Chapter 1

A normal day as any other. A quiet train ride to his job. He seems unsettled by something. A simple man with a simple well paying desk job. But he's too observant for his own good..

"Koda, Wake up" he spaced off, thinking about what was so different.. "sorry sir.. did something happen recently?" It was too quiet in the main room of the office for his liking.. "Yes! I told you to take the day off. I know you had a friend working in that office. And for the love of god if you're not going to get a TV at least get a damn radio! Listen to or watch the news. Go home. I will call you when we need you." With that he left with a sigh and left the room quiet. He had no idea what his boss was on about, so he went to the main room to look at the big TV. It was on the news channel about joined companies. What no one knew were the dark secrets they had..

{NEWS}

"Hello this is Mayu reporting live from the testing site located near Ashton Lake. There was an explosion in a lower part of the building which caused an evacuation. A lot of the areas are unstable and anywhere by or below the explosion is not able to be accessed as it is too dangerous to make a move. Injured workers are still walking out, but many are still unaccounted for. i'll report back when the situation has changed."

With that it went back to the two that only ever talk nonsense. Koda looked horrified. His best friend, Lenard worked there. He never told Koda his schedule, but assured him it was fine. That all they did was test vaccines on animals to make sure they were safe, amongst other things like testing new chemicals for recipes. But Koda was never convinced that it was Just vaccines and chemicals for food. The two should never be tested in the same building. He quickly called Lenard, but got no answer, and left a message.

"Lenard, Call me back the moment you get this, if i find out you are hurt i'm pulling you out of there and bringing you here. we have our own testing areas for chemicals. This is my last comfortable straw with that building!" He never liked the boss there. Such a smug smile all the time. Too ok with everything, too calm for his liking.. Too laid back.. But something about him seemed to scare the employees.. Koda hated it. With a passion..

After a few hours his phone goes off and he immediately picks up. "Hello?"

"Hey, Koda, sorry I missed your call.. I was knocked out when you called. The blast caused the ceiling above me to crack. But don't worry, i'm fine. I'm in a hospital room right now. They're checking for anything that might hurt. Like Tetanus."

"Lenard a part of your office blew up! You should be worried about what comes after the hospital! No- Just- I'll be there soon, you just stay put. Ok?" With that he hung up, rushing over to the hospital, frantically looking around. As a man with no family to his name, he decided to look after the next best thing. A friend.

But he didn't realize how quickly that would all change..
