12 I Envy My Future

'This is pretty good,' thought Genji as he looked at the new addition of the Spirit stat before calming himself down.

"It's no use getting excited now, I should first get some benefits first."

Genji calmed himself down and opened his eyes, looking around the empty Training Hall. Seeing as how Suki and the other Kyoshi Warriors weren't here yet, he closed his eyes and continued meditating.

After closing his eyes, Genji activated the meditating skill and instantly felt himself zone out and feel relaxed. It was like relaxing in a bathtub.

All the worries and fatigue instantly disappeared.

Whilst meditating, the Resting skill activated and aided Genji in relaxing even further.

Without noticing the passage of time, Genji immersed himself in <Meditation>.

"Genji! GENJI!"

Hearing someone shouting, Genji opened his eyes and looked at the person who was calling his name.

"Oh, hey Suki," said Genji with a light smile.

Genji watched as Suki put on a weird expression on her face. He felt like he had done something indecent and Suki was mentally reprimanding him.

"Hm?"

Genji didn't think too much about it and felt his body which was brimming with energy and vitality. Like he could live on forever.

Just as he was about to stand up, Genji felt something that was already standing up.

"Ah…"

Quietly covering himself, Genji shot Suki a strange gaze, "How could you take advantage of me while I'm meditating?"

Suki was taken aback and all the Kyoshi Warriors that were standing behind her with blushed on their faces were also stunned.

"Now… if you excuse me…"

Standing up slowly, not covering his crotch, Genji left confidently as if nothing was wrong. He passed by all the Kyoshi Warriors who made a path for him.

Soon, he was outside and he felt the raging boner that was threatening to exit out of his pants.

"Ugh…"

Just as Genjj was about to head out and take a relaxing walk, he noticed the darkness in the surroundings.

He lifted his head and took a long look at the moon up in the sky.

"Shit… just how long was I meditating?" Genji mumbled to himself.

When he began meditating, it would have been around 2 in the evening since there wasn't much place to be given a longer tour. The spar and talking last almost an hour or less…

'Does that mean I meditate for almost 6-8 hours?!'

Quickly pulling up the previous notifications, Genji noticed quite a few new ones.

[Ding! Skill level up!]

[<Danger Sense> (Lvl. 20)]

[Ding! Skill level up!]

[<Danger Sense> (Lvl. 21)]

[Ding! Skill level up!]

[<Novice Martial Artist> (Lvl. 16)]

[Ding! Skill level up!]

[<Adept Firebender> (Lvl. 35)]

The first skill that leveled up was <Danger Sense>, which was most likely a skill related to the mind or Spirituality. Closer to the mind since it has to do with alerting the body of danger.

The second skill to level up was <Martial Arts >, proving that at least five hours have passed.

Then finally, was the random skill that leveled up, in this case it was <Adept Firebender>.

Nodding satisfyingly, Genji walked through the night and headed over to the chief's house to get into the guest bed and sleep.

However, when he got there, he found that the village chief was asleep already and wouldn't answer the door at all.

Sighing, Genji scratched the back of his head and walked away.

With no way to go back into the guest bed to sleep, Genji headed back to the Training Hall and found it empty as well.

"Hm, looks like they already left…" muttered Genji before sighing.

Looking around, Genji decided to climb up the Training Hall and sleep on the roof. It wasn't the most ideal place to sleep, but he had no where else to go.

He didn't know where Suki lived, so he couldn't go ask her for any help or accommodations.

'Looks like I'll be sleeping here for today…'

Stretching his body, Genji laid down on the slanted roof of the Training Hall and slept.

***

Walking around in the early recesses of the morning, a young woman carried around a long piece of wood and a leather pouch.

With a confident walk and happy look on her face, Suki walked over to the Village Chief's house.

Knocking on the door, Suki waited until the Village Chief Oyaji opened the door.

"Suki? What are you doing here so early in the morning?"

Oyaji narrowed his eyes and looked at Suki skeptically before realizing why she was there.

"If your looking for that stranger, he didn't return here yesterday."

Suki knitted her eyebrows and said, "Are you sure he didn't return here?"

"Yes," nodded Oyaji.

Suki smiled and said, "I see, thank you for telling me."

Oyaji nodded and watched her leave before closing the door and heading back inside.

Leaving the Village Chief's house, Suki frowned and said, "He's lying… but what did he lie about?"

Walking away with the stuff on her, Suki decided to head to the Training Hall, hoping to see Genji there.

Getting closer to the Training Hall, Suki noticed all the Kyoshi Warriors looking up at something on the roof of the Training Hall.

Curious, Suki sped up and asked the first Kyoshi Warriors she could get her hands on.

"What going on?"

"There's someone sleeping on top of the Training Hall!"

The Kyoshi Warrioress answered swiftly as she turned to look at Suki with a bewildered expression.

Wanting to see if it was someone she knew, Suki forced her way through the Kyoshi Warriors and eventually saw who it was that slept on the roof of the Training Hall.

Genji!

Surprised, Suki left the stuff she was carrying on the floor and quickly climbed the side of the Training Hall. Getting closer to Genji, she began to call out to him in a quiet voice.

"Genji… Genji!"

Genji stirred and it didn't take long for him to open his eyes and look at Suki.

"Oh? Goddess Suki?" teased Genji as he lifted his body. "What are you doing here?"

