Chapter 33

"Dinner was served, and everyone sat at the table except Jack. As everyone waited patiently for Jack, Zane's phone rang.

"Hey."

"Zane, where are you? I'm at your house and I can't find you. You've been ignoring my calls and texts all week. What's wrong?" Maya spoke over the phone with a shaking tone.

"I've been trying to give you a hint, but you just don't get it. I'm breaking up with you," Zane said, grabbing everyone's attention at the table, except for Zach, who was busy with his phone.

"What!? You can't do that! Why are you breaking up with me?" Maya broke down in tears.

"I'm just bored and tired of this relationship. I'm actually in New York right now, so delete my number and never contact me again," Zane said before hanging up.

"That's brutal," Ariana stated.

"How long has the relationship lasted?" Anika asked.

"About three weeks," Zane replied.

"I gave birth to a player," Alexa glared at Zane.

"Aren't you proud of me, Mom?" Zane teased.

"I should just kill you," Alexa grabbed her cutlery, intending to throw it at Zane, but Anika stopped her.

"But Maya is a sweet girl, and I'm just..."

"Bored?" Anika asked.

"Exactly."

"Where were you two last night?" Zach asked with a stern tone.

"At Tyler's," Anika answered.

**********

Last night, Tyler drove Anika to his place since she was drunk. He tried to stop her, but she wouldn't listen. He carried her piggyback and gently laid her down on his bed. As he observed her face, she looked cute and peaceful, cheeks flushed.

He sat on the bed, removed her shoes to make her more comfortable, then quickly showered and got dressed. He decided to check on Anika before sleeping but couldn't find her in his bedroom. He found her in the wine cellar.

"Anika, what are you doing here?" Tyler asked, shocked.

"Trying to find something to drink," Anika hiccupped, picking a bottle of wine.

"You've had enough for today. Hand me the wine," Tyler demanded, trying to take the bottle, but Anika ran away with it.

"Anika, stop running," he chased her, caught her, and snatched the bottle.

"Tyler, you jerk," she cried, hitting his chest in annoyance.

"Give me the bottle. I want to drink more!"

Ignoring her, Tyler carried her back to his bedroom. Anika continued kicking, but Tyler didn't let her go. He placed her on the bed, and Anika burst into tears.

"Just give me a glass, please?" Anika begged, pouting her lips. Tyler chuckled; even though she was drunk, she was acting cute.

"No," he replied.

"Just one glass."

"No."

"How about a drop?"

"No."

"I hate you," Anika cried louder.

"Okay, fine. Tomorrow, I'll let you have all the wine."

Anika's eyes lit up. "Really?"

"Yes, now go to bed."

"I have a headache," she complained, furrowing her brows, and hugged Tyler for comfort.

"It'll subside if you rest," he patted her back.

"Okay," she said and broke the hug.

"Now go to sleep," he urged.

Anika pouted her lips, fluttered her lashes, and Tyler laughed inwardly. He felt like recording her drunk self and showing it to her later to tease her. Anika slowly leaned in toward Tyler's face, and her lips landed softly on his.

Tyler was speechless and stunned. He smiled but shook away the thought of kissing her. Anika leaned in again, and this time, he couldn't resist and kissed her back. Their lips parted, and Tyler immediately regretted his action. Anika was supposed to be like his little sister.

"If Zach finds out about this, he will kill me. Anika, go to bed," Tyler said, his expressionless face masking his inner turmoil.

"Don't you wanna kiss me?" Anika asked playfully, not listening to Tyler, and kissed him again with passion.

"Anika! Snap out of it!" Anika snapped out of her reverie.

"Did something happen between you last night?" Zane asked suspiciously.

"No!"

"No!" she exclaimed, denying anything between them last night.
