Deacon eyed the darkness wearily and got into a defensive position. Four wolves ran out from the darkness and his hand blurred in an arc. Four throwing knives flew out and slammed into the eye of each wolf and they yelped as they fell to the ground.

Jacinta's face was painted in disbelief, "W-What?"

"You said you don't know me, didn't you," Deacon said as he finally drew his katanas, "My name is Deacon, and I'm a member of the Artemis faction. Remember it"

Deacon shot forward and slashed at Jacinta and she ducked down to avoid it. He kicked at her but had to stop short as a wolf jumped out of the darkness and slammed into his side. He stabbed the wolf through the back and had to duck under a swipe from another one.

Deacon rolled to the side and eyed his surroundings. There were now about ten wolves in the sewer. All C-class and basically pleading for a fight. He brought his katana up and charged.

The first tried to bite down on his sword, but the steel cleaved a path straight through the wolf's teeth and then through the rest of its body. He spun the sword around and cut off the neck of a wolf at his side before kicking a wolf under him and stabbing it through the head.

He could understand why she would be using wolves. They were one of the dumber daemons, only spurned forward by their pack mentality and the need for blood. These two things would be perfect for her to take control of.

But this lack of intelligence made them relatively weak.

Deacon tore through another wolf and then turned back, ready to strike at another one, but there weren't anymore. He rose a brow and turned to Jacinta. She had an odd expression of shock on her face.

"You," she said, "Just who are you?"

Deacon eyed the area around him, and Jacinta narrowed her eyed.

"Are you one of his?"

"Who?"

"That blasted principal! Are you one of his!?"

"Ah," Deacon didn't know how he felt about being called anything of Arie's. the man was a certified mad man as far as he was concerned. But if it was to throw her off, then he supposed he would have to take one for the team.

He rolled his sword around once, "Of course," Deacon replied with a condescending smirk, "So why don't you just surrender peacefully"

Jacinta clenched her fists, "I'll never give in to that man! Never!"

The entire sewer suddenly began to shake and Deacon looked up in shock to see a large spider falling from the ceiling. He rolled out of the way and swung his right arm around, severing the spider's head. Another one skittered over from the wall and jabbed out at him with its front leg, Deacon brought his sword up and deflected the leg.

More and more spiders showed up, and Deacon felt himself being overwhelmed by the sheer number. He reached into his shirt and pulled out a round disk. He threw it down ad a large plume of smoke covered the area he was standing.

He then dashed away as the spider's dog-piled on the spot he had been.

Jacinta, meanwhile, had her hand held up towards him. Deacon narrowed his eyes at the smirk on her face. What was she planning?

"You should always be careful of your environment, child of Artemis"

In the next moment, Deacon felt the sewer rumble. The ground under his feet shook and the water rippled in agitation. He looked up - into the darkness behind Jacinta - and his eyes widened astronomically

A pair of red eyes glared at him, followed by another, and then another, and another and another…

"If you think you can stop me, then try," Jacinta said, "But you'll have to stop my little pets first!"

SCREEECCCHHHHHH!!!!!

A large horde of daemon rats raced out from the darkness. They parted around Jacinta like the red sea and Deacon immediately lost sight of her within the sea of black.

He looked behind him and saw the horde of spiders coming out from the smoke, probably called in by the rat's screech. He gripped his swords tighter.

This… could be a problem.

A two-pronged attack in a narrow tunnel. He won't survive if he doesn't activate his technique. Deacon sighed. He thought he would be able to handle things here without too much trouble. Maybe he shouldn't have underestimated his opponent.

'But then again, she underestimated me first'

Deacon's sword began to glow green as Karma flowed out from his body and into them. His ability was not very fancy. Put simply, he could infuse any weapon with Karma and make them into something greater than they once were. This made the weapons sharper, made steel stronger, and gave him more accuracy than he could have ever hoped for.

But he could only do it for a limited amount of time. Once this time passes, the weapon he uses breaks due to the strain of Karma, and he is left without any protection.

'But for these things. Five minutes is more than enough.'

The rats charged at him and Deacon blurred into motion. One cut. Every single one that came closer only needed a single cut to be split in half. There was no space for unnecessary thought in Deacon's head. He weathered the literal army of daemons with nothing but his skill and two swords that would not break.

Jacinta couldn't see what was going on in the middle of the battle, but she had a large number of rats protecting her from all sides, so she should be fine. She couldn't believe just how much of her plans were ruined by that man. To think that she lued him in her e thinking he would be easy to get rid of. If she had known he was this skilled, she would have just kept sending him on a wild goose chase.

