Claws Of The Alpha

"I, Zes Xander, reject you, Knox Everett, as my mate, the King of werewolves and Alpha of Silver Moon Pack." As those words left my mouth, tears fell all over my face. Knox looked shocked. To break a mate bond he should accept it. "I do not accept it," he replied with a blank, emotionless. But his eyes held a lot of emotions I couldn't do anything. I trusted him. I trusted him easily. I trusted him even after all I got from everyone I trusted was a betrayal. Why do I do the same mistake every time?

Disaster Wedding

"Will you have this woman to be your wife, to live together in holy marriage? Will you love her, comfort her, honor her, and keep her during sickness and during health, and forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?" I heard someone ask.

Confused I look around, I am standing in front of Knox dressed in a tux. The priest cleared his throat and asked again.

"Will you have this woman to be your wife, to live together in holy marriage? Will you love her, comfort her, honor, and keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?"

"I don't," replied Knox.

I looked at him in shock as hot tears were streaming down my face. He grinned with an evil glint in his eyes.

"You actually thought I loved you?" He chuckled darkly.

"I was only with you for your power," He gritted through his teeth.

I felt a searing pain in my stomach. I looked down to see the cause of the pain, a dagger. My beautiful white dress was now turning into a crimson blood stained dress. I chocked out a sob when Knox retracted the dagger and stabbing me again. I let out a scream before falling on to my knees.

I glanced at my friends who were all laughing and enjoying the sight of my pain. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Were they all really in for my power and not me as a person?

"BABE!" A voice called.

I searched for the source of the voice but when I found none I sighed defeated.

"ZES, BABY WAKE UP!" The voice called again. It sounded panicked.

As much as I want to follow the voice I am done with life. With a sad smile, I glance at my mate and my friends for the last time before closing my eyes.

"BABE!" A voice yelled. I felt myself shaking.

I gasp awake. Tears were streaming down my face. I start panting trying to catch my breath.

"Babe are you ok?" The same voice asked.

I looked at the owner of the voice. I gasped and jumped away from him.

"Y-you stay a-away from m-me...!" I stammered as I pointed at Knox.

I saw a hurt flash through his eyes. As much as I want to go to him I know this is all an act. He tried to reach me from the couch making me scoot further away from him.

I looked at my surroundings and found all my 'friends' frowning.

"You can stop putting up with the act, you guys are gonna kill me anyway," I scoffed making them frown even more.

"What are you talking about Zes?" Mae asked frowning.

"You guy can stop with the act you guys are gonna kill me anyway," I repeated and began sobbing, scooting away from them.

"What? No." Mae said confused.

"I am sorry guys, I want to trust you all but I can't," I sobbed and ran out of the house.

I walked around crying till my tear glands were worn out. I didn't notice that Raven followed me until she said 'hi' smiling slightly.

I looked away, ignoring her. But she kept following me until we reached a bench in the nearby park. I sat on the bench and continued sobbing. Raven silently sat next to me and said, "It's a beautiful night, isn't it?"

I looked at the stars and nodded in agreement. I could see many beautiful constellations. My eyes widened as I saw a shooting star fall.

"Quick, make a wish!" Raven said.

I closed my eyes and wished that my nightmare would never come true. My friends are too dear to me. I know that they won't betray me, but a small part of me is still unsure. They won't betray me, would they?

"Is this about your nightmare?" Raven carefully asked.

"Was it that obvious?" I asked, smiling slightly.

"Why else would you cry in your sleep?"

"Right," I said. "Knox killed me on my wedding day and all my friends did nothing to stop him."

"Oh..." Raven trailed off. "You're stupid."

"What?"

"Why would your friends kill you?" Raven started. "I mean, if they wanted to, they would have a long time ago since you live in the same house."

"You have a point, but--"

"No buts," Raven cut me off. "Go back in there and tell them about it, get it off your chest."

"O-okay!" I said as Raven pulled me off the bench.

I hesitantly agreed. We walked in comfortable silence until we reached my house. I stood in front of the door and hesitated. Raven nudged me giving me an encouraging smile. I took a deep breath and entered. I looked at my feet which were really interesting at the moment. I was embarrassed that I showed weakness, I was embarrassed that I was stupid so I didn't look up at anyone.

I was tackled into a hug by Mae. I sighed relieved and hugged her back.

"We were so worried," Mae mumbled as she pulled away.

I send a small smile at the worried glances I was receiving.

"Long story short, I had a dream," I paused, "A nightmare," I corrected and continued, "Knox killed me on wedding and you guys didn't stop him, you guys were enjoying my pain."

"What stupid dreams do you have?" Mae scoffed, while James and Reece looked like I have gone crazy.

"We would never do that," Charlotte reassured as she pulled me into a hug.

"I know," I muttered.

"Where is Knox?" I ask as I just noticed his absence.

"After you ran, he was so upset. So he's either in your room or his room," Reece replied.

"On that thought, why do you both have different rooms?" James asked.

I quickly ran upstairs and walked to my room as I heard someone pacing. The pacing stopped and Knox stood there unsure of what to do. I ran and tackled him into a hug.

"I am sorry, I am sorry," I kept chanting these three words over and over again.

"Do you want to talk about the nightmare?" He asked after we made ourselves comfortable.

"Do you want to know the whole thing or long story short?" I asked him.

"Tell me the entire thing," he said. "But first, let's lie down."

I nodded in agreement. Walking to the light switch, Knox switched off the lights while I made myself comfortable in bed. I glanced at Wiskey who slept comfortably in his bed.

Knox walked to me and tucked himself in bed. "Okay, I'm ready."

I chuckled and started, "I was standing in the wedding aisle in front of you. When the priest asked you the vows, you said 'I don't'" I paused as I felt him tense up beside me, I sighed and continued, "You mockingly asked me if I actually thought you loved me, and then you told me that you were only with me for my power. Right after that, you stabbed me, the others were there but instead of helping me, they laughed along with you. After that, I woke up and you know what happened," I finished with a sigh. I could feel my eyes water but I forced myself to hold it back.

"Hmm," Knox hummed. "I would never say no to you."

I turned to look at him. He smiled softly. "I would never hurt you, I love you."

At that moment, I couldn't hold back the tears that welled up in my eyes. I silently sobbed while Knox rubbed my back soothingly. "Go to sleep, mi amore."

I was slowly drifting off to a deep slumber, ready to welcome the next morning and the ball. I still had to rehearse my speech but I didn't care about it now. I just wanted to fall asleep in Knox's embrace.

Just when I was going to my beautiful dreamland, someone noisily barged into the room.

"OH, BY THE WAY, IT'S A MASQUERADE BALL!"

"WHAT?!"
