What's Your Name?

What's your name?

A question still occupying his mind. Maybe, the fortune teller must know something about him. He should ask her. He sprint back to that old woman's direction. Hoping he could get some valid information regarding his persona.

"It's weird."

With just seconds, the old woman was gone, he doubt that that woman can even make a meter or two with that speed. He looked around but only this one way street is seen nothing more.

Nevermind.

As soon as he headed forward a speeding car crashed and hit a man walking with his briefcase opened in every direction, it's visible even with that 10 meters distance that his hair's matted in fresh blood, his limbs grotesque and disfigured.

Chad was in shock that he just stood there when everybody's rushing to see if the man's ok. A woman and a man in their thirty's applied first aid trying to hold the man for a minute while waiting for the ambulance.

Before he could even get near the scene an old man whispered...

"Funny how life would end in just split seconds. He might have been realising about his worn out life and planned on making it out with his patient wife. He just realised how much his wife sacrificed for him. What a tragic life. See her coming, there she is!"

Then the old man looked at him with those deep blue eyes and grinned.

Puzzled.

He looked towards where the old man was pointing and to his shock, it was his wife. Completely shocked he could not even open his mouth nor words can come out from his lips. His heart was buried with fear. Seeing his wife crying made all the pain more excruciating. How could he be so selfish not minding his way and looking out for his path. How could he leave his poor wife with his child alone. How could he just walk away from his child who was only 5 years old and his birthday was two days to date. How could he be so selfish?

Lights flashed in his eyes and he can hear a voice shouting "EMERGENCY! Make way!"

Then everything was blurred by the darkness that surrounds him.

His wife's voice kept shouting and calling his name.

"Chad please don't leave me! Come back to us, I'm begging you. How could you be so selfish?"

"See your wife thinks you are selfish enough. The choice is yours," said the old man.

"She is right. I have never been so selfless unlike her. She gave up her promising career just for my sake."

"You are given a month or two to choose. Choose well." Then the old man disappeared in thin air.

"So here I am--left with a choice. Am I dreaming? Is this a dream?"

JUST AS WHAT HE'S THINKING

"Honey! Hon! It's almost late. I'm waking you up a little while but you're still sleeping."

"You're soaked with sweat. Have you been having a nightmare?", asked his concerned wife Dianne.

Looking at his watch. "That was a seemingly realistic nightmare. I could have died just thinking of it. Silly me."

"Help me with my documents, I must prepare for my appointments today. It almost got me late for the first time," as he rushed towards the bathroom.

"Where are my keys?"

"At the door. I have already prepared it before hand and your things too."

"Ok. Kiss little Ranger for me. See you at 5 o'clock at the school."

"Yes, hon---

She was not yet done speaking when she heard the car door slam and the engine started off.

"He never cared that much anymore. Does he still love me?"

Dianne pitied herself. She grabbed her towel and headed in the bathroom the gold plated mirror greeted her with her reality. She stood there for a while looking straight at her worn out self.

"There's hardly a lady in me anymore. Maybe that's the reason why he can't even look me in the eye," Dianne whispered to herself.

"You, are you lost baby girl?" she joked herself.

Haha. That's quiet a good laugh.

"Ok, I can see clearly why my husband even think of me as a wife," she said and mocked herself. Looking at the men-filled products in the bathroom. Not even a lady shampoo nor a lotion nor even just a shampoo for a woman is in sight.

"No wonder," she again pointed at herself in the mirror.

Pathetic but not apologetic.

"She is quiet a woman," the old man said. As he left the her joking at herself at the mirror.

He passed by the sleeping baby Kylle. He sleeps peacefully wandering in dream land.

May you be as humorous as your mom he whispered at the baby.

"I cast this spell to this woman," then the old man left as gold dust filled the foot prints he had walked on.

Dianne finished bathing as she remembered she left the gas stove cooking her son's meal.

"Goodness! Are those real gol---"

She rushed to see and test it.

