MAIDEN TOWN CITY (1)

One week later.

CITY BLUE Y.

[Easton Residence]

"Where are your thoughts, my dear...since your return you have been daydreaming. Is something the matter, May?" Grandma Easton left the conversation between the adults and enquired from her granddaughter who has been absent-minded throughout as concern clad her face. May looked at her grandma and sighed dejectedly. The woman would be seventy-one the next day and yet, she was ruining the moments.

May amiably shook her head, so as not to become a mood spoiler, and besides, she didn't dare to tell her grandma what was going on in her mind. It was obvious the old woman would freak out. She refrained from expressing her dismay. However, Grandma Easton appeared to be concerned.

"Is this about Xavier?" She guessed after the conversation with her son.

May stilled on her spot and exhaled deeply. She bit the insides of her cheeks and beads of sweat covered her forehead. She dropped her head to her fidgeting fingers. Before she gave a response, Grandma Easton already read her body language.

"It is about Xavier, right?" Grandma Easton asked to confirm her suspicion. May was scared. Scared that her feelings for Xavier would be called unprecedented by her Grandmother. The old woman was someone she looked up to since she was brought up. She'd furthermore try to be alike with her, that her father and grandfather got tired of her bubbly behavior.

Verifying her suspicion, Grandma Easton smiled lightly and placed her wrinkled hand on top of May's as if to reassure her of that feeling. May was stunned by that soft gesture and the tears she had been holding in, started flowing down. Afraid the others in the living room might catch her, she immediately wiped the tears and sighed.

"I know how it feels and the responsibilities that follow. But child, always have patience. I know the frustration gets to you and all, but Xavier isn't faulty too. If you desperately want to leave, you can...if you can convince him too, I'll bless your relationship. Forget your father's retort and think of your future"

"But Grandma I can't possibly leave when a celebration will occur tomorrow. It would be your birthday and it'd be rude to not attend" May whispered with a cracked voice.

Grandma Easton chuckled and pinched the young woman's cheek "Sometimes humans have to be selfish. You can do it similarly. Remember we only live once. I don't ever want to see the look of regret on your face. Before Emily died, she handed me this huge responsibility to look after her daughter and I must by all means make you happy. If it is about Drake, forget it, I'll try to convince him. You and Xavier aren't siblings"

May whimper childishly and embraced her grandma "I love you so much"

The others in the room felt the affection between the granddaughter and grandmother. They quelled their conversation.

"Darling, are you playing bias now?" Grandpa Easton spoke. May tightened her embrace and nodded "Yes, grandpa"

"That's not fair!! I thought I am your favorite" The Old man grumbled as he became envious of his wife.

"Father, are you jealous of mother?" Drake found a perfect weapon to tease his father. He found it comical how this man beside him would visibly act like a child in just a second. If there was one person on this earth he feared, that would be his father. He was also the one that turned him into the businessman he is now.

Somewhere in the city.

A man is caught sight of inside the apartment of one of the most expensive and glorious skyscrapers in the world. He had his eyes shut like he was meditating. On the chair, adjacent to the window, sat another man, copying files.

"Mr. Dargan, the work is completed" The man on the chair spoke up, with his head also held up.

"If you can finish that in two hours, why is it hard to find that woman?" asked the man still meditating.

Mr. Darkwood parted his lips speechlessly. For the past few days, this man always asked such question, and he radiated out the same reply "I haven't met this woman before"

"Bullshit!! I told you of her scent... Rose mixed with caramel honey" That man howled in displeasure. His forehead wrinkled when he frowned, and his lips twitched.

"Her scent doesn't give a clue. There are lots of women in the world. Is it possible to find her with a smell?" Mr. Darkwood tried to briefly explain and let that incident off.

"Then, why are you, my assistant? To slack off on your work? Do you see the bandage wrapped around my head? This proves that we must catch that woman. Who in their right mind enters a male washroom?"

"Boss, that incident was a week ago, can you just forget...?"

The temperature inside the room suddenly accelerated and the aura draped from that man was intensely cruel and dangerous. Feeling restless, Mr. Darkwood reminded "We still have a flight to catch in the afternoon"

"Are you saying I am out of my mind for searching around for that woman?" The man rasped. Dumbfounded, Mr. Darkwood scratched the back of his head and smiled nervously "I never spoke of such disrespect unto you, Mr. Dargan. What I am trying to say is that it is impossible to find that woman and please forget that incident. You got treated, and that woman acted on defense"

"Defence!! I am lying?"

"Of course not, I wouldn't dare say that" Mr. Darkwood felt a thumbing headache coming. He knitted the space between his temple.

"I'll give you another week to find that woman, otherwise...."

Mr. Darkwood frowned and thought "Do I have to sniff the body of every woman in every corner of the world just for someone who isn't at fault? Can you be reasonable, Mr. Dargan?"
