Chimera Man

Humans and Predators are no different from one another. They kill, they hunt, they prey. Humans have always been the natural predators, slaughtering and domesticating animals to their will. What happens when the animals retaliate? An unknown strand of genetically modified DNA causes animals to expand and enlarge into terrifying horrible creatures that turn Humans, the apex predator, into the prey. Their strengths, a scientific wonder, are correlated to the fear of humanity. The more feared an animal, the stronger it becomes. What happens when a man becomes too feared?

"Congratulations, you're officially a part of the team now." Urahara smiles. "You'll be working first thing tomorrow, report to my office at 7."

"Woah, woah- wait!" Arima exclaims, everything moving too fast for him to digest. "What's the meaning of this?"

"I talked to the higher-ups," Urahara stands up. "They've kept their eye on you Arima. They think you're promising." He says, looking down at Arima through his pink-tinted glasses. "I think you're promising."

Arima looks back at the badge, his reflection looking back at him. "What if I mess up again?" He points the badge away from himself. "What if I fucked up one too many times?"

"You wouldn't believe the amount of time I've fucked up." Urahara starts making his way out of the room. "Believe me, kid, these guys you're working with? You should be the one scared of dying."

Arima looks up at Urahara. He ponders for a moment before realising, he's never seen him fight before. He's never revealed his powers or Chime before. He's certainly not a hybrid, the only thing weird are the birth defects he has for eyes which tints then purple.

Urahara looks at Arima gazing up at him. "You're wondering what my abilities are huh?"

Arima shakes his head as if waking up from a bad dream. "Wha-" He clicks his tongue and plays it off. "No..." He says as the words slowly escape from his mouth.

"You'll find out tomorrow on our first mission. We received news about a potential chimera spotting in Miyagi." Urahara smiles. "It's good to have you a part of the official team."

Arima stands up. "Thank you." He bows, showing his appreciation towards Urahara. However, as he bends his head down, he feels something heavy on his heart. Something incomplete. "Containment." He whispers to himself, reflecting on Lentor's words.

"I'll be taking my leave. Get a good night's rest, you'll be in for a bit of a surprise tomorrow." He closes the light switch, leaving Arima alone in his living room, his mattress laid out as the sun had finally set, revealing a bustling Tokyo.

Arima looks back at the badge and places it on the kitchen counter, facing outwards to the window.

Urahara makes his way out of the door he puts on his shoes, looking back once again at Arima. "Don't disappoint me, kid."

"I won't!" He salutes Urahara, his child-like innocence causing a small chuckle to erupt from Urahara.

"Goodnight." He walks out and closes the door behind him, locking the door with his pair of keys.

"You got to him first," Lentor says.

"Early bird catches the worm." Urahara sighs, pulling the key out of the door. "I know you were after him, that's why I acted early." He looks up and faces Lentor.

"Oh yeah?" His body was heavily disfigured as his entire right arm was missing. Covered in bandages, he was only recognizable by his long white hair. His mustache had been shaven cleanly off and his head covered in bandages.

"Why are you here?" Urahara places his hands into his leather jacket pockets, looking towards Lentor. "Are you going to fight me?" He points at Lentor's right arm.

"Low blow." Lentor lightly taps Urahara's foot with his leg, mimicking a kick. "I wouldn't want to fight a crippled." He tapped it once again, creating a metallic sound through the ripples of his pants.

"That's a lot from you." Urahara clenches his fist inside his pocket.

Lentor, still in his hospital gown, has his hand on his sword located on his hilt, now on the left side with his only remaining hand.

"Go back home old man, before they file a missing persons report." Urahara was the first one to turn his back. "People with dementia tend to get lost more easily." He starts walking off, leaving Lentor alone in the lavish hotel-like hallway.

As the night passes, Tokyo wakes up and slowly goes to sleep. The moon completes its cycle and the sun emerges, bringing upon a new day for some, a new dawn for few.

"Morning!" Arima walks through the main lobby of HQ, shooting finger guns at whoever pays any attention to him.

"Looking very dapper Mr Arima." The receptionist lady compliments him. "I'm afraid you're still on suspension."

"Uh, nuh uh I'm not." Arima points to his badge. "Check out this brand new spankin' baby. Courtesy of Urahara."

"Your license is still provoked." The receptionist lady sighs.

"He'll be fine under me." Urahara walks into the main lobby. "I'm Urahara, A1 Associate."

The receptionist lady sighs. "When will I ever get the respect I want?" She shakes her head in approval as she stamps Arima's license.

'LOCATION: CONTAINMENT SQUAD A'

"Hey, you heard there's some new kid on the block." A pair of red-tinted lips spoke, a straw between them. "He's pretty popular with the higher-ups." She squeezes a juice box with her sharp and glossy nails.

