27 Arc 2 Chapter 6

Tian Yi dazedly looked up at Tian Mei. It was his first encounter with the female lead of this world and he had to admit she looked exactly like the Holy Mother she was trying to portray. With her large doe-like eyes, soft delicate skin and a figure that made her seem like she would shatter if touched with any force. A maid walked up to her and lent her a hand to help her to her feet. Another maid also approached Tian Yi and offered her hand to support him to his feet. When Tian Yi firmly stood facing Tian Mei he didn't know what to say. Standing there wordlessly made the atmosphere awkward, however Tian Mei broke the silence.

Tian Mei's eyes softened as they were covered with a sheen of wetness. She stood weakly with the support of her maidservant as if the fall had seriously injured her. She opened her pink lips and a sweet voice uttered, "Older Sister, What a surprise seeing you here. I apologize for not noticing that you were in a daze and not aware of your surroundings. It is my fault and I hope it hasn't caused you any injury. Please do not mistake me when I say that perhaps you should have better maidservants who may guide you during your journey. They don't seem to be doing their job and I hope that it will not injure you and others. Please do advise if I have said anything wrong."

Tian Mei had an earnest look on her face as she implied that Tian Yi was wrong for not paying attention and for wrongfully injuring others. She guided the opinions of others to regard Tian Yi as a careless and arrogant individual for not caring about potentially hurting others.

[Damn Host, she's an expert! Look at all the dirty looks that the eunuchs and maids are giving you. It's 100% certain that the news about your 'terrible attitude' will be spread throughout the palace and maybe even the city by tonight. No wonder she's the female lead. She has some serious attacking power! What're you gonna do?]

Nothing

[Wait what? Nothing?] Yup, Host is brain dead. It's official. And I actually thought he had grown up a little (╥_╥)

Tian Yi stood there not saying or doing anything. The atmosphere stagnated again but it gave everyone time to compare the two 'women'. Tian Mei looked delicate and soft as her hair was pinned up into a complicated hairstyle. Her spine was rigid and she held herself straight with a proud and righteous air. However Tian Yi's temperament and looks greatly contrasted her look. Tian Yi had a willowy figure with a creamy and healthy complexion, her hair was loosely tied up with strands framing her face. There was a languid strength in her body that coudn't be matched with a frail body type of Tian Mei's. No matter how proudly and righteously Tian Mei held herself, she still lost out to the aloof and indolent temperament of Tian Yi. The surrounding servants could clearly notice that Tian Yi looked more calm, graceful and magnificent compared to Tian Mei. Her silence spoke volumes. No matter what Tian Mei said, she didn't dignify it with a response causing them to think back to what was said. Looking back at Tian Mei's words it seemed to indirectly blame Tian Yi. How could this goddess known for her kindness and magnanimity try to indirectly try to create a stain on Tian Yi for such a small matter? They must all be over-thinking things.

Tian Mei could feel the strange looks directed at her and was momentarily confused. Weren't they supposed to be directing those looks towards Tian Yi? Tian Mei realized that something was off and decided to end this encounter as fast as possible. "Anyways I hope Elder Sister doesn't mind this matter too much. I wish you an enjoyable day, I must excuse myself." Tian Mei grasps her maidservant's hand and tries to glide away but it just seems like she's fleeing.

[Woah Host! How did you know that this would work out?]

I didn't...I just realized that there wasn't really anything else that I could do. So when you don't know what to say, just don't say anything.

[Host...I feel like you've grown up!] When did my baby learn to have complicated thoughts?

Tian Yi didn't grace Ni Ni with an answer as he continued on his way to Feixiang's courtyard. For some reason there was a tingling that started in his stomach and spread to his chest. He didn't want it to stop. His mind was filled with thought about Feixiang and what he had planned for the night.

Ni Ni I feel a tingling in my body from my stomach to my chest, what do you think it is?

[It's probably gas]

Oh, I thought it was related to the constant thoughts I've been having about Feixiang...and now it's travelled to my toes and makes me feel floaty.

[Woahhhh Host! It's definitely not gas. I think it's probably anticipation. Would you say that you're looking forward to it? Like you keep looking at the sky to see if it's dark yet?]

Yes, how did you know?

[OMG My Host is growing up again!] Damn...Feixiang you work faster than Yixuan! It took Yixuan so long to get him to agree to a date, and you only took like a few months.

Tian Yi decided to ignore Ni Ni. She seems to always have those moments where she just says incomprehensible things, she probably has unresolved issues. Ni Ni's mind voice: Hey Host what are you thinking!

