The sound of tires rolling atop the muddy ground, joined by the subtle mush of the horses' hooves digging into it, were the only disruptions to the silence of their journey. Ruck remained quiet, while Ryan seemed to just stare into space. However, he was just reading the overwhelming number of things he had to get done.
Ryan glanced at Ruck's character profile again. Unlike every other person, Ruck seemed to trust and be interested in him quite a lot already. He could finish Ruck's quest easily if he played it right.
"Can I ask why you brought me? I mean, I'm honored, but just curious." Ruck's gaze was still set outside the carriage window, his words the first disruption to the long silence.
"Why not? I find you interesting," Ryan gave a calculated reply, like he so often does.
A chuckle escaped Ruck's lips, followed by a sigh as he turned to Ryan. "Really? That's a step up from not caring if I died."
