"WHAT!" said Charlotte bewildered at the cruel action of Adam's step mother towards Adam "What just happened? I don't think this woman is Adam's mother. It can't never be his mother. what a cruel woman speaking to his son like that." thought Charlotte inwardly and she peeped again and saw Adam sobbing quietly "What! Adam is crying!" shocked Charlotte and she felt pity for him "Now I know why he has been studying hard to pass his papers it because of this wicked woman." thought Charlotte inwardly and she felt remorseful and left the place to her classroom.

After a while Adam entered the classroom and the teacher was already in the class teaching the students.

"Adam why are you just entering the class?" asked the science teacher

"I have forgotten they had rang the bell, sorry sir!" said Adam quietly

Charlotte knew he was lying but he knows he can't tell the truth to the science teacher

"Okay next time, don't repeat that again!" said the science teacher

"Thank you!" said Adam and he sat down on his seat quietly with his face fixed on the board. Charlotte turned sideways to peeped on him and his eyes met hers. She quickly turned her attention to the board and she felt awkwardly inside of her instead of the malicious face she normally threw at him it's now a face of concerned for him. "This is strange feelings." thought Charlotte inwardly and felt regretful for him

"Are you okay?" asked Vivian

"Yes am okay!" said Charlotte smiling at her friend

"Finally you can talk to me now Hun?" asked Vivian unhappy

"I'm sorry Viv, I've been busy studying ahead of the upcoming exams. please don't be mad at me." said Charlotte gently and Vivian smiled back at her cheerfully

The following day at school, the class prefect announced to the students of the upcoming quiz between the other schools, competing with them.

"So class, the VC will choose the best candidates for the quiz, before the school closed for the day." said the CP frankly

"I know I'll be chosen anyway." said Princess proudly

"Is there a prize for the winner?" asked one girl

"There is always a prize, remember last set that graduated was second position he was given money but the first position was given scholarship and money too but that person was not in our school. It's better our school carry first position this time around it will be great honor to the school." said CP thoughtfully

"Wow, that's nice!" said one boy grinning

"Charlotte I pray they choose you for the competition!" said Vivian cheerfully

"What about you don't you want to be selected too?" asked Charlotte surprised

"I wish I can read wide like you, but you know I love other things am good at!" chuckled Vivian

"Duh! Others things like what?" asked Charlotte grinning

"Fashion parade, dancing and singing. Things like that you know." said Vivian cheerfully

"Hmmm, I see. it's good anyway I mean for you." said Charlotte chuckled

"Naughty girl, let's go for lunch or you're not going again today?" asked Vivian suddenly

"I will, naughty girl." replied Charlotte smiling They both left the classroom for their school cafeteria.

"Thank God, am not eating alone today," said Viv softly

"Hmmm, I guess you miss my presence." said Charlotte grinning

"It's not funny Charlotte, you know some times Caleb joined me here and other times those crazy two girls from Art class, will just popped from nowhere looking for my trouble." said Vivian frankly

"Oh really am sorry," said Charlotte pleading " I bet you'd served them back their rudely behavior." added Charlotte grinning

"Yeah I'd served them back cause I hate rubbish and I won't give anyone a second to look down on me." said Vivian smiling

"That's my girl!" chuckled Charlotte

"Yup!" replied Vivian gladly

"Hey Charlotte, hey Viv!" said Caleb suddenly

"Oh Caleb!" said Vivian smiling at Caleb admirably

Charlotte sensed Vivian smiling happily at Caleb and guessed there was something going between those two, ever since her absence from the cafeteria.

"Hi Caleb." said Charlotte gently

"You're back, I guess!" said Caleb grinned

"I didn't travel anywhere, duh!" said Charlotte smiling and she caught sight of Adam. He has already stood up from his seat and heading outside.

"He didn't touch his food." thought Charlotte inwardly to herself and she sensed something was wrong with Adam "But what's my business if he's not eating his food?" said Charlotte to herself inwardly

"So next week is your birthday Viv!" said Caleb suddenly

"Yeah how did you know?" asked Charlotte suspiciously

"No one, I just found out myself." said Caleb

"Now you know her birthday, Caleb!" said Charlotte looking at him suspiciously

"Yes, why should I not know Viv s birthday, that'll be so bad of me." said Caleb passionately

"Awwww!" said Charlotte softly

"I'm blushing, thanks dear." replied Vivian gladly

"Excuse me guys," said Charlotte, she quickly stood up and went straight to the library

At the library, Charlotte was checking for the books she was going to read and finally she picked one from book shelf and started going through it on her way to her seat. Charlotte accidentally bumped into Adam and the books she was holding fell down

"You again, watch your step." said Adam angrily at her

"I'm sorry," said Charlotte quietly and she bend down to picked her book by herself. Adam left her on the spot and didn't bother to help her picked the book on the floor.

"What's this!" Charlotte spotted Adam's property that fell down from him accidentally on the floor. She picked it up and read "The answer to all your quiz questions!" read Charlotte and she thought to herself "I think this is what I need for the upcoming quiz for the scholarship I need to gain access to University, but anyways I won't take it from him, I will return it to him." Charlotte stood up from the floor and walked over to his desk.

"Yes what do you want?" asked Adam looking at her bewildered

"That's for you I guess." said Charlotte, she dropped the book on his table and left immediately to her seat.
