“Do I have to worry about any Back to the Futureshit here? Michelle never made that clear.”
Jesse shook his head. “No. If we did, this whole mission would be a failure from the start.”
“What mission?”
As she crossed her arms without moving from in front of the door, Jesse realized she didn’t intend to let them leave the room until they explained. Her eyes flashed, a hint that her patience wasn’t going to be infinite.
Gideon’s gaze swiveled back to her. “The one where you and a lot of very good people don’t get killed. And since when do you have a key to this place? I could never talk you into taking one.”
She ignored his question. “I can’t believe I’m actually going to say this, but…are you from the future?”
“No,” Jesse said softly, finally stepping out of the narrow tub. “We’re from a parallel dimension. See, dimensions are stacked up like…”
“Pancakes,” Mary provided without missing a beat.
Jesse smiled. “Yeah, like pancakes. How did you know?”