Where on earth did these come from?

"So strange"

She touched some and grabbed her gold tester.

She gasped.

"It's real! How on earth? And who?!----"

She run to check her baby. She grabbed something hard to use if ever the culprit is there.

She checked the door. It's locked. She looked around carefully. Dianne reached for her phone and scrolled for her husband's name but as soon as she was going to call him she remembered his words.

"Don't call me if it is not important. Don't be silly."

Tears rolled down on her cheeks.

"I can't even call him."

She sank on her own perdition.

She got up after crying like an hour. She packed her things, the she was about to get the baby's things but they're gone.

"Weird, where are my baby's things."

*cring cring cring. Someone's knocking on the door.

When she opened the door.

"Surprise!"

"Jamie! Oh how long have you been home?!"

"What? what are you talking about? Isn't it like a week ago when I last visited you?," Jamie surprisingly asked.

"It was seven years ago when you went to London for your business," Dianne asked.

"You must be kidding me. I wasn't able to go to London since I did not yet have my pass. And seriously seven years? Dianne have you been taking your sleeping pills again?"

"Hey! What's that?! You're not married?? Aren't you Mrs Dawson?!"

"Gosh, Dih we're just heading towards our dream and yet you're talking about getting married? For God's sake, pull off this joke of yours. I was just passing by since I was told you are not to join in our Junior's Party tonight. Here's a dress, go on fit it. Then wear this tonight. I'll be waiting for you at your door. See you at 6 pm."

Jamie left leaving Dianne numb founded.

"What is she talking about? Junior's Party? Seriously?"

"She checked every corner but her baby cannot be found. She started dialing her in-laws contacts and every body else but they were all the same, "the number you have dialled is an invalid contact number."

Lastly, she called for her mom.

"Hello honey why are you calling this early in the morning?"

"Mom I cannot find Kylle"

"Who's Kylle? Is she a new friend or is she even a he or she?"

"Mom, he is my son! For Christ's sake!"

"You are not even married honey, what are you talking about? Are you ok?Hone---

Dianne hang up and ended the call.

"So what it is now? Seriously, have I gone mad? Insane? Am I dreaming?"

She dropped herself on the ground. Then the calendar caught her attention. The year was 1998.

"What??"

She pulled the calendar. Surprised, bewildered, puzzled. Was I dreaming and just woke up from a terrible dream?

She looked for all the albums and pictures but there was no baby pictures. She run towards her secret box, there's no ring inside it.

"So I'm a distracted, burdened, pathetic, foolish lost virgin."What's your name?

She looked for all the albums and pictures but there was no baby pictures. She run towards her secret box, there's no ring inside it.

"So I'm a distracted, burdened, pathetic, foolish lost virgin."

Heavy snow have covered the whole of the country. It was foretold that it will be difficult to move around and it was adviced one would be safe at home. Dianne can not believe what's going on, she sat herself on the couch. A tea rests on the mini table that used to be her baby's table.

"All of my baby's things are gone but here you are, the only thing that reminds me of my baby. How weird?"

"Am I in a sort of time machine or time travel of that sort?"

Dianne kept thinking that she slept on the couch.

She mustered all her courage and tried living her past even if she went back to her past.

She figured out it's better to live with her mom since it is safer there. On her phone, there were only ten contacts, these were the only one close to her when she was studying in college.

She scrolled and searched for her mom's number.

"Please leave a message."

"Hey mom, I missed you so much. May I stay there for a while, I've been feeling lonely."

Carrying herself to the kitchen, she opened the fridge and one particular food shocked her. It was Chad's favorite menu in a tub. "Kimchi!"

If this year is really 1998 then how come Chad's Kimchi is here?

She checked the expiry date and it was "2012"

She dropped on the floor in shock, questioning what is going on...

And suddenly the door sounded like someone is trying to enter.

"Who is that?"

