I rested a day before I called the chief to tell him that I'm good already.
I just relaxed yesterday by playing piano which was in my office.
Today, I will do a progress report because the chief can't be bothered to do this trivial things so he left it to me, his assistant, while also to urge me to become an official researcher.
I will accept that offer today and become an official scientist now.
We are currently in the meeting room, consisting of three long rectangular tables arranged in a U pattern with office chairs.
There's also a big screen at the front that you can connect to any device like smart phones and laptops.
This thing is used for presentations which I will be doing.
There is a small square table in front of the big screen to place the said gadget and other stuff like drinking water, coffee or tea depending on what you like.
The progress report is for the robotics research department by the way.
All the other department heads are here and some other high level researcher too.
This is the main reason for Duke Ashford's visit too.
The door opens for Duke Ashford and the Chief.
"Alright, let's get this report started." the chief said while taking a seat, with Duke Ashford in the head seat of the long table with the chief just beside him.
The chief nodded at me which signaled my start of the report.
"Good morning ladies and gentleman, I will start by saying our long going project named Frames had a passable proto type.
This is how the proto type looks like." I said while manipulating my laptop connected to the big screen to show the picture of a robot with with measurements in detail.
"As you can see, the frame is square in shape for simplicity. It uses the landspinners to move, although it only has two limbs which is it's 'arms'.
Common materials such as steel can't handle the weight in a height more than a main battle tank's."
I said while reaching for my tea to have some sip because I feel like my throat is getting dry, then I continued.
"This is also the reason why we didn't make it with lower limbs. Tests showed that this is the optimum size without making the frame wider and thicker.
This is the first proto type so we chose to first make a functioning robot to analyse the feasibility of the project more accurately.
This thing can be ridden by a person preferably with 1.8 meters to 2 meters of height, because of the size of the cockpit.
The arms can only lift a tenth of it's own weight before the robot becomes out balanced.
We tested the arms separately from the body which resulted in it being able to lift the robots weight at the maximum.
Anymore than that and the joints, as well as the hydraulics will suffer damages. Continued usage under such condition will obviously cause irreparable damage." Then I manipulated my laptop again to show a video of said experiment.
"The main power source is petroleum for mechanical movements and a sub power source using a battery for the electronics.
The operation time can only last for 30 minutes with simple movements and lower when used to carry loads or in using the maximum performance.
It can't be used after for a few hours even when refueled and recharged because of over heating.
It will also need maintenance everytime after usage for the same reason as over heating.
We didn't get to put the factsphere for the problem of weight limits from the robotics structure and materials used.
The landspinners can't do sudden turns and short turns because of having no lower limbs which limits the landspinners movement angle.
The functional operations doable with this proto type is also limited by the software system used." I paused for a bit and then continued.
"The conclusion we got is that the project needed better materials and the robots structure needs better engineering.
The power source can only be solve if we research a better petrol fuel or managed to reduce the size of the sakuradite reactor.
The over heating problem can only be solved by using a better cooling device that also needed to be researched or we can just outsource.
The operation system needed better programming which can only be done after making a better mechanical structure for compatibility."
I took another sip of tea to moisten my dry throat and lips.
"That's the summary of the robotics department's progress report and this is the only project of our department.
As you can see, the feasibility of this project for combat use is still nill and waiting for further tests and calculations.
For more details, you can first read the files in front of you and then you can ask me questions for things you don't understand." I said looking at everyone.
The meeting continued with some of the people asking some questions like what material would be needed and other such things.
Today's report is mostly for the robotics department the meeting finished after settling the issues for this project.
The small details will be handled by the lower staffs.
The Duke and the chief invited me for a private talk in the Chief's office.
Duke Ashford doesn't have his own office here in the research institute. He mostly stays in Ashford foundation HQ which is quite close.
Most reports is also done in the HQ. This particular project is just an exception.
- Chief's office -
"You did good lad! Although I appreciate you for taking care of this menial things, I would much prefer it if you join the main research team to put more focus on advancing our projects.
I already know that you are a genius lad, you can't hide it from me." the chief said with eagerness.
"That's right, you should focus more on doing research than doing this corporate things. Let the secretaries and the department heads do those menial things.
It's a waste of your intelligence if you don't join the main research team." Duke Ashford said with a slight smile.
"Are you thinking about your colleagues? Don't worry! If I said you're good then you're good!
Those dumb people can't even keep up with a fifth of my intellect. I will just fire them if they make a fuss!" The chief added exaggeratedly with a touch of seriousness.
"Wait, you don't need to do that chief! Actually, I wanted to accept the offer now." I said acting a little flustered.
"Really?! That's great!" The chief said in surprise.
"Good! I am glad that you finally accepted." the Duke said with a relieved and pleasant expression.
