Ch 8

Several minutes later, after having made sure that Dick was properly messed with for the purpose of his amusement, Arthur was making notes on a blank page of one of his notebooks. He was making a list of the things he needed to do before he could be ready for actually heading out and do some hero work.

First of all, he needed to research how steel was made and then watch some tutorials on how to forge steel into a basic set of armor he could use for protection. He also needed to learn how to forge weapon. And finally, he needed to find a place to learn a few combat techniques that weren't potentially lethal even without tools designed to kill. Once again, he didn't one to murder someone Randomly, He knew that a lot of criminals in Gotham deserve to die, but a lot of them do it out of necessity. so he cant just strike to kill everybody he met

With a rough plan made for the day, Arthur closed the notebook and decided to pay attention to all his classes for the rest of the school day. He needed to keep his grades up after all.

[Connection to the Celestial Forge establish: Weapons Recombination Template (Final Fantasy XIII-2) (100CP)]

[Weapons Recombination Template (Final Fantasy XIII-2) (100CP) :The shady dealer just shrugs when you pick this up. Apparently, it binds two weapons together, and allows you to shapeshift the weapon between either form. You're not quite sure how it works, but he demonstrates it to you by showing you how a bow can shift into a sword. You can't help but notice that it also turned into a Moogle afterwards...but apparently yours won't do that. Unless you throw a Moogle into the mix. This perks allows User to combine any two weapons into a single item that can shift at will between the two forms of the weapons that were combined.]

The prompt appeared after school end in his way going back home with his driver, though he only had a moment to read and assimilate its contents before it disappeared on its own. And the moment it went away, Arthur went into a trance as his head began to be filled with information. When the 'information trance' ended, Arthur shook his head reflexively.

The name of the ability was Weapons Recombination Template and what it allowed him to do was simple. Combine any two things that could be considered a weapon into a single item that could shift into the forms of either of the two weapons that were combined.

The ability seemed underwhelming at first glance, but it was actually a very useful and versatile ability to have. It would, for example, allow Arthur to effectively carry two weapons at the same time but with only needing to deal with the weight and space of one. Not only that, but being able to switch weapons on the fly during a fight would help him dictate the flow of said battle more easily.

Now, that begged the question, why was Arthur automatically thinking about how to apply his abilities in a combat scenario? Well, there were reason for it. it was that after training for years with Jacob, his mindset was pretty predisposed to combat. Arthur wasn't exactly a battle junkie, far from it, but more often than not he found himself thinking about how he would hypothetically fight someone and how he could beat them with what he had on hand during said hypothetical scenario.

After getting a lot of perk lately, Arthur also got a fair amount of insight into how the prompt window aspect of his powers worked. To make a long story short, he would be randomly getting abilities related to 'crafting', both technological and magical in nature, as well as the knowledge to make use of those abilities in any way he saw fit.

While the random bit was more than just a bit annoying to Arthur , the literal endless possibilities of abilities he could get more than made up for it. Not only that, but Arthur was also sure that if he were smart about it, he could make use of the abilities he would be getting in ways that took them far beyond what they were originally intended for.

Arriving at home Arthur made his way to his room to change into a more comfortable clothes, After that made his way to the armory located within the manor, which he thankfully had unrestricted access to.

Having the unconditional trust of a retired US marine colonel that ran a company with a PMC branch came with its perks.

Once he made it to the armory, Arthur looked for the type of weapons he had the most familiarity with. And those were combat knives and handguns. Knife work was an intrinsic element of the martial arts he practiced and him knowing how to shoot a handgun was only natural so there was no need to explain why he was familiar with them.

Arthur went back to his room, lock his door before going back to his personal reality going to the Workshop.

He decided to make use of his workshop to combine the blunted knives and the rubber bullet handguns he's found. By using the space to make his combined weapons it counted as creating a new item in the mysterious building. He didn't need to use the equipment, or the materials provided by it for the self-repairing effect to take place. He just needed to create something while he was inside.

Arthur knelt down on the floor of the Workshop and pulled out a pair of blunted knives and a pair of rubber bullet handguns. He put one knife and one handgun each next to the other and made sure that both pairs were only touching themselves. Once he was ready, Arthur took a deep breath and put one hand above each pair of weapons and channeled his ability into them.

The two pairs of weapons began to glow brightly, and Arthur was forced to squint his eyes in order to even somewhat keep from being blinded. Honestly it might have been smarter to close them fully but he refused to shut his eyes completely because he wanted to watch the whole process.

When the weapons were completely engulfed by the light, they began to merge together slowly, their glowing forms superposing over one another as they shifted repeatedly between the form of a blunted knife and a gun. The whole process took almost an entire minute and when it was done, something made clear by the sudden lack of a bright light stabbing into his retinas, Arthur was left with two items instead of four.

With a grin on his face, Arthur picked up the pair of blunted knives, the weapons having adopted that as their default configuration because of his personal preference when he created them. He had figured he might have more influence over the crafting process than just initiating it, and it seemed his little experiment had been a success. Arthur focused a bit and the knives flashed for an instant before they shifted into the guns.

A quick check also revealed that the ammo magazine were fully loaded with rubber bullet … which gave Arthur an idea. And idea that would be game changing if it checked out.

With the handguns in hand, Arthur walked out of the Workshop and went into the Warehouse, an excited and expectant expression on his face. He quickly found an appropriate spot that would serve him well for the quick experiment he was about to perform.

From what he deemed a safe distance, Arthur aimed at the steel wall of the warehouse and took a single shot at it with each gun. He watched the bullets bounce off leaving no dent at surface, which meant that walls were made out of an alloy stronger than steel, because a .45 round even if it rubber bullet, would have put at least a bit of a dent in a normal corrugated steel wall.

Arthur didn't dwell on that though. Instead, he switched the guns to knives and back quickly. Excitedly, he checked the magazines… only to frown in disappointment when he saw that they hadn't reloaded themselves.

Well, there went his dreams of having infinite ammo…
