Chapter 8

After class

Syl walked out of the class a bunch of people. Just before he left he turned back.

"Hey Ayanokoji! Wanna come? We are all going to Keyaki mall! I owe you for helping me yesterday so I'd like to buy you a drink or something."

Ayanokoji ignored whatever Horikita was saying when he responded. "Alright."

Then he turned back to Horikita. "See. I am already making friends."

She furrowed her brows slightly. "He just said he was repaying you for yesterday. He didn't actually invite you out."

"What's the difference?"

"It's because you don't know the answer to questions like that, that you don't have any friends."

"... I do have one."

"..."

Horikita just stood up and left.

What a dry conversation! These two were unmatched!

Ayanokoji packed up and left with Syl, Sudo, Ike, Yamauchi, and a few other people who were all going to the mall.

After a little while Syl decided to leave early, Ayanokoji took this opportunity to leave as well as he was feeling awkward.

The two walked back to the dorms together.

Syl was whistling and walking with a pop in his step. Not only was he extremely happy to be meeting and interacting with his new friends but he also had so much energy! That stamina boost was huge! The body strengthening also helped!

Kid felt like a million dollars!

As the two of them wordlessly made their way back to the dorms. They bumped into Kushida!

What are the odds?

Pretty good because Kushida was looking for the two…

"Hey! Syl and Ayanokoji! What are the chances?"

"Yeah! It's crazy!" Syl happily responded.

"Umm… Do you guys know where Horikita is? I want to talk to her! I feel like she's the only person in the class I haven't become friends with yet! And you guys know my goal is to be friends with everyone, right? Haha"

Syl played along. "Sorry, I don't know much about her. I only met her once by chance yesterday… and she didn't seem to like me very much. It was almost like she forgot about me… maybe she easily forgets things?"

Syl tried to throw a hail mary. Maybe Kushida would agree with him here and leave Horikita and Ayanokoji alone in the future!

"No way! She's so smart! She would never forget! I'm sure she was just busy!"

Syl didn't know if Kushida's words were just there to make him feel better or had a deeper meaning. He felt that his hail mary probably didn't work…

"Your probably right! Well, Maybe ask Ayanokoji! I think I'm gonna go home."

'My pink bunny slippers await my return!' He silently added in his mind.

Syl left Ayanokoji to deal with the ticking time bomb and went to his slippers… I mean home!

When he got there he got a notification.

[Ding! Due to host greatly helping the class he has received 10 spins!]

Syl was super excited as he watched the wheel spin!

[Host has received. (Elementary school knowledge) x1, (Sleep token) x3, (Caffeine pill) x 5, (Soul Soul fruit) [Brooks fruit] x1]

The last one shook him to his bones!!

Syl instantly took the devil fruit out of his inventory and ate it. Then he threw up into the sink. It tasted so bad!!

Syl quickly went to try his new powers… only to realize he had none! He wasn't dead yet so the fruit did nothing!!

What a dumbass!

Syl cursed god for the evil gift! In reality it was his own stupidity! He could have either traded it back in or just left it for later in his storage space. What an idiot!

In order to appease his melancholy the system spoke up.

[Host should listen to the system in the future. I was trying to say I recommended not eating that and trading it in for 1,000,000 points.]

'Why didn't you say something Sys!!!'

[I tried…]

"Haaa, just give me the elementary school knowledge…"

[Yes host]

Syl glew and sighed, at least now he was a master of grade 1 arts and crafts…

Next day.

Syl woke up and got in uniform before making his way to the club fair. He went all alone.

What a loser!

He went up to look at all the clubs. Maybe there was a hockey club he could join?

He looked at the club's presentations one by one and eventually sighed when one caught his eye.

The swimming club! His new arch nemesis!

Syl turned his head and hmph'ed at the swimming club presentation.

'Swimming is for losers!' He thought.

He continued watching the clubs and crossing his fingers that there was a hockey club he could join.

Unfortunately there wasn't. I mean it was pretty obvious…

Anyway!

The final presentation started as Horikita Manabu got on stage. Nagumo was standing behind him.

He gave a speech to everyone present about the school and the student council. At one point he glared directly at Ayanokoji and Horikita who were together. Then he looked at Syl a little later.

Once he finished his speech he made a swift exit.

Syl sighed and walked away.

On his way home he got a notification that he had been added to a group chat with Sudo, Ike, Yamauchi and Ayanokoji. He hummed to himself in amusement and went about his day.
