Chp 3

*UGH* I groan as I raise up.

Might aswell put up my clothes now, so I don't gotta do it when we get back I say.

I grab my bag and open the front zipper and pull out my JBL speaker, quickly turning it on and connecting to it, I start to play some music.

[Drowning: by A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.]

When my music starts playing I throw my phone and speaker on the bed and start pulling out all my clothes.

About 5 minuets goes by when my music is interrupted by the sound of a message notification.

I look over at my phone on the bed, I walk to the bed and grab my phone.

/Message from: Oklahoma Coaching Staff./

[All new Arriving freshmen, meet at the locker room @location in 30 minutes.]

I look at the time and see that it is 4:30 PM.

"YO J!" I hear Evan yell from downstairs.

"What's up?" I yell back.

"Did you get the message?" he asks.

"Yeah, was looking at it now. It's about a 15-minute walk to the campus." I say.

"Do you wanna leave now since it will be our first time?" Evan asks.

"Might aswell, I say grabbing my phone and making my way downstairs making sure to close the door behind me.

"You get everything unpacked?"I ask Evan who looks exhausted.

"Not even close." he says opening the front door the moment he does a cold breeze hits me making me shiver.

"One sec." I say running upstairs to change into something warmer.

I throw on a white Nike hoodie and some black sweats.

I jog downstairs passing Evan at the door.

"Pussy." he says as I pass him.

I punched him in the gut making hunch over.

"Yep yep, my bad." he says holding one hand up in surrender while the other one is holding his stomach.

I hear him start to chuckle which makes me laugh aswell.

"Let's Go." I say walking off the porch.

...

On campus.

Walking to campus was different for lack of better terms.

"I've never seen so many girls that look alike," Evan said as we walked past a frat party that had a line of girls all blonde and all wearing Air Force ones.

"Right?" I say, side-glancing at the girls I mean some of them were attractive but I would rather have a 6 which I've never met anyone like, than have a 10 but is just the same old trash.

"There I think." Evan says pointing at the football field in the distance.

I see someone walking in front of us with the same bag we got this morning from Coach Roof.

"HEY" I shout picking up my pace a little bit.

"Hey!" I shout again this time getting his attention.

He turns around with a questioning look.

"What position?" I question, as I do he starts to get a confused look on his face.

"Huh?" he questions.

"Like in football." Evan says walking up next to me.

"Ohhhh, Wide receiver." he says with a smile.

"Jaydee Murray, Linebacker." I say extending my hand to dap him up which he quickly returns.

"Evan, Punter and Kicker." Evan says.

"Nic Anderson."

"Freshmen?" Nic Questions as we all start walking towards the stadium.

"Yep, you?" Evan asks.

"Yes, when did you guys get here? I arrived 3 days ago." Nic says.

"We actually got here not to long ago." I say.

...

As we walked I felt that the three of us were starting to become pretty close.

At the stadium.

"Im guessing it's this door." I say walking forward and trying to open the door but it doesn't move.

I look to my right and see the scanner.

"Fuck!" I exclaim.

"Whats up?" Nic Questions.

"Well you see num nuts forgot his barcode." Evan says placing his on the scanner and when he does I hear the door make a click noise.

"Oh, hahaha." Nic says busting out in laughter.

"Your gonna have to show us the way from here." I say looking at Nic, who just nods his head we already explained to him that we never visited Oklahoma before we committed.

As he leads us through the player facilities my heart starts to race so many different ways I can improve myself and consistently get better.

"Here we are." Nic says opening two double doors.

As he he opens the doors I see multiple other people who I already know are the other freshmen on the team.

Not even a second later coach Brent Venables walks in.

"Good you both made it." Coach says looking at Evan and I, then he redirects his attention to everyone else.

"I will keep this as short as possible."

"Ok first of all you need to all understand what you don't have to do." BV says looking at everyone.

"Alright you don't have to work hard, you don't have to eat right, you don't gotta sleep right, you don't have to watch extra film, you don't have to be a good teammate, you don't have to have to be a good leader.

You don't have to do anything you don't wanna do. But you also don't have to win, you also don't want success in life.

You don't have to help your team win, you don't have to play." BV says making everyone have a confused look.

"No one has to play you."

"So the greatest things in life take sacrifice and discipline and that's why so few people achieve great things, Because they don't wanna sacrifice they don't wanna be disciplined for something greater. So you see all these people that have great things in life that you look up to.

It's because they sacrificed and disciplined themselves long before they ever became "great" so don't get mad later when you created your own storm and then it starts raining on you." BV says.

"I recruited y'all because I know every single one of you has the talent and discipline to be great. So work to perfect your craft and never become complacent. Understood?" BV asks.

"Yes sir." we all respond.

"Alright everyone will get an upperclassman to show y'all the ropes and help you get used to everything. They will be here soon.

After that some team managers came in and started talking to all of us, getting information like our address and certain need such as allergies. After that was done they took our thumbprints and left saying by tmwr we should be in the system.

It wasn't maybe 10 minutes later that the doors opened again and a player I was actually familiar with came in.

"Billy!" I shout and he looks my way and smirks.
