Get Out

"Remember, I never said anything, alright?" Keita reminds me as he steps into Knox's room. He didn't even wait till Knox closed the bathroom door before he started making his way here.

"Not even a good morning, or a happy birthday?" I raise an eyebrow at him, holding Cerberus close to me as he continues to pant and drip drool onto the ground. "And I don't even know what you were talking about, so don't worry about it."

"Alright good," He exhales a breath and takes a seat in Knox's gaming chair. "Besides, I already told you happy birthday a few hours ago, so I don't see why you have to bring that up."

I shrug and let out a little laugh, his muscles tense for a moment as he stares at Cerberus, watching the big dog pant like he just ran a marathon in the blazing hot heat. "How do I know that it was actually you texting me though." He squints and we lock eyes. "Who knows, maybe somebody else took your phone, pretended to be you and now you're being forced to act as though you were the one texting me." He chuckles softly, his pearly white teeth peeking through. "Blink twice if you're in danger."

His laughter grows into a holler, making Cerberus tilt his head from side to side and gaze at him curiously. Him and I lock eyes once more, I watch closely, waiting for the blink. His deep brown eyes are solemn and welcoming as opposed to his muscular physique. I can't remember if he has a girlfriend right now or not, but surely if he did then he'd be spending as much time with her as he could, and he'd be bragging about her too. So he either doesn't have a girlfriend or isn't proud of dating her. The shower continues to fill up the background noise, along with Knox's mother who is currently making pancakes. It was kind of odd when the first thing she said to me was what I wanted for breakfast, like why didn't she ask Knox first?

"You good?" Keita asks, taking me out of my daydream. He's raising an eyebrow at me, still not looking away from my eyes. He raises a hand and waves it in front of me, "Hello? Earth to Alina."

My body jolts, and Cerberus nearly smothers me with kisses. "Yup I'm alive."

Cerberus hops on top of me, and Keita laughs in the background as he watches me get mauled by my pitbull. "Not for much longer at this rate."

"Death by slobber," I roll my head from side to side in an attempt to keep him away from me. "Doesn't sound like a too embarrassing way to go out."

"What would be the most embarrassing way to go out?" He asks, spinning in the chair and ignoring the fact that I'm still getting mauled by my dog.

Finally managing the strength to push the beast off of me, I sit back up and pet him till he finally lays down. "Maybe stubbing your toe, or slipping on a banana."

He laughs, his voice clearly carrying all the way out of the room now. "How would someone die by stubbing their toe?"

I shrug, "Stub it hard enough to bleed out. Stub it, fall to the ground in pain and crack their head open. Stub it, bump into someone behind them and cause a change reaction of people and things falling to the point that you die. The list goes on."

"Geeze, you clearly know what you're doing," He chuckles. "How do I know that you've never caused something like that to happen and make it look like an accident?"

I smirk mischievously and lock eyes with him once more, "If I tell you then I'd have to kill you, can I tell you?"

"Nah," He shakes his head. "I'd rather not stub my toe today."

"Who said it was going to be today?" I grin and he shows an expression of fear. In a low, intimidating whisper I add, "You'll never suspect when it may or may not happen."

The shower shuts off, and there's no time between that and when Knox exits the washroom. For a moment it looked as though Keita was going to flee but then he relaxes back into Knox's chair like nothing's wrong. I wonder what Knox's reaction is going to be. I wonder why Keita was so timid for a moment.

There are rushed footsteps over to the room, and before we know it, Knox is pissed, glaring at his brother with a deathly stare. "What the fuck are you doing in my room?" Knox nearly shouts. Cerberus goes to jump up on him again but I pull him back.

"What's up?" He nods at his brother then glances at me. "Alina and I were just chatting."

"Get out," Knox responds blankly. He's clothes are wet and put on terribly, he must've heard Keita's voice coming from his room and rushed over.

Keita grunts as he lifts himself back up to his feet, placing a hand on Knox's shoulder as he passes by, "Happy birthday man." The entire house is silent other than Keita's footsteps back up the stairs. Knox watches as he reaches the top, then takes a step into the room and shuts the door behind him.

"Are you feeling okay?" I ask calmly, gazing at him with remorse. I knew I should've stayed home today or at least waited till he woke up first. I'm pissing everyone off, I should just go home and let Knox enjoy his birthday without any drama.

"Yeah, I'm fine," He responds, slowly making his way back over to his bed and sitting next to me, doing his best to ignore the puddle of slobber on top of his blanket. "Headache just came back, so I'm a little irritable." He winces as he looks over to me, reaching a hand over to scratch the back of Cerberus' ears. "Is it fine if I take a nap for a bit? I'm sorry to do this to you."

I smile, "Of course you can, it is your birthday too after all." Getting up off the bed to let him lay down, Cerberus follows suit, I tuck him in under the covers. "Want me to wake you up when breakfast is made?"

"Just bring it down for me, we can eat together in my room and watch videos," He responds tiredly, shoving his head into his pillows and covering his face with his blanket.

"Alright," I grin and shut the lights off, darkness fills the room. "Rest up well."
