Whatever It Takes

"Dad, what's wrong with following my fiance around?" Lucille, who was being scolded, complained with a sad face.

If you like someone, shouldn't you try your best to persuade him/her? She didn't think there was anything wrong with that.

The father and daughter were in a stalemate, and Younes asked with a smile, "Lucille,I know you like Franklin so much, so if i tell you that Franklin is going to marry you, will that give you a rest of mind?"

Tonight, the purpose was to announce the marriage between the two families. If Lucille could agree on the spot, it wold undoubtedly be an extra help.

Franklin had been disagreeing, so he could only use this coercive means to change his mind.

When Lucille heard that she could marry Franklin, she nodded happily, "Okay, of course!" Her wish since she was a child was to marry Franklin, so how could she refuse?

"Dad..." Franklin, who had been silent the whole time, called out in a low voice. Was it finally happening?

"Lambert, you shouldn't object to this." Younes did not respond to Franklin, but told Lambert with a smile.

"I have no objection, but marriage is a big matter and it's up to the young people."

Looking at the two people singing and shouting, Franklin felt sarcastic in his heart. Everything had been arranged long ago, so why bother to put on a pretentious show?

Mary, who was standing by, sipped champagne and snorted with disdain.

"It's so lively here, you don't mind if I join you, do you?" Jermaine, who appeared out of nowhere, walked towards them with a gentle smile.

When Lucille saw that it was Jermaine, her pretty face turned cold. "Hey, we are talking about family matters, why do you need too join us?"

"Hey Lucille, don't be rude to Jermaine." Recognizing that the man was the young underworld leader, Lambert spoke with some politeness. After all, his own family was a prestigious family in City New York too.

"Jermaine, you've come just in time. By the way, you can serve as a witness for today." Younes walked to the podium and instructed the assistant beside him. "Let the reporters in. I have something important to announce."

The assistant took the order and walked out of the hall. Gareth wanted to stop him, but Jermaine blocked him with his hand. He believed that Franklin had his own way.

Franklin was shaking the wine glass without showing any sign of haste, and was savoring the wine carefully.

"Hey, why do you need to hold a press conference?" Mary asked in confusion.

Hearing this, Lambert just smiled and said nothing. No one could hinder what they had agreed on.

Soon, a large number of reporters rushed in, with their cameras pointed directly at Younes on the podium.

One after another, they asked, "Mr. Larson, you have been out of the limelight for a long time, why are you attending this meeting today?"

"You are meeting with the president of the Henderson Group of Companies today. Is it because he is going to be your brother-in-law, or do you intend to partner with them initially?"

"Mr. Larson, you've made great contributions to the Larsons becoming a leader in America's business community. How do you evaluate your son in the position of the company's president now?"

Younes frowned impatiently at the questions that came one after another, and moved closer to the microphone on the table, "I am holding this reception today, firstly to welcome the Henderson family, and secondly, I have a happy event to announce to everyone."

His words sparked a discussion among the guests present.

"Franklin, if you don't say anything now, the matter will become a foregone conclusion." Jermaine, who was leaning against the pillar, raised his eyebrows and looked at Franklin.

Franklin smiled and responded. "The good show is about to begin, just watch it quietly."

The reporter used his own guess and asked directly: "What is the so-called happy event? Are you partnering with the Hendersons?"

A reporter who was listening to the phone outside the door suddenly ran in, raised the microphone and asked Lambert. "Mr. Henderson, when the stock market opened this afternoon, your company's stock has been falling. I heard that it was related to your forced acquisition of an illegal company not long ago. Is this true?"

"What falling stocks?" Lambert was completely stunned by this sudden question and was unable to react for a while.

When the media on the podium heard this shocking news, they were no longer interested in caring about the planned celebration. They all surrounded Lambert and asked questions one after another.

As Lambert was surrounded by the reporters, Julia who was squeezed out, shouted anxiously. "Security... Security..."

"Dad..." Lucille, who was looking forward to the arranged marriage celebration, was frightened by this scene and didn't know what to do. "....what's going on?"