Deacon kicked another rat out of the way and slammed the hilt of his sword into the skull of a second one. A spider tried to come up from behind him but he dodged out of the way and allowed it to stab into the hide of a rat.

'Blind fucker,' Deacon thought as he drove his sword right through the belly of the spider.

Crack!

'Shit,' Deacon swore as his sword cracked. There wasn't much time left for it.

He turned in the direction the rats were coming from and began to carve a path straight towards Jacinta. The rats were ferocious and attacking mindlessly, but Deacon was tearing his way through them with ease. He ran through one of them and then vaulted over another one. There was a small gap in the rats from where he caught a glimpse of Jacinta with a worried expression on her face.

He threw his sword up and grabbed three throwing knives from his hoodie. He sent them flying towards Jacinta, but a rat interfered in its path and received the deadly blow.

Jacina smiled at Deacon but it died on her face when she saw Deacon jump into the air and kick his sword towards her at breakneck speed. The sword cleaved a path through the rats in the sewer and plunged into her shoulder.

"ARRRGGHHH!!!"

Jacinta fell back with a scream while grabbing onto her shoulder in pain. Her control over the daemons broke and they all ran towards Deacon with reckless abandon.

Deacon easily cut down most of the daemons, and once the rest of them realized they could not win, they made a run for it.

Deacon sighed and brought his sword down. He then turned and began walking towards Jacinta.

"Stay away!" she shouted, "Stay away from me!"

"That wasn't what you were saying five minutes ago," Deacon drawled, "Yure kinda giving me mixed messages here"

Jacinta tried to move back, but Deacon grabbed the sword in her shoulder and pulled it out.

"ARRRGH!!"

Jacinta rolled on her side and Deacon eyed the cracked blade for a second before throwing it behind him. He was done with it.

He brought his sword to Jacinta's chin and she glared up at him, "You're coming back with me to Olympus. Unless you want me to kill you right now"

Deacon was dead serious too. He was tired of her bullshit and he wouldn't even think twice about killing her if she didn't come peacefully.

Jacint growled at him, "I'd rather die than go back there"

Decon shrugged, "Oh well, you -"

BaDump!

Deacon stumbled forward in shock and grabbed onto the wall of the sewer. He blinked his eyes several times and took a deep breath before looking back at Jacinta.

"You know," Deacon said in an indifferent voice, "I don't think its part of my job to keep saving your ass like this, sister"

Jacinta blinked up at the man in shock before an expression of elation covered her face, "Phine?"

"Yes. Now tell me exactly what you're doing. Do you think this is a game?"

"I-I didn't do anything wrong! If not for this man interfering -"

"Then he would've killed you for breaking his law. Or did you think he wouldn't find out"

Jacinta looked away, "I-I just -"

"UGH!" Deacon stumbled again and held his hand up to his head, "This one isn't going down without a fight, is he? Must be strong"

"He is, Phine! Don't allow him out!"

Deacon's eyes squeezed tightly and then his sword hand rose.

"Phine? What are you doing?"

"I… I don't have full control," Deacon said, "Just give me a -"

SQUELCH!

Deacon plunged his sword straight into his stomach and his mouth opened in a silent scream. A white fog spewed from his mouth and then began forming a body, from combat shoes to a trouser and top, and then finally, a female body was completed.

Phine fell to her hands and knees while Deacons body fell to the floor.

'That man,' she thought while releasing ragged breaths, 'Did he just kill himself? Just to get me out? He could've killed me too if I was even a second slower.'

She stood up and quickly grabbed Jacinta by the shoulder and helped her to her feet.

"We have to go," Phine said.

Jacinta nodded her head while holding onto the wound on her shoulder, "That man," she grunted, "Is he dead?"

"I don't know, but I think so," Phine said as she and Jacinta began to stumble their way out of the sewer, "Let's just go,"

The two of them disappeared into the darkness, leaving Deacons body lying on the sewer floor.

A small rat scurried out from the side of the sewer and sniffed at the head of a dead Deamon. It recoiled in disgust and then moved towards Deacon.

"GASP!!!"

Deacon rose from the ground like a drowning man and the rat screeched and ran away in fear. He coughed and managed to lean his back against the wall of the sewer.

He touched the wound on his stomach and sighed. That was a lot of blood, wasn't it? He put his hand to his ear and turned on his comm.

"Arie. Arie, come in. I don't think I can make it back. Bottom sewers, track my location. And for the love of God, don't tell Ana."

[Deacon? What happened?]

"Ran into a problem," Deacon grunted, "I'll be incapacitated for a while to reserve strength. So just make sure… not to .. tell Ana"

[Alright. A team is moving towards you right now]

Deacon passed out and the comm turned off.
