5 Humble Beginnings

As Prana and Arne discussed the council's actions, with a lot of loud disbelief coming from Prana. Ren was busy trying to come to terms with what he had heard. He quickly thought up a question in his head calling out to the system. 'I have a system? Like an actual cheat system to use in this world?'

'Host does possess this system and is capable of using it to influence this world. Much of the host previous world's technologies, cultures, and knowledge has been used to influence the makeup of this system and how host will be able to use it. Would the host like to run the tutorial process?'

Ren couldn't help but smile and yell out 'YES!' in his mind, ecstatic at not being totally helpless in this world.

'Host is currently at level one access to the system. Host now has access to several new functions. These functions include the Mapping function, which allows host to create an internal three dimensional map that can be used to navigate host surroundings, mark specific targets or places, and allow for topographical study.

Host also has access to the Research function. This function will allow the host to study any flora, fauna, minerals, or knowledge that this world has to offer over a period of time and understand it at different levels. It also grants access to the technologies and knowledge of the host old world for the host use and implement at host wishes.

Host also has access to the Study function. This function allows the host to take notes on anything the host wishes as well as access any previously learned knowledge from this world or the last. Host may also use this function to instantly learn areas of knowledge, but at a cost depending on the subject.

Finally, host now has access to the Advisory function. This will allow host to request the system for advise, information, or further questions about the systems capabilities. The extent of this knowledge is limited at the system's current level.

In order to further level the system, host must complete certain milestones on the steps towards conquest, pay in gold, or other valued resources, or Advance to the limit of the systems current capabilities. Host was able to unlock the system function by integrating with a local tribe and establishing solid ground to begin host journey to conquest.

Further milestones currently available to the host include:

1. Acquire private base of operations

2. Garner official position within an organizations hierarchy

3. Garner followers

4. Take control of an organization

Further recommended milestones may become available upon the completion of already present milestones or further information about host surroundings and options. Each milestone grants the host rewards to use in the upgrading of the system's level to open further functions, or rewards to exchange for things inside of the system's functions.

In order to access these systems, simply request the system for access and the function requested will be displayed within the host vision.

Does the host have any queries?'

Already a little overwhelmed at a bunch of fantasy novels becoming his reality, he was stunned further by the data dump he just took from the somewhat robotic voice. Taking a breathe as he heard Prana complaining a lot to her father about numerous things, he asked 'Alright. Uh, system bring up the map function.'

A small see through model of what he assumed was the village popped into his sight. It just kind of, floated there. He tried looking at it at another angle, but before he even tilted his head, the model adjusted for him to let him see that angle. Figuring it out from there, he looked around the model and found himself near the center, displayed as a small chess piece looking person. He was surrounded by more like him as well as the rest of the village, or, at least what was within what looked like a square kilometer around him.

He could see the entire village from here, as well as the surrounding fields, and into the nearby forest somewhat. He even saw some of the river nearby.

'System, how large is this village?'

'Answer: population is roughly 800 humans located within a tenth of a kilometer. Primary economic outputs appear to be fish, wood, and rye. Further information requires continued study. System can also scan the area for twenty units. Current host balance stands at one hundred units.'

'No thanks, that's a good enough overview for now. Hmmm, well. It seems this world isn't particularly civilized if this village is any proper first impression, or I've landed in a more rural and empty part of the world. I'll need to look into that Study function.'

Prana finally done with her fit of rage and willing to storm off on her own, but first giving Ren a hard shove in anger, Arne walked over to Ren and said "I am sorry for her behavior. I have tried to teach her about the ways of the gods, but the younger generation has become less trusting ever since some of our previous dealings with the foreigners settlement. They find it harder to trust travelers and give them a the chances that we used to. Please, follow me back to the house. We can talk more about what happens from now on without having to worry about more interruptions."
