Chapter 6

Derek's POV:

I sit on a chair and watch as Eclipse talks to her boss.

"Yeah... One week... ok see ya" she hangs up and sets her phone down before looking at me. "I've got a week before I go back. Get settled in, I'm going down to the basement. Don't follow me." Her eyes flash dangerously with the last words before she makes her way into the kitchen.

I hear a door close and her footsteps going down a set of stairs. Looking around with a sigh, I go upstairs and look through the first room. It was definitely her bedroom. Blue and white with scatters of black decorated the room elegantly. The bed was neatly made

I glanced into her wardrobe and almost chocked at the sight of all the black, white, and dark colors hanging in the closet. The clothes were stylish but dark none the less. Turning, I make my way to the other door and open it to reveal a stunning bathroom. The walls were lined in blue and there were two raised sinks. The shower was large and the tub was lined with stone.

I turn and go back downstairs. This time I took a good look at the Livingroom. It was a darker color with Windows on both sides. A fire place lined the one wall with the tv above it. Three couches sat in the middle of the room facing each other and a black and white table sat in between them.

The kitchen was down the hall, it was bright white and grey. There was a sliding glass door that led out to the backyard and a wooden table sat in front of it. The counters wrapped around to form an island in the middle.

The backyard was large and beautiful. It was decorated in flowers and trees surrounded the whole yard. It screamed nature and was extremely relaxing. Birds flew from treetop to treetop. Looking closer I notices that some of the birds were exotic and had leashes attached to their legs, the other end attached to a run that ran all over the yard.

Turning back inside, I go upstairs again and find the guest room. It was dark. Grey walls and bedding as well as wooden accents. The lights hung down from the ceiling, giving it a soft glow. The guest bathroom was a marble grey and white. The toilet was on the far side while the sinks were closer to the door. A shower was in the corner.

The final room down the hall was filled with terrariums with different animals, from snakes to lizards on one side and small furry animals like hamsters, ferrets, and guinea pigs on the other. I smile as I bend down and let one of the ferrets. The door bell ringing interrupts me before I could play with any of them.

Jogging downstairs, I open the door to find a grim man standing on the other side, Warfalcon.

"You must be Derek... where's Eclipse?" He asks as he steps inside.

"She ran downstairs after talking with you and told me not to come down." He freezes as I answer the question.

"Please tell me you're not serious." His eyes widen as he sees me shake my head. "Dammit!"

He runs out the room, leaving me to follow him in confusion as he slams the basement door open and stomps down the stairs. Arguing floats up the stairs as I slowly make my way down them. My mouth drops at the sight below me. The basement was set up to look like a lab with a walk in safe to the right.

"You're doing this again! I thought you had promised me you wouldn't do this!" Warfalcon screams at the woman sitting in the chair in front of him.

"I haven't done anything... I wasn't going to." She says quietly as she looks up at him.

"You better not." He seethes before stomping up the stairs towards me.

He roughly brushes by me and into the kitchen. Eclipse give me a look before gathering whatever she was working on and placing it in the safe. Then she turns and goes up the stairs, waiting for me to go back into the kitchen. I sit down at the table a crossed from Warfalcon while she gets a bottle of water out of the fridge and leans on the counter. Silence fills the room before Warfalcon speaks up.

"If you don't tell him then I will." He glares at her as she glares back before speaking again. "Fine... Eclipse isn't supposed to go down there alone. She used to inject herself with poisons and then take the antidote to create an immunity to them."

My mouth drops open as I look at her. "Why?"

She shrugs. "At first it was to find a way to stop a certain poison... and then it became an obsession to figure out other poisons."

"Why were you looking for a..."

She interrupts me, "that is something that i am not ready to speak about." She stands up and goes upstairs, the door slamming behind her as she walks into her bedroom.

I look at Warfalcon but he shakes his head. "I can't tell you... this is something she needs to get over herself."

I nod as I follow him to the door and shut it behind him. Eclipse's door is shut tight and she won't come to the door. With a sigh, I give up and go to the guest room. Laying down, I stare at the ceiling. What is she hiding that has her hurting so badly?
