Mendell looked around and familiarized himself with the room's layout. Even though the area was not his ideal venue for a fight against multiple enemies, he was still glad there was a lot of space for maneuverability. They only had two routes to escape - the door where Rebecca and Billy came from and the entrance behind them. But he detected several monsters were coming through both of these routes. "Spiders are coming. And they also brought new friends along with them."
Kenneth knew how sensitive Mendell's senses were so he believed him right away. Without hesitation, he approached Mendell, asking, "How numerous are they?"
"More than what we faced while we were trapped earlier," Mendell replied, secretly conjuring his customized spear while Rebecca and Billy were not looking. "Come on! We gotta - " He stopped talking when he saw a mutated spider rushing in through the door leading to the Training facility. "It's too late! Billy and Rebecca, deal with the monsters from your side. Kenneth and I will be fending off the monsters behind. And watch out for any incoming attacks from above!"
Billy nodded and readied his shotgun on his shoulder. As soon as the spider leaped toward them, he blasted it away with a single fire. Its body was torn apart.
"Way to go!" Rebecca cheered as she shot the spider that attempted to crawl up toward the ceiling. It screaked loudly and skittered to the left, avoiding some of her bullets. As soon as it reached the corner, it skittered to the ground and jumped forward. Nervous, she moved backward while shooting its eyes. She did not stop shooting until the spider dropped on the ground, dead.
A few seconds had just passed when another three spiders entered through the door simultaneously.
Billy aimed the muzzle at the spider which immediately attacked them, and destroyed it right away with a single shell.
Rebecca dealt with the other spider that crawled on the right wall, finishing it after five shots.
Billy was about to shoot the spider that climbed the ceiling but apparently stopped when he saw three more spiders coming their way. Enraged, he shot the newcomers instead, hitting the two spiders which jumped together. A single shell fended them off. Much to his dismay, three more spiders rushed through the door and went into different directions.
While Billy and Rebecca were busy, Kenneth and Mendell were also dealing with their own shares of spiders.
Kenneth had experienced in dealing with the spiders, so he knew exactly what to do. He aimed his muzzle and shot it's head decisively, not stopping until it dropped on the floor.
Since the entrance was wider than the door guarded by Rebecca and Billy, more spiders were able to pass through simultaneously. Six spiders skittered on different sides, their screaking sounds echoing inside the room.
Mendell aimed his Samurai Edge and fired his gun at the nearest spider. Even though he knew that using the shotgun would finish the job faster, he wanted to save the shotgun shells, only planning to use it against a Boss. After three shots, he killed his target. Three spiders were enraged and leaped toward them from different directions. He clicked his tongue as he shot the middle spider, destroying it in three shots. Without pausing, he grabbed one of the spider's legs, which jumped from the right wall, and threw it against the spider that came from the left side. Due to the strong collision, both of their bodies exploded, their blood splattering all over.
Kenneth sensed that some of the guts stained his vest after destroying a spider far away from them. "Thanks for the free shower, mate," he commented as he continued shooting until he killed the remaining spider.
Mendell could not help but chuckle when he heard his sarcastic remark. When he saw another set of six spiders coming in, he snorted, "These fuckers really wanna have a taste of us, huh? Do we really looked that appetizing?"
Kenneth snickered at his comment despite facing six spiders before him. "Maybe. I was popular back in college, you know?"
Rebecca heard what they were talking about and shook her head. She reloaded her gun and continued shooting.
Billy, on the other hand, smiled for the first time. From the time he returned from Africa until today, he only felt grief, anger, and helplessness. "Maybe it's not too bad joining this guy..." he whispered to himself.
Slowly, they trim the numbers of spiders using the same tactic all over again. Luckily, they were already familiar with the spiders' movement and attacking styles, making it easier for them to deal with any of their attempts.
Even though they were killing most of the spiders without any casualty on their side, Mendell knew that the worse has yet to come. The unfamiliar scents were getting closer, making him all the more urgent in destroying the spiders. When he sensed that they were coming, he shouted, "New types of monsters coming up!"
Kenneth's eyes did not move away from the entrance. He unconsciously stepped back when he saw the appearance of the new monster.
They were white monkeys. The differences between the normal ones and these monkeys were their significant increased in height and size, jagged fangs, and the rotten flesh sticking out of their skins.
Mendell shouted, "Eliminators! Everyone, stay away from me. I'm gonna go ham over these fuckers this time."
Kenneth nodded and stepped a few meters away from him while his gun still aimed at the nearest monkey.
Billy was puzzled by his reminder, yet he still followed his instruction and chose to stay beside the ruined panel box, where he previously hid from Mendell and Kenneth.
Rebecca opted to move closer to the crate boxes for cover.
Only a minute had passed when the Eliminators rushed inside. Luckily, they could not climb walls as readily as the spiders, so they only needed to watch the entrance.
