Chapter 10 "Unexpected Gains"

It dawned to Ruan Wen that her method of just looking around and finding that brooch at every stall one by one is stupid!

She was a person who can feel energy flactuations, she's a practitioner on her way to become a cultivator!

'Why am I doing this instead of using my strengths?'

With that in mind, Ruan Wen tried to spread her perception stretching it as far as she could reach. It was the first time she was doing it and was a bit nervous, nonetheless Ruan Wen managed to do it!

With no time to savor her success, Ruan Wen proceeded to look for the brooch. Unfortunately her perception can only go as far as in ten meters radius, but that was enough to help her find the brooch faster!

And in no time she found herself in front of the stall! Immediately locating it amongst all the other brooches piled it was piled together with.

The brooch was just as she imagined, it was very vintage looking, beautifully carved, conch shaped brooch with the wide opening as if it will spat out a pearls anytime!

"That one's very special!" the owner of the stall said, "I'll give it to you for 50 if you buy another one!"

"Thank you sister!" Ruan Wen called then asked, "Can I pay for this first?"

The stall owner ageed and exchange some more banters with her, Ruan Wen happily paid for the conch shaped brooch first and placed it inside her space in an instant with the cover of her purse.

There wasn't much things on the stall that was like the conch brooch perhaps besides a pair ornamental old copper hair pin comb encraved with a variety of flowers while the others, although all of the antique jewelry there did eminate some energy, it just meant that it was real antiques.

And so without hesitation she picked the pair and started to choose for another brooch as promised. There were a lot of options with different shapes and sizes, all of the very beautiful!

Her eyes were especially caught by a gorgeous amber brooch pin, Ruan Wen ended up buying four other brooches, a soft blue bird cameo, a flower clay, and what looks like a late victorian brooch besides the pair of hair comb pins!

'I can finally breathe!' Ruan Wen felt like a heavy burden was lifted from her shoulders. In her head she was doing her victory dance, very happy with her small win!

Well scratch that it was a big win, a very big one at that! Just for this, it was worth all the work she put in finding this place and the delay in her plans.

Just as she left, the female lead and her group made their way to the same stall. As if being directed, Yu Xiyun went straight to the pile of brooches. Ever since a while ago she felt as if something was pulling her to this very stall, she felt agitated like she needs to hurry but with everybody with her, she can't just go off by herself.

Yu Xiyun felt as if she needs to find something important in this pile but just can't find it! She felt a sinking feeling, same as she felt previously out of nowhere like she lost something very important to her!

She kept sifting through the various brooches still hoping to find it but deep down she knows that important thing she was meant to find was not there anymore and it just makes her feel so frustrated!

Seeing this, Ruan Wen cannot help but snicker. It was her luck to find it sooner, and it was just a shame she doesn't have much time to browse through the street. Anyway, she still have to attend with her other plans for the day and can always go back here after!

Zhang Yan noticing that Yu Xiyun was looking at the brooches, he wanted to offer to buy some antiques for her to brush some existance for himself but felt that that would be a bit tacky and wanted to buy her a small trincket instead but throughout their walk, nothing had caught Yu Xiyun's eye. And by the looks of it Yu Xiyun did not find anything she liked amongst them. So he can only note for himsepf that Yu Xiyun wanted to look for a brooch, and decided he will gift one to her on her upcoming birthday!

Little did Ruan Wen know, Zhang Yan still managed to gift Yu Xiyun a golden finger in the shape of a brooch for her birthday gift. Although it was a bit inferior to the one he was supposed to give it is still one!

If Ruan Wen knew of this she would have flip a table and ask just how many brooches contains a golden finger? Its not like they're cabbages you can pick up at the side of the road, right??
