Change of fates: The assassin wife takes over

[Status: Ongoing] ***I update when I can and have time*** ~~~~~ "I can't help but love you, even though I try not to." ~~~~~ “Every time you speak all I hear is the shrieking of a dying cat!” “Well, every time you speak I want to strangle myself!” They both shared a small silence after their statements. “Screw you, Lewis!” Clair humphed and turned her heels, changing her direction to her bedroom. “Lewis? Did you just call me Lewis?” James’s eyes turned wide as he marched after her. “Yes, and?”
“Well screw you too Ainara.” Clair gasped. “You dirty little-“
“You started this first!” Oh, she begged to differ. “You man child!” “Are you seriously speaking right now? You’re acting like a child yourself!” “Whatever I’m out of this stuffy palace!” “If you’re going to run away at least don’t announce it. Look how that turned out for you last time.” He mocked. “Well, third times the charm! L-E-W-I-S” She raised her hand picking up her pace as he still followed behind her persistently. He suddenly stopped and said, “Fine. You can try to run away I don’t care.” Clair halted her steps and turned around. “Really?” She asked. He could imagine literal hearts in her eyes right now. Not responding he turned around and walked to the opposite direction where his room was, only to realize they had the same bedroom! He then turned around and entered their room, slamming the door shut. Clair scoffed and ran down the hall to make her grand escape. ….. A few minutes later, If the guards who were trying to help up their unconscious fellow guards, didn’t witness their King pick up their Queen and drop her on his shoulder like a bag of potatoes, they would have thought he was carrying their Queen’s corpse. With her head hanging low Clair groaned. “You said I could escape.”
“No, I said you could try.” ******* Cold-blooded.Cruel.Demoness.Killer. That’s what they labeled her as, not that they were wrong. She was feared amongst all killers, many said the devil himself was afraid of her. But others insisted she was the devil herself! This was the way she survived, the way she trained herself for the most important day of her life. The day she could take revenge on the man who had stolen all her family members from her. Saved by her adopted father in the attempt to give up on her own life, she received a new identity and chance. Just when she thought she was able to put her past away, someone shows up with the intention of marrying his son off to her. Since when did she get men as offerings? Sure she was a goddess, but guys chill out! "It was love at first sight!" Her adopted father insisted. The way they both tried to strangle each other as soon as they met, was love at first sight? Chapter Sixty-Six: Gossiping Demon

James rolled his eyes when his nanny's eyes lit up in hope for him.

Yes, his own nanny held no hope for his love life and she was quite bright to see Clair's interest in him.

Lady Weld then gave him the new key to the lock and left to make sure no one would disturb their time.

"You're welcome." Clair proudly said as they walked inside the room.

"Wow, thank you. Lady Weld needed a companion to help her badmouth me."

"It was an honor." Clair then looked to the modern built room.

Among the old design outside, this one was much more different.

There was a kitchen, a small sitting area, and on top of a tall platform was a bed with black bed sheets.

Beside it was a glass door that led to the large shower.

"Your shower is the size of my room," Clair commented.

"Yes. rooms are quite large here. This is not my room but a resting place where I go when I need some time to myself."

"I would come here every day if I were you as well." Clair agreed and looked at the cupboard filled with different candies and treats.

"Not shareable." James shook his head.

"Should I complain to Lady Weld about this? I will not marry a man who refuses to feed me candy. I love candy!"

"Well….technically we are already married."

"Well, technically, this marriage can't be fully accepted unless there is a ceremony. It is a royal wedding after all."

"Unless you have any other lady consider?"

"No." He rolled his eyes and opened the cupboard.

"How kind of you! I'll try to put in some kind words for you with Lady Weld. She's quite a unique lady. I like her."

James mumbled a curse knowing damn well Lady Weld would gang up with Clair to bully him. He would keep them apart!

"Do you want to change? The fireplace is on, it will get warmer in here."

"Sure! Do you have anything I can wear?" She asked. "The clothes are a bit small, your highness. Too tight around the chest area, I feel like I'm suffocating." She added with a teasing tone.

Actually, she was lying because she wanted to wear one of his shirts, but it was still a bit tight so it wasn't a complete lie.

"One, James will do just fine and two you should have told me earlier. I'll get a bathrobe for you."

"Eh, Lewis sounds better."

"No, not happening!" He shook his head and headed inside the bathroom to pick out his bathrobe and give it to her.

"Oh, come on, Lewis is a pleasant name. Why do you resent it so much?"

"Not happening!" he yelled from the bathroom, refusing to accept it.

Clair chuckled and sat down on the comfortable sofa. Her mouth turned into an 'O' when she saw the huge tv in front of her.

Whoa, she wanted to play so many movies there.

She then looked for the controller sneakily.

When she heard James coming back, she placed her hands behind her back and asked, "It's too big, isn't it? You know what I grew rather a fan of your shirts."

"I have some in the closet, use them." He answered, narrowing his eyes.

"Great!" Clair then walked into the open closet full of his clothes.

"Ooh," Her eyes wandered everywhere in amusement.

"Whoever said you're plain is totally wrong. You're a fashion master, please wear these outfits often."

"It does not suit the occasions I attend." He responded.

"Then wear it for me."

She heard him chuckle in response, and with a smile; she removed her clothes.

When she was only in her underwear, she glanced at him from across the room. She watched him put down some snacks on the coffee table in front of the sofa and turn on the tv.

"Yes, I love movie nights." She mumbled.

She was about to remove her bra for her comfort, but when she felt someone's eyes on her, she turned her head around.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." He turned his head and continued setting up snacks.

'I'll spare him.' She smirked and picked out one of his t-shirts. It reached her thighs and was super comfortable.

It also had his scent.

"Are you sure you're a fan of my shirts and not me?"

"Nope, it's definitely the shirts." Clair put on his slippers, and she noticed and folded her clothes nicely.

When she was done, she closed the closet door and headed towards him.

She was completely unaware of just how comfortable she was around him and how she had arrived at the room he treasures the most in this palace and had taken over it.

Not that he minded, it was nice to see her so comfortable in his place and around him. Yes, he enjoyed the invasion.

James turned off the lights and turned on the lamps.

He then tossed her a pillow and blanket.

While she opened their snacks, he removed his coat and his shoes.

He then walked towards her and sat down.

He watched her switch her position in criss-cross applesauce one and look down at her snacks like a small child, content with its candy.

"You know, your social skills aren't as bad as Lady Weld says them to be."

"You think so?"

"Hmm, I can actually relate. When I met my father and my brother, I was different, much different from now. I didn't know how it felt to be loved and- anyway, the point is they urged me to learn social skills 'cus I was too frigid."

"I was mad and didn't want to talk with people, so I locked myself up for three days and watched endless movies, and tv shows. And that's how I made friends with Yaci, Jennifer, and other people I hold dear to me. I think it helped!"

"Oh, I understand why you compare everything to movies now." James shook his head and laughed.

"What? They base movies on real-life, sure they might exaggerate a few things but not everything." Clair defended herself.

"I guess I must learn too." James nodded his head, staring into her eyes for a bit and then clearing his throat.

He looked at the tray with a letter on it, and he furrowed his eyebrows.

"What are those?"

"Invitations probably." James reached out to them and read through the name of the senders.

"It's an invitation to a birthday banquet from last year, from Lady Blair Bradberry…." He read.

"Oh, heck no! Don't mention that gossiping demon in front of me." Clair glared at him.

"That's a very accurate description of her. Have you met her?" James asked in amusement.

"Humph!"

Lol, another thing James and Clair have in common: resentment to Lady Blair!
