Rafaela frowned at Lief. She could tell that Brendan's brother was accessing screens full of data, even if it was all internal and she couldn't physically see any trace of them.

Despite the supposed importance of inherited memories, the two brothers could be oddly similar. They could also be quite different. Lief didn't quite flinch when he realized that she was watching him intently.

A completely irrelevant thought struck her. Despite the fact that he was a bit taller, and his coloration and features were more striking, he was less attractive than his brother.

Her gaze was more sympathetic than she realized as she asked, "Am I overworking you? You are filling in as the acting head of Eks Corp Security too aren't you?"

Lief blinked at her, as though dismissing screens before his focus sharpened. "I'm fine. When your schedule eases, so will mine."

Rafaela considered his reply, and then asked curiously, "Not when Brendan returns?"
