93 JANET VAN DYNE

As I sat in Phya-Vell's luxurious living room, my thoughts swirled like a cosmic tempest. The choices before me were too good to be true, each offering incredible powers and advantages. Yet, the 5% chance of awakening a Mythical Power felt like a gamble only a fool would take. My instincts told me to consider the more reliable options.

*Energy Absorption*

The idea of absorbing energy and using it as my own was undeniably tempting. It would provide me with a versatile ability, allowing me to harness various forms of energy for offense, defense, or even to bolster my physical abilities. I might be able to absorb any attack from anyone as long as it is energy-based. With my Symbiote and this...

Well, I will be nearly unstoppable. But the downside is, that if they realize my weakness, they will bombard me with high-tech weapons. I can survive that with Symbiote, but without energy, it will be a useless skill. In the long run, it will come in handy while facing cosmic threats, but the main problem is the Illuminati... I can't trust them and leave my back open.

Humm...  What if I absorb the energy of sunlight? Will I become like Sunspot? Anyway, as for the second one...

*Energy Reflection*

The thought of absolute immunity to energy-based attacks was intriguing. Absolute immunity to energy and turning my enemies' attacks back on them had its own appeal. But the main problem remains...

What if my enemies don't attack with energy?

As for the third one...

*Cosmic Being*

Truth be told, the thought of becoming a cosmic human was kinda enticing. What unique cosmic trait would I develop? The unknown factor made it both exciting and uncertain. Cosmic beings were known for their incredible powers, and this choice might unlock abilities beyond my wildest dreams.

I mean, look at the Fantastic Four and Captain Marvel... Their cosmic powers... Even that fucking Dr. Doom got his insane overpowered abilities from cosmic radiation. I too want one, as long as it doesn't turn me into a thing or some kind of freak...

I feel like a kid in a toy store scratching his head, trying to figure out which one to pick...

However, there is a big **but**...

I couldn't ignore the 5% chance of awakening a Mythical Power entirely, even though it seemed improbable. The allure of something extraordinary gnawed at the edges of my mind. But I had to be realistic. Relying on such slim odds in a situation as dire as the one we faced with the Silver Surfer and Galactus was a reckless move.

But... Man, I can't help it. It's like you are driving a racing car on a race track and you are not allowed to press that NOS button.

As I sat trying to figure out my choices, Phya-Vell emerged from the bathroom, her beauty accentuated by the glistening drops of water on her skin. She wore a robe that clung to her form, revealing just enough to stir the imagination. With her hair still damp and that enchanting smile on her face, she looked more radiant than ever.

She gracefully settled onto my lap, her arms encircling my neck. Her presence was intoxicating, making it difficult to focus on anything else. Her eyes bore into mine, and with a soft, sultry voice, she asked the question that had been lingering in the air.

"Brian, did the bonding work?" Her lips curved into a playful smile as she awaited my response, her closeness sending a shiver down my spine. "Because we have to move on to the next girl you will bond with."

"Well," I scratched my head while looking at the System's window, "Do you know someone with insane luck, someone lucky enough to cheat death?" I asked.

"Care to explain what's wrong?" She narrowed her eyes, "It did work, right?"

"Yeah, more than I thought," I replied, "But..." I explained to her the 5% chance to awaken a new power and that I would need some insane amount of luck to get it. So, if I were to bond with another girl with the power of luck, I might just be able to get it.

Phya-Vell listened intently as I explained the situation, her expression thoughtful. When I finished speaking, she let out a soft chuckle.

"Ah, I see where you're going with this. You're thinking about enhancing your odds by bonding with someone who possesses the power of luck. Well, you're in luck," she said with a mischievous grin, "I happen to know someone who fits that description."

Curiosity piqued, I leaned in closer, eager to hear more about this potential partner.

"Her name is Neena Thurman, but most people know her as Domino," Phya-Vell continued. "She's a mutant with the incredible ability to manipulate probability in her favor. In simple terms, luck is always on her side. She's a skilled mercenary and has been part of various superhero teams, like the X-Force. If anyone can help you beat those 5% odds, it's her."

Ah! Of course, there is Domino. How could I forget about her? Now, if she agrees to it, I will know if this trait copying works on someone else other than cosmic power.

The idea of bonding with someone like Domino, who could literally tip the scales of fate in our favor, was intriguing. It felt like a game-changer.

'Hey, System, can you put it on hold and copy another person's trait?' I asked in my mind.

[Yes, you can put the decision on hold and later copy another person's trait. Limit: 3 Trait selection can be put on hold.]

Great.

[Meanwhile, Illuminati's workshop.]

Gwen and Peggy entered the Illuminati's workshop, a place of technological wonders and scientific marvels. It was a realm where the boundaries of human invention were pushed to their limits, and sometimes beyond.

There, waiting for them, was Janet Van Dyne, the former superhero known as the Wasp. In her retirement, she became a supermodel and later a billionaire mogul fashion designer, using her brilliant mind for both science and style. She looked youthful and a beauty, considering her age.

"Miss Jane," Gwen greeted, "It's nice to see you again."

"Good to see you too, Gwen," She replied. "And Captain, it's been a while."

Peggy nodded in acknowledgment, "Likewise, Janet."

Janet wasted no time and led them deeper into the workshop, where tables were filled with high-tech gadgets, prototypes, and various scientific equipment. It was a technological wonderland.

"I've been working on some new upgrades for both of you," She explained as she gestured towards the gadgets on one of the tables.

"For you, Gwen, I've designed a set of web-shooters that are not only faster and more accurate but also have multiple settings for different situations. These are equipped with a neural interface that syncs with your thoughts, allowing you to shoot webs with greater precision and control."

She then took out a small box from her pocket, placed it on the table, and continued, "As for you Captain..." She used quantum particles to enlarge it.

She opened the box, revealing a stunning new shield. It had a sleek, modern design, a departure from the traditional circular shield Peggy was accustomed to.

"This is a vibranium-infused energy shield," Janet explained. "It's not only virtually indestructible, thanks to the vibranium, but it also has an energy-absorption matrix. It can absorb and store energy from attacks, which you can then release in a controlled burst or redirect it back at your enemies. Plus you can generate a 360 degree 50 meter shield around you."

Peggy examined the shield, impressed by its craftsmanship and capabilities. It felt balanced and responsive in her grip, "This feels lighter but balanced than the one I am using."

"And there's more," Janet added, as she took out two wristbands from the drawer, "There you go your usual wristbands to call your shields more efficiently, but just in case you need to use a shield and you can not call it back... I have added three extras in there. With a single thought, the quantum particles will activate, granting you a new shield embedded in there."

"You went all out," Peggy said satisfied while examining her new shield, "Thank you, Janet."

"Oh, come on Captain," She smiled, "You know how much I love tinkering with new techs. Besides, considering the situation, I hope to be of some help to my old friends. Oh, and before I forget..."

She walked over to the glass stands, covered in black clothes.

"Get ready to be blown," She pulled off the cover, revealing their new suits.
