Chapter 58

Adam friggin' freaked out and went all silent witnessing what just went down. Karl's hand that was holding him up dropped, and the dude straight-up collapsed to the ground, not moving an inch. For a moment, the vibe turned dead silent. Zoey, who just arrived, was gaping, not knowing what the heck to do.

"Who the heck are you?!" Zoey finally spoke up, her eyes full of confusion and fear. She glanced at the fallen Karl, then back at John with a bunch of question marks.

John gave her a cold stare, no hint of regret. "He's dangerous, and I ain't got time for a long explanation. You don't understand what he's really hiding."

Adam felt trapped in this situation, guilt creeping up on him. Despite Karl hitting the floor, he started doubting if this was really the right way to solve this mess. But, he knew there was no turning back.

"You... you don't have to knock him out," Adam said, low but firm. "We could ask him more questions, maybe he can explain it all."
