Chapter 2 : Let's Play Chess

C1 City, Chesster's House

XX:XX in the Morning, Chesster woke up early at the morning to do his exercise and excited to do his job, which is to clean the house. While cleaning he saw their one and only picture with his father. He smiled and told himself "I'll make you the happiest father in the world.

In reality, His father is his only family. His father was an average height with bulky muscles. He loved his father more than anyone else beside his mother who died from illness after he was born. Chesster is willing to do everything just to make his father happy and proud of him.

He waited for his father to eat their breakfast. His father got home and he smiled to chesster. While eating their food, Chesster asked his father "Do you know how to play chess father?". His father answered "Just a little".

Chesster asked his father to teach him how to play chess. His father didn't answer to him and he look at him for a while. His father told himself " Is this coincidence or is this really my destiny?".

His father asked him "Why do you want to learn how to play chess?"

"Because I want to be the World Super Grand Duper Hyper Grandmaster in the world universe!!!" Chesster replied while smiling and giving a peace sign to his father.

His father suddenly laughs so loud that their neighbor shouted at them to stop making noise early at the morning. Chesster was dumbfounded that even his father laugh at him. He told to his father,

" All of you are laughing about my dream. You're the same like the others at the shop." His father replied "Because there is no such thing like that. The highest rank was only Local Master."

Chesster was disappointed to his father and said " Then I will be the first one to attain that title!". His father suddenly remember his younger days and replied to chesster "Haha, okay okay, you don't need to be serious, let's play chess then.". Chesster was excited and he was smiling to his father.

His father opened his cabinet and took out a white long bag and put it in the table. Chesster was looking at the white long bag and told himself "it's the same like the old man but different in color."

Chesster said to his father, "Father, you have the same long bag like the old man but different in color." His father asked "What is the color of his bag?", Chesster reminding the color of the old man's bag but he doesn't even remember at all and replied "I don't remember father.".

His father didn't ask any questions and started to get the chess mat in his bag and explained what is chess to chesster. Chesster's emerald eyes shined again and he keeps on listening to his father.

The Pawn. There are eight pawns on each player. located on the 2nd and 8 rank on the board. (a2-h2 and a7 - h7)It is the weakest but they can be strongest when they get promoted. Pawn can only move forward but can do sideway if it taking another piece. Pawn move only one square at a time except on its first move which it can move two squares as long as there are no obstruction.

The Knight. There are two knight each player, which are located between the rooks and bishop in the standard starting position(b1, g1 and b8, g8). also known as HORSE. The knight has a unique movement which he's the only one who can do it. It moves to a square that is two squares away horizontally and one square vertically, or two squares vertically and one square horizontally. The complete move therefore looks like the letter "L". It can jump over to every pieces.

The Bishop. There are two Bishops on each player, which located between the knight and queen/king(c1,f1 and c8, f8). It has no restriction wher to put as long as it is a diagonal movement.

The Rook. There are two rooks on each player, located on the side of the board (a1,h1,a8,h8). It can move horizontally and vertically.

The Queen. There is only one queen on each player, located at the d1 and d8 square on the board. It can move like a rook and bishop at the same time.

The King. The king's movement is limited compared to other chess pieces. It can move one square in any direction as long as there is no one checking on it.

Good to Know:

1. Local Master – Also known as "LM". I will be using the initial LM for the future chapters. In real life chess, there is no Local Master. I'll be using more names of titles to identify the other players in the story to easily follow them for the non-chess fanatics.

2. C1 - means Chess I. I'm using C1 so that it will be easy to remember.

3. Chess Board – a 64 squared checkered board (Black and White or sometimes Green and white).
