Play Pretend

When she returned to her room, Yang Ran opened her computer and started to do some research about the commander. She stared at the information for a long time, wondering if working with Qi Ming Wei is something she should do.

As she tapped her fingers on the desk, her computer dinged, snapping her out of her trance.

Yang Ran clicked on the email notification and found that Eric had forwarded her.

Her brow rose when she saw the information on the website. She stared at the post for a long time and could not help but laugh.

On the dark web, she could see that some people were still looking for her.

This type of posting appeared on the website the moment she returned to F Country. As time passed by, the amount of money that they had offered to her increased.

Fortunately, Yang Ran had Eric's protection while she was in F Country.

Not many knew of her relationship with Eric. Therefore, she was able to hide and avoid some trouble from coming her way.

Looking at the amount of money this person had offered made her wonder just why was that person so persistent to look for her.

Her instinct told her that it was related to the thing that her father was supposedly left for her.

But, she still could not figure out just what was the map that those people had talked about.

The phone on her desk rang.

Yang Ran looked away from her computer and answered the phone call. She did not have to look at the caller ID to know that the person who called was Eric.

After what had happened to her and her organization, Eric would always check on her.

"Eric."

"Have you seen the website?"

A faint smile curled on her lips. "I've seen it."

"What do you think?"

Yang Ran pretended to ponder this question for a while. "I think... If you bring me to this person, you might get a lot of money."

Eric chuckled. "Do you think I'm in desperate need of money?"

Yang Ran clicked her tongue. "You are right." With one business transaction, Eric could receive triple the money offered to catch her. Why would he hand her over to her enemy?

"Rachel, those men in L City have retreated. I think they have figured out that you won't be coming. This was why the amount of money they offered has increased."

"I'll be more careful," Yang Ran said. "As for now, I don't think that those people will be able to find out that I'm on this cruise."

Her thought went to that young commander.

Yang Ran still found it unbelievable that he was able to recognize her.

The two of them chatted for a while before they hang up.

In the morning, Yang Ran put on light make-up before she left her room and headed to the restaurant to have her breakfast.

Just as she had taken a bite at the toast, someone pulled the chair next to her and took a seat.

Yang Ran was not surprised to see that young commander beside her. She gave him a look and raised a brow. "Mister, aren't you supposed to be working?"

The corner of his lips turned up. Qi Ming Wei could not help wondering just how long will Yang Ran continued to pretend that they did not know each other.

"I am working." He glanced at the two teenagers who were sitting a few tables away.

Yang Ran followed his gaze and saw that the president's teenage sons were looking at them. The eldest son especially was staring at her with his lips parted.

"I'm babysitting."

Yang Ran leaned on her chair and turned to the commander. "Then, why are you here?"

"I gave you a night to think of my proposal," Qi Ming Wei said. "Miss Yang, what would be your answer?"

She tapped her finger on the table habitually. Yang Ran wondered if she should continue delaying her answer. In the end, she decided against it. "Very well."

There was a hint of surprise in Qi Ming Wei's expression. He had thought that he will have to continue to persuade her.

"I guess I can play pretend with you for a few days," Yang Ran said with s shrug. "Anyway, I'm bored."

Last night, she has been thinking about the commander's proposal for a long time.

She had to admit that she was interested. President Liang was on this cruise along with a few other figures. She tried to find out about them. However, other than President Liang, she knew nothing about the other guests.

Yang Ran had thought that she would be able to meet them after following Mr. Peng.

But, after what happened last night, she did not have time to meet with anyone or look around.

The light in her eyes lit up. Yang Ran leaned over and put her forefingers on the commander's chest. "But Mister, just remember that everything will be over once we get off this cruise."

Qi Ming Wei caught her finger and pushed her hand away from him. His eyes were warning her not to go overboard. After all, they were just pretending, weren't they?

"That's good." Qi Ming Wei leaned forward. Since this woman liked to pretend to be a seductress, he could also accompany her to play. After all, he still wanted to know what the president was going to do once he heard about his new interest.

In the eyes of President Liang's sons, the commander seemed to be kissing the woman.

The eldest son, Liang Si was already thinking of gossiping about this matter with his father.

"Coincidentally, there will be another party tonight. Miss Yang Ran, are you interested to go?"

Yang Ran had no longer denied her name each time that the commander would call her.

Anyway, she had a feeling that no matter how hard she tried to deny it, the commander would continue to call her by that name.

"Since I have agreed to play with you, of course, I have to accompany you to this party," Yang Ran flashed a seductive smile at the man.

"Then, I will pick you up in the evening," Qi Ming Wei said. "Miss Yang Ran, don't forget to put on a pretty dress. No. That's not right. In front of the President, I will call you Xiao Ran."

The smile on her face stiffened when she heard that name. "That is not my name."

Qi Ming Wei saw the change in her expression and chuckled. "There's no helping it. After all, I had introduced you to the President with this name and you did not seem to have any objection." A thought came to his mind and his brow shot up. "Otherwise, do you think that Ran Ran is more suitable?"

Her hair stood up. Yang Ran could feel her body shivering at the way the commander addressed her.