Learning that his tingles are caused by 'anticipation' he wants to run to the courtyard but is constrained by the customs. His complicatedly layered robe, though gorgeous, impedes any speed walking. He holds his maidservant's hand as he is forced to listlessly advance forward. Clearly today is not his day because he is once again waylaid by an annoyance. This time it is his useless father surprisingly not accompanied by any of his court companions. His face is perpetually stuck in an expression of superiority. His father, Tian Wen, gestures for all of the servants to move out of earshot and arrogantly regards Tian Yi in front of him.

[God! If there was anyone I hated the most in this world it would be this disgusting scumbag. Why do you think all of his kids turned out the way they did? He spoiled the fuck out of that Holy Mother princess, brainwashed that stupid brother of yours and completely ignored and neglected the original Tian Yi. The one that caused this entire mess is this bastard! If only I had a body I would slap the shit out of this guy! Host! Slap him for me!]

Tian Yi listened to Ni Ni and immediately slapped his father hard across the face

[OMFG I didn't mean for you to literally SLAP HIM! We're so fucking screwed...]

What do you mean? You told me to slap him?

Tian Yi was visibly confused. Tian Wen stood there in shock with his hand touching the cheek that was slapped. His was rooted to the ground and his eyes were unseeingly focused in front of him.

[WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO? OMG WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?]

Calm down Ni Ni. I'll handle this.

Why does that not reassure me one bit? Ni Ni bit her nails.

Tian Wen finally shook himself out of his reverie. He was still stunned as he glared at this useless son of his. When had Tian Yi ever mustered up the nerve to think he could raise a hand against his own father? "Tian Yi! You dare to slap your father? Have you forgotten your place? You feel arrogant now that you have entered the palace?" Tian Wen hissed at Tian Yi. Tian Yi met his father's gaze apologetically and responded, "I'm deeply sorry father. I honestly did not mean to raise my hand against you. There was a mosquito that had been determinedly pestering me and I had finally found a chance to exterminate it. Unfortunately I mistakenly hit father. Please punish accordingly for my great crime!"

[...Host...that's the excuse you're going with? But Lol your father is the largest mosquito alive, pity that a single slap can't kill him.]

Tian Wen stared at Tian Yi suspiciously but had to reluctantly accept his response. He would never believe that this cowardly son of his would ever have the nerve to go against him. Anyways this son had some use so he couldn't prematurely cause any rift between them. He let out an unwilling smile, "My good son it isn't your fault, it is the fault of the blasted mosquito for arriving at the wrong place at the wrong time. Do not blame yourself. My good son I wish to speak to you of this favor I wish of you." Once Tian Wen thought about what he needed his smile turned sickly sweet. Tian Yi had no choice but to engage his father in conversation. "Yes Father, please let me know how I can be of service to you. It is this son's greatest honor to help his father."

Ni Ni gagged at the vile conversation. Tian Wen looked exceedingly satisfied at Tian Yi's response. He nodded to himself of course this cowardly son would never go against me. "My good son, there is an official that frequently enters the palace to visit the Emperor and leaves from a different path. I need you to find out anything about him. Like his family or his place of residence. I'm sure you know how to catch his attention. I will be awaiting any information you find. As your father I hope you will do me proud!" Tian Wen clapped Tian Yi on the shoulder. Tian Yi subserviently bowed to father, "Yes father, as you wish."

Footsteps sounded from the other end of the hallway so Tian Wen speedily leaves after giving Tian Yi one more meaningful look. Tian Yi stood in place as he tried to digest all of the information.

Ni Ni, what does he mean when he said I know how to catch people's attention?

[That bastard! He means that you're beautiful so he wants you to use your looks and seduce the guy. Lol I bet he never would have imagined that technically asked you to seduce yourself.]

Tian Yi shook his head and threw the conversation with his father to the back of his mind. He gestured for the servants to come back to his side and grabbed the maid's hand to walk towards Feixiang's courtyard. Tian Yi wanted to stride there as fast as possible before any other annoyance tried to block his way.

Tian Yi safely reached the courtyard. Looking up, the sky had already started darkening as Tian Yi stepped into the hall for receiving guests. His anticipation caused his steps to slow down rather than speed up. Every gradual step towards their sleeping quarters heightened his anticipation. Finally entering the room he looks around in wonder. He never expected Feixiang to do this.

Ni Ni was also blown away. Damn this player got moves. Host is totally gonna get eaten. I'll light a candle for you Host!
