She couldn't believe what she had agreed to agreed to do with Mr. Emerson but she felt it was her one-way access card to escape her horrible fate and also get back at her ex-boyfriend.
"Anna!" Rose stepped into her room after a short knock.
"Rose…" her voice was weak.
"I heard what happened to you but I couldn't find you in any of the hospitals. I was worried sick." Rose rambled with words and stopped.
"Are you okay?" Rose added with concern in her voice.
"I'm fine, babe. Something actually happened." She began.
"What's that?" Rose looked anxious as she sat on the bed.
"Somehow, I met with Mr. Mateo, Noah's boss." She spilled and Rose almost gasped.
"Unbelievable. I heard Mr. Emerson is not in town." Rose shook her head for a while before exhaling.
"So, what do you plan to do?" Rose raised an anxious brow.
"He promised to help me get back at Noah…" she couldn't also believe her own statement as Rose laughed.
"Help you? How?" Rose was confused as she stared at her friend.
"Rose, the thing is…. I will be in…" she stopped when she remembered Mateo's words.
Their contract relationship was going to be a secret from everyone.
Until he announced it, she must not tell anyone about it.
Oh, how could she have forgotten.
"You will be in what?" Rose nudged her when she noticed how she trailed off.
She wanted the full gist.
"I will be moving out tonight." She spilled.
"What? Why?" Rose panicked.
"I.. I can't stay without you, Anna. After what happened to you, I can't let you be by yourself." Rose disagreed seriously, looking away.
"I promise, I will be fine." She placed her palm on Rose's hand.
"I will get back at Noah and also leave a good life from now on, without trusting men." She said vividly, trying to assure Rose.
"And… and what about your debts? I can't afford to procrastinate with the companies, you've got to do something too." Rose lowered her face, with her palm supporting her head.
"As for that, it will be cleared tomorrow morning." She sounded so confident that Rose gave her a long look.
"Is there something you are not telling me?" Rose curled her lips and she shook her head.
"No. And if there's any, you will hear about it soon." She stood up from the bed.
"Where are you going?" Rose asked.
"Packing of course. I'm leaving tonight." She reminded her again.
"Oh, I'm going to miss you so much." Rose mumbled as she walked over to her and embraced her from the back.
"I will too babe." She caressed her arms on her neck.
"But staying in this area and this apartment only reminds me of the past. I have to leave here." She lied.
According to Mateo, she had to sign the contract with him and move in immediately. She was doing things ahead of time because she couldn't delay any longer.
"So, where will you be staying?" Rose asked, as she assisted her in packing.
"I will text you the address when I settle down." She said,
"So, Mr. Mateo, is he handsome in real life? I have only seen him on TVs." Rose frowned and she laughed.
"Yeah, he is and also he is the owner of the firm that called me some weeks ago. Things happen, you know." She smirked.
"You are one lucky star, Anna. I just hope you met that igniting light that would lead you to a brighter path soon." Rose smiled as she spoke heartily.
After waves of goodbyes, the driver took her to her location, M. E estate, and as she heard from the driver, the building from the beginning till the end was owned by Mr. Mateo.
The car stopped at the official penthouse that Mateo frequently used and she stepped down.
"Urghh!" Her hands clenched her luggage as she closed her eyes, exhaling heavily.
She was stepping into a new phase of life.
Automatically, the black bronze bars gate opened and she walked in.
The middle path was smooth and looked endless and by the side were flowers and trimmed green grasses.
Her eyes glinted in happiness as she admired the things she saw.
She was welcomed by the massive waterfall in the middle of the yard with the latest models of cars everywhere.
Then, a gigantic landscape building stood on the edge, looking extravagant and unique.
"Wow!" That was the only word that escaped from her mouth as she strolled into the building.
The hallway had dimmed red light and red carpet, on the side walls were some artistic frames until she arrived at the jaw-dropping living room.
"You are here." Mateo stood up and approached her, dropping the glass of wine on the table.
"Yeah…" she managed to say as she was still shocked at what she was seeing.
This man was damn Rich! Why was he willingly accepting this contract with her?
Or does he want something else?
"Let's get down to business." He instructed, turning away from her.
"Is… is this a penthouse?" She mumbled aloud as it was nothing like it.
This was a five star if not first star hotel. It was too massive and big for a mere penthouse.
"As long as you're cool with it, name it anything." He smirked as they strolled to the study room.
The cold smile on his face was able to tear her heart apart but she convinced herself that she was here for business.
"Look at the contract and tell me what you think." He pushed a document to her which she received and gave it a long look. As she read through the contract, she switched into different facial expressions which confused Mateo.
He was in-between getting worried that she wasn't cool with it or getting pissed that she wasn't finding his contract attractive.
Soon, she exhaled deeply.
"Fine. I'm up for it." She picked up the pen on the table. "Can I sign right now?" She has never been so desperate in her life like today and he nodded.
"Sure." He smirked.
She signed the contract and he did the same. After which they stood up and approached each other.
"I hope this contract between us will last, to us, it will be a contract relationship. But to the public, it will be an affectionate love story." He stretched out his hands which she shook.
"I also wish the same until our missions are accomplished." A small smile rested on her lips.
"I shall announce my relationship to the media tomorrow morning. Get ready." He said, tucking his hand into his trouser pocket as they strolled back to the living room.
