Chapter 9

The dagger flied and hit the rabbit. However, the rabbit managed to evade the dagger from hitting its vital spot. Dean took the chance and ran as fast as possible towards the injured rabbit. With another dagger in his hand, he stabbed the rabbit. Blood gushed out from the rabbit wound and a notification appeared.

'Normal grade rabbit killed. Rabbit core and rabbit pelt obtain'

"Hah hah hah," Dean breathe heavily from running too fast. He pulled out the dagger from the rabbit's body and picked up the rabbit body and put it in his storage.

Whenever a monster was killed, the core, item drop and soul will immediately enter the storage once obtained. Item drop was different than the monsters remain. The rabbit item dropped was their pelt. When someone killed the rabbit and get the rabbit pelt, the pelt was formed in the same way as the core. So, the rabbit won't lose the pelt from their body. The item dropped was always in good quality.

"Yes! I did it. I killed a rabbit," Dean was stretching his hand in the air doing the triumphant pose.

'Good for you. Are you going to hunt for another rabbit?' asked Sys.

"Sys, I want to register the rabbit pelt and the core" Sys processed the registration. The rabbit core and pelt disappeared and registered in the system. Dean went to hunt more rabbit for the rabbit soul.

The hunt for the rabbit soul went on for another three days, however, Dean failed to get the rabbit soul after killing many of them. Dean almost gave up because it was not easy hunting rabbit at his current level and it had been three days and still no soul.

Dean went back to camp 7, got his dinner and went back to his room.

'Dean, you can create new slime' Sys told Dean it was time to create a new slime. Dean took a shower and lying on his bed.

"Sys, just create a new slime with red as their color. Name its Red Slime," said Sys while lying on his bed. He was too tired to bother customize the slime by himself. He just needed to change the color and he was done. Sys can do something simple like that.

'New slime, Red Slime create' the system notified Dean.

"Sys~ should I give up getting the rabbit soul" Dean was too tired running around for the rabbit. He used too many of the blue slime soul to kill a rabbit. He felt it was a waste of soul.

'Maybe you should take some rest from the rabbit. You are going to hunt for the red slime tomorrow. Let us take a break from a rabbit' said Sys.

"Should I try learning to cook. I have many rabbit meats in my storage. No shop wants rabbit meat anymore. I hunt too many of them," said Dean while he was looking at the list of items inside his storage.

'That is a good idea. Though the meat won't spoil inside the storage, having too many of them inside the storage is not a good sight' said Sys.

As Sys agreed with Dean suggestion, Dean searched the internet for some recipe and tried learning how to cook. After Dean finished searching for recipe, he went to bed.

Just like the blue slime situation, the appearance of the red slime again caused the internet to explode. Many theories came out as to why the slime suddenly mutate into a new species. The red slime dropped item, the red pillow also in huge demand the same as the blue pillow.

Dean also having another hard time hunting the red slime due to too many people hunting them. Dean took two days to collect enough red slime core and soul to upgrade the red slime.

At first, Dean did not want to upgrade the red slime to elite grade too fast but he felt bad for the slime because of over hunting. He decided to upgrade the red slime so they can protect themselves better.

Slime usually lived in a group. Having an elite grade among themselves will help the slime a lot. The elite grade slime seemed to be much smarter than other elite grade monsters as they proved to be able to use a bit of strategy when fighting their enemy.

Many humans looked down on the slime too much that they got killed by them.

After Dean finished collecting and upgrading the red slime, he continued hunting the rabbit. It took him another two days and he finally got the rabbit soul. Dean got teary eyed from all the hardship he went through.

Dean decided to hunt an easier monster after that. His next target were butterflies. Butterfly strength was not that much different than the normal slime. They were weak but they were beautiful. At the prairie, only plain color butterflies can be found. Each color usually flocks the bush of the same color flower plants. They will also respawn near the flower bush.

There were lots of them and they did not take a long time to respawn. Dean would not need to worry if they were too fast or too strong for him since the butterflies can easily be killed by anyone. Dean found a flower bush of blue flower and many blue butterflies can be seen flying there.

Dean smiled and happily went hunting the blue butterflies. Time flies and Dean decided to went back to his room. He got the blue butterflies' core and item but unfortunately no soul. It was understandable that he did not get any soul because the chance was low. The butterfly's drop item was a butterfly shape hair clip. It was just an ordinary item the same as the slime pillow.

Dean was cooking in his kitchen. He has been learning to cook the rabbit meat for the past few days. At first, it was a disaster but he was much better now. It was not delicious yet but it was eatable. He had a hard time learning to cook due to his background as an aristocrat.

'Dean, there is a message from the government's military office' Sys informed Dean.

"What does the message say?" asked Dean while he was cooking.

'You need to go to their office tomorrow. There is no reason written in the message' said Sys. Dean pondered a bit.

"Since it is from the military, we need to go," Dean continued cooking, eating his dinner and went to bed after surfing the internet.

Spring 15 – Month 1 – Year 2001

Dean prepared to go to the military office. He went into the teleporter and got back on Earth inside his room. Dean stealthily and quietly went out of his family home and took the bus to the military office. It took him about 3 hours to get there.

Although the name was military office, it was inside a military base. It was a big base since it was inside Earth capital city.

After the demon appearance, human banded together and formed the Earth Alliance or EA. Human worked together to fight the demon and all the races, religions barrier was broken and humans unite.

Dean went inside the office and told the receptionist. The receptionist asked him to wait. A few minutes later, the receptionist told Dean to follow him.

"Miss, why am I here?" asked Dean to the receptionist. The receptionist looked at Dean and smile but she did not say anything. They finally in front of someone's office. On the door plate, 'General' was written on it. "G-g-general? Why is a general want to see me?" Dean got really nervous.

The receptionist knocked on the door and got inside. Dean followed behind her. Inside, a bulky man sat in front of his desk doing his work. Dean looked at the man and he immediately recognize the man.

"Uncle Owen?" The general inside the office was actually Glitz Owen. He was Dean's uncle. He was popular and well known for his strength and contributions in EA.

"You are here. Sit. There is something I need to tell you." Owen gestured his hand ordering Dean to sit on the chair in front of his desk. Owen looked at Dean and Dean felt a powerful pressure from him. Dean immediately looked down.

"Starting today, you will enlist as a soldier here," said Owen out of nowhere. Dean was surprised with that and immediately looked at Owen.

"What do you mean, Uncle Owen? I am still underage to be enlist," said Dean.

"You won't be sent to the battlefield. You will train here until you are 18 and then you will be sent to the battlefield," said Owen. "You quit your school and not doing anything anyway. I know about the sudden appearance of new species of slime and you want to hunt it. You can hunt it in the evening and weekend after your daily training."

"Uncle, why so suddenly?" Dean was looking down while asking this question. He wanted to know what happened.

"It is the order of the Grandmaster," said Owen.

"Which Grandmaster?"

"Earth Alliance Grandmaster"
