Chapter 50

Aaliyah

I looked around the house, my eyes falling on the portrait which was filled with dust. Seeing my mother's picture again was the most beautiful yet sad thing ever.

I touched the walls, wondering if they could speak to me. If they would bring back memories of my mother and the times she spent here. Coming across the shelf, I took out a big book, wiping the dust from it.

"These all belonged to my mother?" I asked.

"They are her grimoires, written by her before she died," he said. "Most of them were burned by your father after her death."

"What really happened to her?" I asked.

"Your mother… She used to be a strong, brilliant witch protecting this pack. But somewhere along the line, she grew obsessed with magic," he said.

I had heard that Aiden's mother used to be a very close friend of my mother.
