Chapter 26: Breaking Free

I hurriedly got up and went to the kitchen telling them that I'm going to prepare dinner but honestly, I wanted to hide my blushing and embarrassed face.

I think they understood because as soon as I ran out of the living room, they roared with laughter.

My ears became red at the tips and I ran the rest of the way to the kitchen. After three glasses of water, I was able to put my embarrassment aside and started preparing dinner again.

I think I was too engrossed with it because I didn't feel anyone's presence entering the kitchen until they were behind me.

Goosebumps erupted and my body went rigid but I didn't let that scare me, turning around with my heart in my throat.

I suddenly yelped as the person was mere inches away from me, and after hearing me yell, the person yelled on reflex and we both stumbled back.

I put my hand on my chest to calm my wildly beating heart.
