Aaliyah

The air shifted, as if we were in the ancestral realm. The five witches were all dressed in long black robes. Amara stared at the crowd, and from the sensation that passed through me, it seemed as though she had regained her magic after her death. I was angry, saddened, and hopeless again. If Amara and the witches were here, things could get pretty messed up.

"Amara," Tristan growled, releasing Vladimir's neck as he shifted into his human form.

Goosebumps prickled my skin from cold. The Elders had chosen the right day for the challenge. It was as if they knew there would be no snow today.

Vladimir also shifted into his human form, his eyes widening in disbelief. He hadn't expected to see Amara here. He had killed her. And yet, she was here at the worst possible moment, when his magic was suppressed.

"I didn't come here to watch a petty family fight," she said. "I came here to settle an old debt."
