Chapter 77 - Careless
In a peaceful forest, animals and other creatures went on with their lives.
A red rabbit-like creature was eating its food when it heard rumbling behind it. As soon as it turned around, a sharp spear stabbed right into its face, killing it in an instant.
The perpetrator was a small green humanoid creature with horrendous features, a goblin. It smirked as it saw the blood spill from the victim.
A group of goblins quickly walked past him as if the sight was a normal occurrence.
The murderer simply pulled his spear back and followed the group.
Behind them was another group of goblins, followed by another and another until there were too many to count.
The sounds of footsteps were loud.
Beasts nearby would immediately run away as soon as they spotted them, wanting to avoid the fate of the rabbit who was too busy to notice their arrival.
The goblins numbered in hundreds. A line of green would be seen if one looked from the sky without the obstructions of the trees.
They were equipped with leather armor along with their weapons. Most wielded swords and spears while some held bows. The ones that scared most of the beasts inside the forest were the goblins riding ferocious wolves who looked like they would pounce and eat you any moment.
At the very front of this group was a goblin that stood out among the small army of goblins. He was bigger and more muscular. He wielded a spear as he rode on his ferocious wolf.
He had an annoyed look as he looked ahead. 'Why do I have to check on those useless scouts?! Argh! I swear!! I'll take his place in the castle one day!'
The goblin leading the group did not look pleased at all. He was ordered a day ago to check and locate those scouts who have not returned.
He wanted to reject the order as he was too busy enjoying the pleasures of women they captured from the village they raided weeks ago. However, the order came from the leader of the castle so he could not refuse.
He was very irritated and angry to think logically about why such orders were made. Added to the fact that he is not a high-ranking goblin with an underdeveloped intelligence, it would be understandable why logic does not run in his head.
As he was busy cursing at his situation, a small glitter of magic quietly spread from the foot of the wolf he rode as it stepped on the grass.
It was so faint that it would be very difficult to notice for an ordinary creature not wielding any mana. Had there been a mage, such signs would be noticed and imply a sense of suspicion.
The goblin leading the group was not capable of magic and added with the current state of his mind, then it would be impossible for him to notice such minuscule detail.
The goblins continued marching as they followed their leader, ignorant of what is to come to them.
A distance away from them was a young elf with silver hair, observing them with a serious expression.
After a moment of observation, the edge of the elf's lips rose as he snapped his fingers.
The faint magic that the goblins walked over started to get chaotic. It was getting stronger to the point that even ordinary goblins finally noticed what was happening. Some goblins stopped walking to look at the scene.
But before they could make a conclusion on what is happening, a sudden explosion occurred and released a powerful mana blast.
As if a signal, more blasts followed all over the goblin army, numbering a total of 20 explosions.
Those near the blast died immediately while those that survived wailed in agony. The unaffected were shocked as they looked at their fellow goblins.
Chaos ensured as groans and panic spread among them, they were confused and did not know what was happening.
But before they could understand their situation and regain order, arrows and spells paraded all over them, leading to greater confusion.
A goblin swordsman was looking at the incoming barrage of arrows and spells and quickly realized that they were under attack.
He immediately took the body of a dead goblin beside him and used him as a shield from the onslaught of arrows. His eyes darted around the source of the arrows and saw elves with a beauty that surpassed anything he had seen.
As implied by his nature, lust was the immediate expression that appeared on his face.
A young beautiful elf who stood amongst the rest quickly caught his attention. She was casting fireballs with a serious expression as she aimed them at the goblins. Her hair flying back as the rush of mana blew them away, creating a picturesque scene that entranced even a goblin.
A lecherous grin appeared on his face, as drools of saliva rapidly leaked from his mouth. He wanted to go and rush to her immediately but the sense of danger held him back.
However, the arrow and spells started slowing down giving the goblin a chance. He immediately threw the body of the goblin whose back was full of arrows, as he rushed towards the beautiful elf he saw with a lustful expression.
The other goblins who survived the trap followed suit. Some had the same expression of lust while charging at the elves while others had an expression of anger and bloodlust. An innocent person would surely run in fear seeing such horrendous creatures running towards them with such lust and anger.
The elves were spread out as they surrounded the small army of goblins in an encirclement. They wanted to make sure that all goblins were killed lest they want an escapee informing the castle of such an attack.
It was risky but they compensated for it by taking advantage of the natural environment. They made sure to position themselves in places where they can easily kill the incoming goblins while the other side would have difficulty in doing the same.
The lustful goblin who saw Yue's beauty ran and charged in her direction. He didn't care even when an arrow grazed his cheek before killing the goblin behind him. The last amount of survival instincts he had was slowly disappearing as he got a clearer image of her.
The goblin was frustrated that he didn't get a taste of the women they raided a week ago. Their leader and others took them leaving him with none. Seeing such beautiful elves who had beauty way more than the villagers they captured, made him excited and lose his reasoning. His goal was to get her before his leader does.
He ran and ran, and was nearing her.
There were only five meters between him and his target, the horrendous goblin's eyes widened with crazed lust as he jumped in the air and pounced towards her direction. The young elven lady simply looked in his direction without much care. The goblin was curious why she had such an expression. Through his experience, his victims would always have this look of horror, but this young lady had none of that.
He wondered why, but soon realized that it was due to a sword that was stabbed right through his chest.
The owner of the sword had features similar to the elven lady that he targeted, his eyes fiercely looking at him as if he wanted nothing else but to torture him. The goblin snapped from his crazed lust.
He shook in fear as those eyes piercingly looked at him with absolute danger. It was a gaze much more powerful than his leader. No, perhaps it was much more powerful than the goblin king he saw once.
Before he could think further, pain spread on his chest as the sword stuck through him was twisted before getting pulled out. Blood splattered out of his chest as he wailed in agony.
As if it was not enough, the sword came back and decapitated both of his arms. The goblin fell to his knees as he cried in pain.
His neck was exposed as if a perfect target. The sword moved at fast speed and accurately sliced his head off.
His head flew as the goblin's vision slowly darkened. The last few things he saw was a fierce glare directed at him before seeing a ball of fire that struck him.
---
'How dare he look at my sister like that!!' Avery thought as he launched the fireball that he conjured towards the bodiless head of the goblin.
The goblin's head burned to a crisp, but that was not enough for him. He then quickly brought his sword and stabbed it directly into the crotch of the headless goblin.
A splat sound was heard as all sorts of liquid spread from the crotch.
Seeing such scene, "Isn't that too much?" Yue asked as she tilted her head to the right. A faint smile on her lips as she looked at her big brother.
Her question appears to be in disagreement with what Avery did but her expression says otherwise. She knew why he acted like that. She saw the goblin rushing towards her with a lustful expression, she was about to deal with it, but her big brother suddenly came and brutally killed the goblin.
Hearing his sister, Avery quickly calmed himself down before looking back at her. "I was being merciful. Such lustful expression directed towards my little sister deserves to be tortured more before dying."
Yue giggled at his response before saying, "Big brother can be cute sometimes."
Avery simply smiled, he knew such things would not bother her as getting used to such scenes was part of the training that their parents instilled into them.
"Anyway, we still have to deal with the rest of the goblins," Avery said as he looked at the surviving goblins rushing towards them. Some were already engaged in a fight with the elven soldiers. While others were still running as they tried to avoid the arrows aimed at them.
His gaze then shifted to the globin leader that was being bombarded with numerous arrows and spells non-stop. "Especially that goblin leader, our mages and archers won't be able to hold him much longer."
"Right. We need to do as much damage before they could properly retaliate." Yue agreed, as she quickly conjured her improved fireball as she looked at the current situation on the battlefield.
