Charming Beauties

A happy future awaits every child who has been born into the world. However, that could not be said for Rodrick Leinart, a man who was less fortunate enough to live the early years of his childhood with a happy and complete family...only for it to end up in a tragedy: behold, his ruined family. Dealing throughout life after the outcome of his father's infidelity, he vowed to become a man who his mother could be proud of. ...but when he chooses to play the most popular game of his time, a VRPG harem-based game with the potential to help him financially, he is torn between two choices: play the game and earn money, or honor the promise he made to his mother. So? What does he do? He plays the game in the opposite way as advertised! "Harem? What harem? I only choose to have one wife!" ▪︎ ・・・ ▪︎ TRIGGERS ▪︎ ・・・ ▪︎ 1.) First-Person Writing (I know, but it is what it is...I promise it will be enjoyable though. The story will start first and foremost with plentiful observations though, so if that's a red flag, don't read it hahaha.) 2.) Slow Burn Romance (Just because it's nice to see romance bloom slowly...from nothing. And also because it's underrated.) ▪︎ ・・・ ▪︎ AUTHOR'S NOTE ▪︎ ・・・ ▪︎ But seriously, who knows? You might enjoy the story despite these triggers. Just give it a shot, maybe the first 30 chapters? :

Traversing through an empty cavern...a strong yet skillfull spearwoman finds herself fighting against the monstrosities of the cavern.

Monstrosities which didn't faze her to the slightest.

It was quite a journey for her to move from Catelia to Underwyn...but here she finally is, fighting monotonously in a dungeon.

...a dungeon that was supposed to be one of the hardest challenges to most players in the game.

Yet...it was all conquered by a single woman. And she's not even a legendary at that!

...well, if we do consider her skill-set, she could be considered as a pseodu-legendary.

This woman was none other than Alvana, who was recently shunned from Mount Lianthan in order for her to reach enlightenment and make use of isolation training.

She didn't like the thought of going so far away for a month when she was issued the punishment by her master...but she felt that it was well-deserved. She committed a crime against not only her disciple, but also her master's bethroted.

She overestimated his abilities, and could have led him to death's door.

The price to pay would have been crucial had he been a mortal like them.

But he was somewhat of a deity and could respawn infinitely...yet the gravity of her sin did not change one bit.

So now, under the shade of the moonlight and the gust of cold air in the tavern...Alvana set up a simple camp in the deepest part of the tavern. It was a camp made by any available flora in the tavern...which was mostly just huge and thick leaves and thin wood that were scattered throughout every part of the cave.

Currently, she was preparing her sleep andusing a makeshift blanket made of animal hide to prepare for the night.

"Will my disciple make it out well?" She asks herself, the thoughts rummaging in her head all concern for her disciple. Normally, she would have enjoyed this type of isolation training that forced her to fight...but the thought of a suicidal disciple on the loosed irked her.

It was a rather daunting thought for her...given what she just saw in the town square earlier.

He would only lead to a path of self-ruination if he continued to harbor negative and harmful thoughts.

Filled with concern and unsure of what may happen for the future, Alvana sits back up and rests her back on the cold stone wall.

...she starts to close her eyes, believing that this was a less vulnerable position for her.

And indeed it was.

The fact that her ears were closer to the walls made it easy for her to hear any sort of sounds that erupted from the distance.

"And here I thought I cleared all of them already," She asks herself opening her eyes widely. She then immediately grabbed her spear and assumed an attacking position as soon as she went out.

...and soon, she sees a deer.

A deer with flowery ornaments on its horns and glowing ruin writing on their body. This was a rare type of mob that would attract many predators due to its potent mana capacity...as well as its weak nature.

Alvana licked her lips, knowing what would happen next.

She then threw her spear to the direction behind the deer...which resulted in a loud screech from the creature lurking in the darkness.

The deer run away, escaping from the fight with its frail limbs as Alvana cast a fireball spell to temporarily lighten up the cavern.

She could make out the figure of the creature...a gigantic snake with a pierced and bleeding eye.

This was a snake that conquered majority of the players in 'Charming Beauties' as part of the 3-final bosses that the player must fight simultaneously in the Cavern of Frost...

But to Alvana? It was more of discipline type of practice for her.

To focus on enhancing her spearmanship skills...and to not be too reliant on her magical capabilities.

She breathes in a whiff of air, jumping to the body of the snake as she blocked the vicious tail slap to her direction.

The snake wiggles its body as an attempt to get her away from it...but she was relentless in gripping through its scales with vigor.

She didn't let go.

But the snake didn't want to give in.

The snake hits its body to the cave...echoing and alarming the other creatures as Alvana dealt with a momentary headache.

And suddenly, the whole room was preyed with eyes from all directions.

Yet it didn't faze Alvana one bit.

It only made her smile.

She finally had some fun in this cavern!

I woke up to the sound of loud croaks from the frogs near the swamp...which is great. Just great.

This can only mean one thing...that frogs are in meeting season again.

And that I'm going to have a hard time sleeping for a whole month.

I mean...waking up at 4 am in the morning seems like a great way to start my day. But oh well, I might as well wake up and do things instead of go back to sleep.

Sleep doesn't catch up...and I should just deal with my day.

Of course, for now, even if I am skeptical about the true identity of that 'Shun' guy...I might as focus on getting more info about the game to actually start earning money in it.

...so I go to my computer and check the top-trending news in there. Naturally, the scene of "me" and Alvana fighting in the town square already hit one of the most trending discussions.

MiaowMio: okay but that ass shot though 😍

KrillLover: WHAT?! Doesn't she use the spear though? Why tf does she also know magic?!

KoolPopo@17: Krill has a point. I've been personally executed by her and it's swiftly brutal! How come she's taking her time in this one?! Is it favoritism?!

KlintReese replied to KoolPopo@17: Lol, how did you even get executed by her...

KoolPopo@17 replied to KlintReese: Attempted a titty grab.

Plientso@#2: The talent of women are so amazing...very pretty...very love...

[✅️]FalseFealty: This could mean a LOT for PVE and PVP-based content. It opens up a lot of doors for limited-wives per stage type of fights. It seems like dual-type wives with great proficiency in their skills are now my new priority.

Quintilawn: Woah- Even False commented in this post!

[OP]FlickerNinja replied to FalseFealty: False! Thanks for recognizing my content!

I only sigh in silence as I read through the replies...it looks like noone really understand the whole context of the situation.

Noone knew who I was and what I am to Alvana.

But it also means that my fighting still need more progression...I need to faster, quicker, and stronger.

So then, let's look at--

Wait what the f*ck?!

Why is my computer lagg-

Oh.

Nevermind. It was just the screen refreshing...how weird.

And now? I'm back at the title screen and-

WHAT THE F*CK?! THERE'S A NEW UPDATE?! AT 4 AM?!

Hello everyone...sorry for posting the new chapter late...I got a very nauseating headache that caused excruciating pain to the point I couldn't move and had to rest in bed to get rid of shivers and faintness feeling.

~~~
I'm feeling better now despite my painful stomach and have accompanied my grandmother to the grocery, so there's that...but overall, I think I'll just post today's chapter later in the morning...I'm going to be reviewing and revising the other chapters that have not been edited.
~~~

And I will also continue to rest and focus on stockpiling chapters so that I can post some in case of emergency...thanks so much for your support readers!
