Confused: Nichole

Nichole. A girl whom many, for unknown reasons, fear. The 'quiet kid', the one that, in the event of a school shooter, they'd be the one with the gun. At least, that's what most of the student body of WHS see. What they don't see, however, is the girl who can't seem to grasp even the most basic ideas of emotion. The girl who has long seeked out the meaning of the anomaly called love. The girl who wakes every morning wondering why she has an ache in her chest. The mental scars that not even Nichole herself sees. This is a story that follows a young teenager as she goes through life, seeking to understand both herself, and others, just a little bit better, and maybe, just maybe, find the meaning of love along the way. I've never written a book before, and honestly, this was a spur of the moment idea. If this ever does get published on here, just know that it's likely going to be a bit bland and not well done. Don't expect too many updates unless I just have some sudden inspiration. Anyways, enjoy! This is being written on Wattpadd originally, check it out there if you want, or not, up to you!

School

Quickly exiting the bus, Nichole enters the school and makes her way to her first class; World History. Ignoring the stares, the thick crowd of students seem to part out of her way as she turns towards the long corridor leading to her classroom. Entering the classroom like every other morning, she makes her way to the back, where she sits. Alone. Placing her bag down, she pulls out her earbuds and phone, turning on Disturbed and finding a new book to read, deciding on

Stitches.

Some time passes and in enters a short brunette; Olivia. One of the few people that Nichole sees as something more than just 'acquaintances.' Olivia stops at the doorway, looking for any familiar faces, and after her gaze falls upon a certain gothic girl in the corner, a sweet smile blooms across her face. Olivia makes her way through the classroom and plops down into the chair beside Nichole, only earning a glance her way in the process.

"Heyyy," Olivia greets with that smile hers, only to be met with silence. "Hellooooo," she waves a hand in front of the girls face. Nichole looks over slowly, and only after staring for what seems like an eternity to Olivia, with that dull look of hers, does she, at a snail's pace, take out her earbuds. "Finally! Was that such a hard task?! How have you been Nikky," this only earns a harsh glare from the girl.

"It was going a lot better before you came along, Liv," states Nichole, still glaring at Liv, who responds with smile.

"Ooh, riiight... Uh, sorry, forgot that you don't like that name..," Liv sheepishly says while rubbing the back of her neck. Nichole goes to put her earbuds back in, believing the conversation to be over, only for one to be grabbed from her hands. "So, what we listenin' to this morning.. Oh, roock, you should try listening to something different. Something like, I don't know, more cheery, less screaming maybe," Nichole gives the lady a look that just seems to scream Are you an idiot?, Liv just puts her hands up in defeat, showing she won't push it.

"Mhm, how are you doing Liv," Nichole asks, looking at Liv with genuine interest, a slight curve to the corner of her lips that most people would miss. Seeing this, Liv can't help but smile, knowing she, after all of these years, is finally managing to get this doll to express herself, no matter how small.

"I'm doing great now that you're around," she wraps her arms around the dirty blonde in front of her, totally not feeling her muscles out in the process, and nuzzles her head in to the girl's neck, breathing in the familair smell of her coconut shampoo, and the faint smell of weed? on her clothes. She dismisses those thoughts as the girl in question, begrudgingly, wraps her arms around the brunette.

"I missed you...," Nichole whispers silently, so silently in fact, that it's missed by Liv.

Liv removes her head from the crook of Nichole's neck, and looks at her, "Did you say something," she asks, believing she heard something.

Nichole just gives her a confused look and shakes her head, denying the girl of the truth, and brings Liv back into the hug. This being the first time she's willingly extended a hug, Liv almost squeals in delight, squeezing tighter.

*Riiiing

Liv jumps in her seat, hitting Nichole in the side of the head in the process, effectively breaking the hug and hurting herself, while Nichole just sits there as if nothing happened before grabbing the necessary supplies for the class. Liv, rubbing her head, slowly pulls out her stuff as well.

The teacher walks on and class starts.

Consisting mostly of Liv trying to get funny reactions out of Nichole and paying little attention to the class, while Nichole diligently taking notes, not because she needs them, having an almost photographic memory and all, but because she knows Liv will ask for them later. The bell rings again and Nichole while Liv looks at the clock in confusion.

"Class is over...," she trails off in thought, before her eyes widen in shock, "...and I didn't take notes!" She looks at her oh-so-kind-and-compassionate friend with expectation in her eyes. Nichole simply points to the notebook in front of the brown eyed girl, who looks at it with happiness apparent on her face, before standing up to leave. As she's about to walk towards the door, a loud noise invades her ears.

*Screeee

Nichole looks at Liv, who suddenly stood up, now facing her, as Liv wraps her arms around the taller girls neck, slowly standing on the tips of her toes. Looking at those dull, ocean blue eyes, Liv closes her eyes while Nichole looks down on confusion, before shock spreads over her face as the smaller girl's lips land on her cheek.

Liv holds the kiss for a few seconds before pulling away, giving the shocked girl a cheeky grin, "Thank you!" Liv grabs her bag before almost sprinting to her next class.

Nichole puts a hand to the spot kissed, rubbing it slightly, before an almost unnoticeable blush appears, and she looks at the doorway with an almost dreamy look. Shaking her head, she pulls herself way from her fantasies, lacking any confidence in that department, before grabbing her bag, which she seems to have dropped in the moment, and making her way towards her class.

Switching to Liv's current class, she can be seen in the back smacking herself in the cheeks. 'Ugh, I'm such an idiot. She doesn't like people touching her, why would I kiss her! Even if it's just on the cheeks, that's still a big no-no for her. She's going to hate me!' With thoughts like these plaguing her mind throughout the class, she's startled out of it, once again, at the sound of the bell.

Dreading her next class, knowing she'll have to confront Nichole, she sluggishly makes her way through the hall, bumping into a few people along the way.

Liv stops at the doorway, takes in a deep breath, and puts on her best smile, knowing that this confrontation can't be avoided. Walking in, she feels an intense stare on her, locking eyes with the owner of the stare, she visibly shrinks. 'Oh God, she never initiates eye contact!'
