Prologue: The Beginning Of The End

Song recommended: Saturn by Sleeping At Last

The world has never seemed to stop being at war with itself, constantly clashing and stealing from each other when they all depend on each other. Constantly waging war against each other to see who the victor would be. Unwary that the taste of victory is not always sweet because the lives lost leave a sting on matters of the heart.

Poking each other's backs to see who would be easily distracted and who had the power to overcome. Whispering puns and jokes about each other while secretly envying each other's possessions. Telling tales about how they survived and conquered yet failing to correct the mistakes that are still repetitive and prevalent to this day.

Yet with all their beliefs and prayers, their words conjure up spirits and souls that watch over them. Some have called them ghosts whilst others pray over them and call them different names. Names that keep good and bad parts, names that are like race, forever deciphering them as certain beings and that have a certain purpose.

Angels being good, demons, bad, and humans beings, alive. All with a certain purpose, all different yet all revolving around each other as the circle of life and death. Lovers in different beds, married to their destinies but frowned upon if one wishes to leave the matrimony.

A variety of beings filling the earth as differences clash but slowly find place in being outcasts. Angels ascertained for being innocent and being praised as ones who provide light to all who are finding their way. Demons being feared for their darkness and the wrath that they rage upon every living being. Yet the living biding their time by living life on their own terms, until death knocked on their doors, elapsing their time.

Never shy to enter and not take off its shoes, even though it walks on someone's exquisite mat. Lurking and sensing the worth of what belonged to it and the authority that was designated to it. Whether it took what it demanded, forcefully or gently - did not matter as its footsteps though heavy and grim, were swift and barely made a sound as if they were ants.

Life having no choice but to watch at the bedpost at how death enters and simply takes the soul of one she had given air for so long. Having to watch the light snuffed out and changed into object that would be collected and judged. Leaving her to give life to another in a second yet bearing in mind that another would be taken tomorrow.

She was not allowed to let them see forever because eternity did not belong to her or to death. Their purpose was one that was written before creation ceased to exist. Yet, when both life and death locked eyes with each other, death's eyes filled with gloom and life's eyes filled with hope. Staring into one another, they both pondered on how life would transpire if they merged their fates.

There was no better companion for each other but each other. Though they had no heartbeat, they continued to see each other at every beat. Accompanying each other as well as being able to know the thuds of the other. Yet when their auras merged, the world began to twist and crumble. Their union would mean the birth ruin.

Leaving no hope for life and death to find comfort in each other's arms any longer but not realizing that in one of those nights where they had damned the world, they had produced the heir to something that either of them could produce by themselves. Yet they both had to sacrifice that very being and continue with their purpose, leaving the very being with both the power to destroy or protect heaven and hell in the hands of one who was meant to protect the living.

Trusting that in the care of this very being, there would be some peace and it would find some closure. Not realizing that one day, both heaven and hell would come looking for him. Both with their own desires that would do more harm than good, as greed always took the pleasure of being the antagonist in this narrative.

Yet this was the story of the beginning of the end.

I know it's way late for me to be joining this contest but hey better late than never right? I am so excited to be going on this rollercoaster with you and I trust that you will leave a comment. Like. Share. Vote and get this to the finish line!

Please note, there will be a reference or cross-overs of some characters from my previous work. Mainly Her Minds Instinct which was completed a month ago.

Also please note: I don't own this current book cover. I did edit it and combine it with other work and stuff but other than that. Nope.

Again thank you so much and let's go.