"No kid?" A male voice speaks up. He's loud yet cheery, the complete opposite of the female's composed yet abrasive demeanor.

"His name is Arima." As those words left her mouth, Arima and Urahara stood at the entrance of the door.

"Good morning Joorie and Sasorie, this is Arima!" Urahara stands at the doorway, proudly presenting Arima to the two of them.

Both of them were sat on a couch looking at Arima, skeptical of him. Joorie wore a white dress that was quite revealing, and a red top that accentuated her upper body. She had a long flowy orange her that was tied neatly in a bun with a pair of chopsticks through it. Sasorie, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. He wore full black, a black leather jacket, black long pants, and a black belt with metal decals all over it. He wore a black shirt with a band's logo on the front that resembled a skull with blood splatters in the foreground. On his head was a black beanie that pushed his hair downwards to the side.

"Arima, this is Joorie and Sasorie. Joorie and Sasorie, this is Arima." He introduces each other. "Joorie and Sasorie are both twin hybrids."

"Yo," Sasorie says, pointing two fingers upwards.

"What you lookin' at kiddo?" Joorie squeezed the juice packet in her hand even harder, nearly causing the bottom to explode outwards.

"Don't be so rude. We haven't had a newbie in months." Sasorie looks at Joorie. "I'm sick of looking at Galliard 24/7."

"Speak for yourself." Joorie shrugs, winking at her twin brother.

"You disgust me," Sasorie comments as he stands up. "Ease the shoulders buddy." He places his hand on Arima's shoulder. "You don't gotta be so worried, I've heard some things from the other poachers about you, you're a hybrid too huh?"

"That he is!" Urahara walks over to his main desk, pulling his chair out. "But it wouldn't be fun to just tell you guys, will it?"

"I hate this." Joorie crushes the juice packet and throws it across the room, landing in the trash directly. "Do we really have to do this?"

"If you don't I'm taking a 40% pay cut, these juice boxes don't pay for themselves," Urahara comments dryly.

"Fine." Joorie folds her hands. "Look at me kiddo." She says, continuing to look forward and avoiding eye contact with Arima. "Ground rules. One, never touch my juice boxes. Two, don't die. Three, don't ask who Galliard is. Four, don't touch my juice boxes, got it?" Only after she finishes her list he looks over to Arima.

"Yes, mam." Arima says 'mam' unconsciously, completely saying it out of instinct.

"The fuck you just called me?" Joorie jolts up and grabs Arima's collar.

"Woah calm down si-" Sasorie tries pushing Joorie away from Arima.

"I'll have you know I'm at the ripe young age of 23, it's the stress of having to deal with ugly guys like you giving me these wrinkles!" She crunched up her eyebrows, revealing one single fold on her forehead. She lets go of Arima's collar. "I'm going to punch your head in if you call me mam one more time." She gritted her teeth, her eyes bulging at the thought of being called old.

However, Arima seems completely unfazed by her threats. "Okay, mam."

Joorie, with the might of one thousand grannies, brings hell upon Arima's face by way of a meteor-sized fist that lands across his face. As her fist melts through Arima's face, Sasorie tries grabbing Joorie off of Arima as Urahara lunges from his desk. "I just reinstalled the floor!" He cries out as Arima's dense skull crushes the ceramic tiles, turning them into dust.

"You just killed the newbie!" Sasorie exclaims as he sees Arima's head cracked open on the floor, Joorie's fist right next to it.

"Serves him right." Joorie blows on her hand, small cuts and bruises on her knuckle.

"You old hag!" Sasorie shouts at Joorie.

"The fuck you call me? You want one next?" Joorie raises her fist to Sasorie.

"Will you please stop the sibling rivalry!" Arima exclaims. "I can feel my head twisting!" Arima's skull had fused back, his skin growing back instantaneously as he stood up. A small splatter of blood on his white shirt was all that remained as evidence of Joorie's punch, except for the blood and half-shattered ceramic tile on the floor.

"You're alive?" Sasorie looks at Arima. "You didn't die instantly!" He excitedly proclaims.

"Shit, the kids got some fight in 'em." Joorie snickers. "Maybe this newbie ain't so bad." She looks over at Urahara, giving a small sideways thumbs up of approval.

Urahara smiles and gives one back, nodding his head in acknowledgment. "Well now that you've all acclimated to one another, it's time we get to some business," Urahara says with his laptop laid out in front of him.

All three of them stop their bickering and look over to his desk. "In the Miyagi Prefecture, there's been countless sightings of a creature terrorizing the public, the likes of which resembling the famous Japanese yokai -- the Kitsune."
