Their trip to Japan had been magical, but Kai and Sakura knew that they had to go back to their lives in the States. They returned home, and they settled back into their routines.
But something was different. Kai noticed that Sakura was distant and preoccupied. She was always on her phone, and she seemed to be avoiding him.
One evening, Kai confronted her. "What's going on, Sakura? You've been acting strange lately."
Sakura sighed, and she looked down at her hands. "I have to tell you something," she said, her voice shaking.
Kai's heart sank, and he braced himself for the worst. "What is it?"
"I've been offered a job in Japan," she said, looking up at him.
Kai was stunned. "What does that mean for us?"
Sakura looked at him, tears streaming down her face. "I don't know," she said. "I don't want to leave you, but this is an opportunity of a lifetime."
Kai felt like his world was falling apart. He didn't want to lose Sakura, but he didn't want to hold her back either. "What are we going to do?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Sakura took a deep breath, and she looked at Kai. "I don't know," she said. "But I know that I love you, and I don't want to lose you."
Kai took her in his arms, and they held each other tight. They knew that they had a difficult decision to make, but they promised to face it together.