Her instinct commanded her to get a hold of herself and grab something to defend herself. Quickly she took the pan. She awaits like a prepared canon ready to strike at the enemy.

Then all of a sudden, "Dih, I have bought you some ice cream, guess what's the flavor? Mangggooo."

"Dad?!"

"What the?! what happened?! You look as if you are looking at a ghost?"

"Dad... " She run towards him and hugged him tightly. I thought I will never see you again after the accident you never came back."

Old Jack trembled as if he knew about the accident, but he shifted to the left and looked straight to Dih's eyes, "I don't know but somehow I am puzzled... But honey, were you taking drugs? Any pill?"

"Dad, no."

Jamie told me that she came by and you look terrible, I visited you to see for myself. And I can only say, pack your things we will go home.

"You will be transfered at the Academy. I have already arranged everything and no meed for you to get your papers at the school, my assistant had already worked on your documents. I will be waiting for you outside, a short while the cargo truck will be pulling over. You have enough time to pack all your things."

There are cargo boxes in the kitchen so she went inside to get everything. It only took her an hour or so in packing all her things.

"Maybe, it is this place that haunts me. Then, I need to leave it all here. I need to move on. I need to wake up from that horrible dream. Chad was never my husband and I never had a son."

As she closed the master's bed room, she saw something in a peripheral view. Every tiny hairs on her skin stood up as if there's something or someone there. She could not even move her feet,.she stood frozen. And words cannot pass through her mouth.

She felt so helpless.

Then, a lady, a beautiful goddess like lady came out from the master's bed room.

"You have not figured everything out yet. But sooner or later you need to choose your final path. Your life and everyone around you. You are given this chance, a test rather. So you need to choose wisely."

She gave her a key.

"You just need to follow your path. A decisive one will be chosen. You was never given a chance to prove your self. Have you ever asked why there were feathers in your home? Have you ever wondered why there's blood on the doorstep? Then there were patterns of gold on those foot prints?"

"This key will help you decide which way to choose. But, every decision you will make will have consequences. And in the end, you will only blame yourself. Yourself will be accountable for everything you decide, Today."

Then, she went away and disappeared.

---------------------------------------------------

The television was too loud that Dianne woke up from her dream.

"What a terrible dream."

She checked the time and it was almost midnight.

Her head is spinning around and she feels dizzy. She stood up and went on to have a pill or two. She reads all the label and she came across eith a medicine bottle with a sign. "Never drink this"

Why on earth will she nit drink it?

The telephone rung in her bedroom.

Her mom's voice can be heard since the door is left open and there is no single noise outside the busy city.

"Dih, it's mom. Come home, I had a dream last night and your dad spoke to me asking no, begging me for you to come home, I don't know but I have a feeling that something is nit right, a haunting, a horrifying experience I had felt when I visited your flat. There is a negative vibe inside your home. Someone's obsessed to have you. I have checked it with a Shaman and she confirmed, you are haunted.------"

Then the call ended.

With those words, Dianne never felt terrified before, she hugged her self with both her arms and started praying. There is this dark air suffocating her mind. And something's blocking her concentration.

Then as she was concluding her prayer as if a light had enveloped her. And she felt at ease.

"Then I am right. There is something about this flat."

Maybe a ripper, a goblin, a dwarf or an enchantress. But she only used her Shaman side to dwarf off any negativity in the house, she poured on some uncooked rice and mixed in some salt. She tried dispersing some on the floor. From the doorstep to the hallways to the kitchen. This flat is massive.

She was about to disperse some in the master's bedroom but the thought of Chad had once lived there antagonize and pain her so much.

Three steps away and she will be reaching the door but suddenly it opened by itself.

"Yeah, I now believe there is some sort of evil or demonic or enchantic in this room but whoever you are I am not afraid." She protested as she walked inside the room.

She turned on the light and to her surprise there's a picture of her baby. "What is this?! Why?! Am I a joke to you?!"