Suki blushed and said, "I'm here to train."

"Then go train," said Genji with a smile.

Suki felt her heart skip a beat as she looked at that smile and his face that reflected some of the colors of the rising sun.

"Ahem!"

Suki coughed a little and tried to calm her heart, "I can't train because you're sleeping on the roof of the Training Hall."

Genji raised an eyebrow, "Sleeping in the roof prevents you and the others from training?"

Nodding, Suki said, "The other warriors are not going to focus on training if they keep thinking if you're still up here sleeping after all."

With an understanding look, Genji stood up from the roof and held out his hand over to Suki.

"What are you waiting for then, let's get off," said Genji with a smirk as he looked into Suki's eyes.

Suki blushed and nodded quietly, reaching out her hand over to Genji. Holding tight to his hand, both of them jumped off the roof together easily.

With Suki's level of training, something like this is easy. Genji on the other hand felt a little hurt when he landed, but nothing a little <Rest> wouldn't heal in an instant.

"Come on women, let's get some training done before our daily patrol after the night patrol had done their work!"

After they both landed on the ground Suki looked at all the other Kyoshi Warriors. She gave her orders and watched as the Kyoshi Warriors quickly left but as they left, Suki noticed their giddy expressions.

'That's strange…'

Suki turned to look at Genji and saw that he wasn't looking at her but instead down at her have that was holding his.

Seeing where he was looking, Suki blushed and quickly let go of his hand.

"Right!"

Suki walked off to the side and quickly found the stuff she had set aside earlier.

Picking it all up, Suki made her way over to Genji and passed on the items to him.

"What's this?" asked Genji as he checked the items.

Suki smirked and said, "This is your staff."

Genji raised his eyebrows in surprise before smiling, "Haha, great."

There wasn't anything he could do at this point after revealing that he was a spearman.

He couldn't pull out the Airbender's Glider because it would raise a lot of questions. He arrived without it and suddenly bringing out an item he didn't have at first would be strange.

In the end however, Genji didn't mind having to make his own staff.

Items have durabilities and if any of his weapons were to break, he would have to travel a long way to buy a new weapon.

That wasn't the end of it either, if he tried to buy a weapon in bulk, he would need a lot of money.

'In the end, I can only rely on myself… luckily I have the system and it might make things much easier,' thought Genji as he looked at the wood in his right hand and the leather pouch on his left.

'Who knows, I might make myself a Legendary Weapon one day, better yet, a Myth class weapon!'

Just thinking about the future weapons he will be holding onto one day made Genji feel all jealous of his future self already.

Nodding to Suki, Genji left quickly with the items, stunning the poor girl in the process.

'A little eager, are we?' thought Suki with a smile on her face.

At an empty space next to the Training Hall, Genji sat down under the shade of a tree and quickly laid the tools before himself.

With the six foot long plank of wood, Genji took out the shaving tool to slim down the plank of wood to an appropriate size for his future staff.

Genji focused himself on this task and made sure to not fail. Taking it slow, Genji wanted to get it perfect on the first try.

With slow and steady movements, Genji didn't finish slimming down the plank of wood until Suki and her group were heading out on their patrol.

Genji nodded at Suki with a smile, sending her off before continuing his work on the staff.

Once he finished slimming down the plank of wood, Genji now has to sand it down from its rough shape down to a smooth and cylinder look.

Repeating the process of the shaving step, Genji took his time in properly sanding the six foot long staff.

Once he was done with the sanding, Genji went on to the semi-last step.

He took out the oil that Suki prepared for him and coated the staff in it. This will give the staff a coating to protect against the humidity, or more specifically, sweat and blood. It's also to allow the staff to properly slide in one's hands without sliding too much or too little.

It also helps to, more or less, protect it against small scratches and preventing a weapon from getting too ugly straight away.

With the final touches finally done, Genji watched as Suki was heading back from patrolling, something that usually takes her three to four hours.

'Hm… looks like sanding took me longer than I expected,' thought Genji as he was putting the final touches on his new Bo staff!

[Ding! Learned new skill!]

[<Novice Crafter> (Lvl. 1)]

Just as Genji was pouring the final touches on his Bo Staff, he noticed that he had gained a new skill.

'A crafting skill… not bad. Making weapons will be a hell off a lot easier now!'

Seeing the staff off to the side to let it dry under the sun, Genji looked at the approaching Suki.

"Looks like you've been working here all day," she said as she looked over at the finished staff. "Let's go eat. I'll invite you again today."

Genji parked up and instantly appeared on the pathway to the only restaurant in the village, [The Bear Owl Table].

"C'mon Suki, what are you waiting for?"

Looking over at Genji with a blank look, Suki could only sigh and follow him. She was the one who suggested it after all.

Following next to the happy Genji, Suki asked, "So what do you plan on doing these next few days. I'm not sure I could support you until the next trade comes to the island."

Genji scratched his cheek and thought about it before responding, "Well… I'm not sure. I'm not skilled enough to help you out with the Kyoshi Warriors and all. Let me think it over some food…"

Suki could only nod since she knew that Genji really wasn't that skilled. She couldn't really make him join her in patrolling since he wasn't experienced in that either. Training him to be able to help will probably work but by the time he's ready to join the patrol, the trader might always arrive.

Soon, the pair reached [There Bear Owl Table] and headed over to an empty table.