Mendell frowned when he realized that most of the Eliminators were coming from the tram station. "Where did these bitches come from?"
Fifteen Eliminators. Three of them rushed to Kenneth while the twelve of them headed for Mendell. On the other hand, there were five Eliminators coming from the door that led to the Training Facility. An Eliminator jumped toward Rebecca's Direction while the other four attacked Billy.
Kenneth squinted his eyes when he saw three of them approaching him. Oddly, he did not panic. He was not sure when it started but he could now aim straight when facing monsters. Not wasting time anymore, he applied what he learned and shot its head several times. When an Eliminator was almost a few meters away from him, he leaped backward, only to find out that he hit the wall. He groaned when he felt the sudden rush of pain coming from his wounds, but he did not stop shooting until the Eliminator screamed its last goodbye before falling toppling on the ground. He entered a narrow path just behind the crates. The two Eliminators squeezed their bodies at the same time, trying to fit into the narrow path as they shrieked. When Kenneth noticed that they were stuck, he shot them nonstop. It was easy for him to aim at the vital parts because the Eliminators could hardly move. After several shots, he finally killed his targets.
Rebecca shivered when she saw how grotesque-looking the Eliminator was, but due to her training, she was able to press the trigger and shot her attacker on its head. Even then, the Eliminator reached her, pushing her on the ground. "Oof!" She grunted as her back hit against the floor. The Eliminator bounced back after pushing her, then leaped forward as it swung its right claw.
She was aware of the incoming danger and rolled over to the right, barely avoiding the Eliminator's attack. She adjusted her aim once again and shot it, luckily hitting its eyes. The Eliminator shrieked as it held its bleeding right eye. She took this opportunity to defeat the creature and shot the other eye. When both of its eyes were blind, she continued shooting its head until it fell on the floor, lifeless.
Billy, on the other hand, was very busy because there were four Eliminators heading his way. The three Eliminators jumped altogether while the other one was hopping forward on the ground. He pumped his shotgun and shot once, hitting the other two who were near to each other. He quickly dodged to the right, successfully evading the third Eliminator but the last one was able to push him away. His back hit against the wall and almost could not breathe because of the sudden impact. Unconsciously, he stepped forward, not knowing the other Eliminator was on its way.
It jumped forward and landed on Billy's back. He quickly used the handcuff on his wrist as a knuckle weapon and punched backward, hitting its face. When he saw that another Eliminator was rushing forward, he aimed the muzzle and shot it accurately, blasting a hole on its chest. He then turned around and knocked the last Eliminator with the shotgun butt, inserted the muzzle on its mouth while it was shrieking, and pushed the trigger. At once, its head exploded like a watermelon.
While these were happening, Mendell was also busy. Facing these Eliminators were not a joke, considering they were also BOW intended for warfare. Luckily, they stopped creating these monsters because of the drastic decline in their intelligence, or they would be facing a lot more. He did not hesitate to summon the shotgun this time because he needed to kill them as fast as he could or he would risk being overwhelmed.
Mendell shot the two Eliminators who were together like they were a couple, killing them at the same time. After hearing the loud gunshot, the six Eliminators jumped forward as they extended their hands. He pumped the forearm and shot again, this time downing another two Eliminators. Knowing that his four enemies were already near him, he summoned his customized spear and swung it like a bat, hitting the other two Eliminators. The other Eliminator successfully grabbed him on his shoulder and was about to bite him when he grabbed its neck with his free hand and tightened his grip. After breaking its neck, he threw it against the remaining Eliminator and followed it up with a thrust. The spear passed through its head but it was still alive. "Resistant motherfucker!"
The other four Eliminators did not remain idle. While Mendell was killing the other eight Eliminators, the rest of them climbed up the huge panel box situated on the leftmost part of the room. Unfortunately, these Eliminators accidentally pressed a knob that was located at the top of the panel, accidentally loosening up the screws and chains that were holding it. Slowly, the huge panel box began to topple, creating loud creaking sounds that echoed through the area. Without realizing that they did a good job, the remaining Eliminators jumped altogether toward Mendell, whose attention was caught by this sudden accident.
Everything happened in an instant. Mendell recalled his spear and raised his hands upward, stopping the huge panel box from falling or they might be crushed and became sandwiches, like what Barry Burton usually said. "Shit! What in the world is this made of? They're fucking heavy!"
"Mendell, watch out!" Billy warned as he witnessed how the four Eliminators wanted to attack Mendell. His quick reflexes allowed him to quickly adjust his shotgun and fired, successfully killing the two Eliminators.
Rebecca shot several times, killing another Eliminator.
Kenneth was still behind the crate, forcing his way out as he pushed the corpses that were blocking his way, unaware that Mendell was in danger.
Nothing could hinder the remaining Eliminator from harming Mendell. It finally grabbed his head and bit its right shoulder while he was busy pushing the huge panel box.
