PC: Final Hours

Rafaela's hand fell on Brendan's shoulder heavily. He turned and looked into her face questioningly. She looked a bit tired, but fiercely determined.

"It is time to sleep," she informed him.

Brendan shook his head. "I'll be fine," he assured her.

"If you don't sleep for another week?" she asked lightly.

"I'll sleep after," he began.

"I'm ordering you to sleep now," she interrupted. "I know that you probably think you'll be fine cutting it a little short, but I've now had the opportunity to watch some of the memory logs that you carry. The King sent me copies of the first weeks of the previous three Kings' terms."

He stiffened and stared at the woman who would be his Queen in a few more hours. Even if she had been taking the usual Queen's role, she would have had the authority to give him such an order he realized with shock.
