the software yet. Even if I got Chabashira-sensei's phone, I wouldn't be able to bypass it and contact the outside world."
Rin Matsuoka changed back into his shoes, said goodbye to Chabashi Sae, and left the teachers' dormitory building.
On the way back to his dormitory room, Rin bought a bottle of honey lemon tea and a teriyaki beef bento at the store he passed by.
Rin heated up the teriyaki beef bento using the microwave provided by the store. After taking it back to his dormitory room, he ate the bento while writing code.
It was late at night, already two o'clock in the morning. Rin's eyelids began to droop, and he yawned loudly.
"Ha~ Time to go to bed. I can't finish writing it tonight anyway. I'll continue tomorrow..."
Rin stood up, muttering to himself. He hadn't taken a shower yet, but his exhaustion got the best of him. He staggered directly to the bed, lay down, and closed his eyes.
Before falling asleep completely, Rin forced himself to set an alarm on his phone and finally spoke.
"Narrator, start using my personal quality enhancement points..."
[As you command, host.]
As the narration system started to work, an indescribable wave of tiredness washed over Rin's body and mind. Already drowsy, he drifted straight into sleep.
This was why Rin deliberately saved his personal quality enhancement points for nighttime use. Every time he used them, he felt both physically and mentally exhausted, so if he didn't want to be sleepy during the day, it was best to use them right before bed.
On one hand, it prevented sleepiness during the day, and on the other, it helped him fall asleep faster. And just like that, Rin was sleeping soundly~~
Rin Matsuoka's first night at the school passed like this.
In the early morning, the bright and warm sunlight streamed through the dormitory window, shining on Rin's handsome face and casting a beautiful halo around him.
Because Rin was in such a deep sleep, even the sunlight didn't wake him.
The time came, and the alarm on his phone rang. Rin, still sound asleep, suddenly frowned. His hand unconsciously fumbled around, trying to crush the thing that made the noise.
[Host, it's time to get up. Class will start in twenty minutes.]
The narration system's voice echoed directly in Rin's mind, its effectiveness far surpassing that of any alarm clock. Lying on the bed, Rin slowly opened his eyes.
Rin had woken up but wasn't fully awake. His expression was dazed, his eyes filled with confusion and sleepiness.
"There's still twenty minutes left, let me sleep for five more minutes..."
Rin then closed his eyes again.
That moment when you realize you can sleep for five more minutes is the best feeling~~
[Wake up, host!]
[If you still want to sleep, just do it in the classroom. With your intelligence, you can get full marks just by glancing at the textbook.]
"You… are right. I'm already this good... I might as well… skip class… I'm so sleepy..." Rin mumbled, still half-asleep.
Eventually, Rin couldn't take the system's nagging any longer and groggily got out of bed. Sleepily, he made his way to the bathroom.
After a quick shower, washing his hair, brushing his teeth, and washing his face, Rin, still feeling drowsy, finally perked up a little. Grabbing his phone and student ID, he staggered out of his dorm room, still half-asleep.
