Caroline In Trouble

"Mikaelson?" Caroline took a step back, "As in any relation to Klaus Mikaelson?"

She asked.

"His brother."

"Oh, I didn't know Klaus had a brother." She remarked.

"He has three actually." Elijah told her, "Finn, Kol, and me!"

"Oh…" She smiled. "Do you want to come in?"

She asked. "But Klaus isn't here. I mean, I saw him last night. But I haven't seen him since."

"Oh, I know!" Elijah told her, "It's not Niklaus I have come to see."

"Okay…." Caroline didn't know what else to say.

"I have come to see you, Caroline Forbes." She hadn't expected that.

"Do you want to come in?" She asked again.

"Of course, " he told her, she got out of the way, and he entered the house, "A lovely home you have, Caroline."

"Thank you." She said with uncertainty, as she followed him. He was so formal, almost the opposite of Klaus.

And, Caroline, it's not safe to just allow vampires in your home."

She turned the lights back on, and turned off the television.

"Oh….This was my mother's place, and when she died. The deed came to my name." She explained, "So, it doesn't matter who or I don't invite inside. I am a vampire!"

She shrugged. He nodded understandingly. They were quiet for a few seconds. She didn't know what to say, since he was the one who had come to see her.

"I wanted to see the woman who had so much control over Niklaus." Elijah told her, "And I think you are more than I could have imagined."

She smiled.

"If I may, can I invite you to New Orleans, sometime?" He asked, "I know your wolf bloodline comes from Labanoir. Same as Hayley."

She looked shocked,

"How do you know?" She said, "I mean, no one knows about...Hayley Marshall?" She stopped, "The wolf? How do you know her?"

"Niklaus mentioned that you became an unsired hybrid, at first I thought it was his curiosity and obsession about hybrids. But, it wasn't."

He sat down in her mother's armchair.

"It was that enthusiasm, he talked about you, as a person…."

She sat down too.

"I met Hayley when she came to New Orleans a few months ago, to find her family." He told her, "Same as you have. She found a scripture with your family bloodline when she heard about you from Niklaus."

He told her. She smiled.

"Wolf bloodline….." She looked at her freshly manicured nails. "I don't know, Elijah….My mother wasn't one. I know for sure…..She was the sheriff."

She told him, and he listened carefully.

"If my father kept me from the wolf side, maybe he wouldn't want me to see it."

"Or maybe, he didn't know." Elijah got up. "Maybe he never knew, because he never turned."

She nodded softly. She would have known if her father was a wolf. She nodded at him again.

"So, Can I invite you to come to New Orleans," He repeated, "I really want to meet Hayley, Klaus will take you, but only if you ask him."

"Why?"

"Because, he is delusional." Elijah sat down again. "He thinks if you come to New Orleans, you would hate him."

"Why?" Caroline looked at him. "Why would I hate to see his family, you guys….Hayley?"

"I don't know…." Elijah scratched his face. "I think he thinks if you find your wolf family line, he will lose you!"

"But that's insane!" She cried.

"No…" He looked at her, "That's Klaus."

She nodded,

"I would love to see New Orleans, Elijah….And perhaps, someday, I can convince Klaus to take me."

Elijah Mikaelson smiled at her,

"I'll see you again sometime, Caroline." He got up, and headed for the door.

"That'd be great!" She smiled.

She closed the door behind him, and fell on the couch. She and Klaus had spent several weeks together now, but never once he had mentioned his siblings. Not even Elijah.

She fell asleep on the couch. Holding the phone, hoping Klaus would call.

He did, and she didn't pick up because she was asleep.

"Caroline!" She was walking out of her house, ready for work, when Klaus appeared at the end of the street.

"Oh...Hi, Klaus!" She jumped, "It's you…"

"You didn't pick up the phone…." He said, "So, I thought I'll see you before work."

She smiled.

"I was talking to Bonnie, and then…..I fell asleep!" She explained. "And your brother stopped by."

"My brother?" He had his eyebrows raised.

"Elijah!" Caroline told him, "He came by the house…."

"Your house?" He jumped.

"Yes….Why is that so surprising, Klaus?" She asked him.

"It's not...I mean he didn't mention that he was going to visit." Klaus told her, "What….Uh, What did he say?"

He asked, Caroline thought he was acting a little strange.

"Nothing really!" Caroline told him, "He just said he wanted to see the woman Neeklaus was seeing."

Caroline mimicked Elijah.

"Nice impression!" Klaus smiled, "Elijah does talk like this!"

"It was nothing serious!" She told Klaus, and continued to walk, Klaus started to walk with her.

"So, I'll see you tonight." Klaus said as Caroline hailed a cab.

"I get off a six, so seven!" Caroline looked at her phone. "Bye…."

She closed the door.

"Bye..!" Klaus smiled.

He stood there, and waved to the cab that disappeared at the end of the road. He took out a small box from his pocket.

He opened it, and looked at the ring.

"Let's see what you'll say when you see this, Love!" He said to himself, and smiled.

He closed the box, and stuffed it in his pocket, and disappeared.

Caroline Forbes looked for a cab, she hailed a hand to a cab, it stopped. She got in. Her broadcasting office was in the city, a few miles out of Mystic Falls.

"Mystic Falls," Caroline got in the cab, and told the driver.

"Mystic Falls, uh?" He repeated.

"Yes…." Caroline nodded.

He turned back, and looked at Caroline.

"You are not going there!" He smirked.

"What?" Caroline was confused, and the man shot her several times.

"Aaahh!!" She screamed and groaned. She looked at her abdomen, blood spluttered out.

'Wooden bullets.' She thought.

"Uh-oh!" He shot her in the head, and Caroline was unconscious.

The cab driver started to move ahead, and an unconscious, bloodied up Caroline Forbes in the back.
