"Ah... yes?" Gabbie replied.
Clair sighed. "Okay, thank you for visiting me. Right now I'm busy so can you add your number here."
Gabbie nodded and took the phone from her hand. She clumsily typed her phone number and added her name.
"You can text me a date, time, and place I will meet you there." Clair had no intention of being cold to Gabbie. She seemed like a pleasant person, and she also has information about James that she doesn't.
Okay... fine.
The ladder is the real reason she wants to meet Gabbie again.
When she saw the woman get up to leave, she stopped before opening the door.
"If I'm not wrong you are 5 months pregnant correct?" She asked.
Gabbie let out a small gasp. "How did you know?"
Clair smiled. "You should stay here and wait... LEWIS will be here in a few minutes."
Well, to be honest, she had only felt that discomfort earlier in her chest because she knew Gabbie was pregnant. To think it might be her husband's…..
"See, I told you to stop watching those stupid TV shows." Yaci chuckled when she saw her come out.
"Shh, I know." Clair raised her finger and placed it on Yaci's lips.
She took a deep breath and turned to the elevator.
"Why are there so many guards up here?"
Yaci frowned. "I'll handle it."
Clair nodded her head. "Report to me what's happening." She placed her palm on her head and walked towards her office.
She collapsed in her chair and closed her eyes.
"I NEED FOOD."
Yaci urged her to eat her lunch, but she insisted she wasn't hungry and now she was suffering the consequences.
She thought about the 'stupid TV shows' she had been watching a few months ago.
"Are you really going to allow her to influence you?" Yaci rolled her eyes when she found Clair searching through the list of Drama/Romance shows that Luke recommended.
"That's why his romance experience is so trashy. He can't even flirt with me properly." She huffed.
"Shh, the mother-in-law is about to give the girl a 5 million check." Clair ignored her.
Clair shook her head and opened her eyes. She turned on her computer and got back to work.
"God, I should have listened to her...now I'm imagining things."
She looked at the report on her table and she furrowed her eyebrows.
The font was just too small, and it was a very long and detailed report. She had no energy to read it herself. Anyway, she liked the way Yaci reported things so she would just ask her to read it out loud.
'Yaci has such a calming voice.'
'Not you having ambiguous thoughts about your employee!' She scolded herself and then giggled.
"I should flirt with her more." She smirked, knowing how flustered Yaci gets.
She started doing this when her brother got interested in Yaci. After starting to teach her brother how to flirt, she asked him to 'watch and learn.' from her.
…..
Yaci felt extremely offended.
"I do not permit you to enter the CEO's office. She did mention someone will come to pick up the lady in the waiting room but no one can enter her-"
"DUDE!"
She almost felt her professional image fall because of how irritated she was.
She cleared her throat when the surrounding employees froze in shock.
Not only did a strange man with a bunch of guards go in, but now the most respected and most professional worker in the entire company acted out of character,
Just what the hell was happening.
Yaci gulped when she saw a little girl coming out from the elevator. She had a ponytail on, a headband, a pink fluffy dress, and a suitcase behind her.
"Aww, she's so cute!"
"Oh, she's back!"
"The CEO's daughter is back!"
"Haha, I'm so glad you guys are excited to see me again, but I have to go see my second mommy so I can't give any autographs!" The little girl rushed towards her with her eyes set on the CEO's office.
Yaci facepalmed.
"God tests me every day." She mumbled.
James frowned when the little girl stopped in front of him.
She seemed to ask him who he is with her expression.
She was about to tell him something when she looked towards the CEO's door and her face brightened up.
"Mom!" She handed him the small suitcase (which was unexpectedly heavy) and she ran to the woman's arms.
He was utterly shocked.
The little girl looked like she might be about 5 or 6 years old and she called Clair 'mom.'
Five years ago they….*ahem* no, he's just assuming things.
Does that mean that she's….
No way….
Clair, who did not understand what was happening or what ideas were forming in a certain someone's head, came out to check things out.
"Lewis, you two have a daughter?" Gabbie, who came out to check out what the commotion was, saw everything and assumed the same thing as James.
"I-"
"What?" Clair turned to Yaci, who seemed like she would explode in anger.
She took a deep breath and to fix things herself.
With the little girl in her arms, she looked around.
"What are you all doing there? Did you all forget these are still work hours? You all are supposed to be guarding the building, why are you forming a party outside my office. Yaci take care of her and Sanders, please escort the lady out. And you-"
She turned to James.
"I don't even know." She handed a pouting toddler to Yaci and went inside her office to relieve her sudden stress.
James nervously followed her inside her office.
"Is she really ours?" He asked.
Clair covered her mouth with her palm. She wanted to burst out laughing, but she controlled herself.
She was hungry, frustrated, and now this!
"So what if she is?" She turned around and faced him with a serious expression.
James had a blank expression on his face. He seemed to be deep in thought. He faced her again and pursed his lips. "Why didn't you tell me earlier? If you had I would have been more responsible."
Clair grinned, walked around her desk, and sat down.
That's actually my assistant's daughter. We are really close so she calls me her second mom." Clair placed her head on her desk and started sniggering.
James covered his face with his palms, leaning on her desk. "Not funny."
He felt something heavy being lifted off his shoulders. If they did really have a kid, it would be a terrible timing right now. There's too much danger around him. How could he be a responsible father? He's not prepared at all!
"It kind of was... pftt."
"I guess we are both fooled, huh. I also thought your ex-girlfriend came to make some claim on you. We are now even." She cleared her throat.
"Well, LEWIS, she's being escorted out, but I think you can still catch up to her."
James sighed when he heard her calling him by that name.
He took a seat in front of her desk and looked into her eyes.
"What exactly did she tell you?"
"A few things. Interesting ones, actually. But she told me your mother sent her, which is surprising."
"Don't misunderstand. The only relationship I have with her is friendship." He defended. Himself.
"Hmmm, whatever you say. Anyway, let's talk about your mother. How are we going to convince her we are madly in love with each other and won't separate?" She asked so she could have a clearer idea of how she should act in tonight's dinner with his family.
She took out a notes pad so she could ask him details about how his parents are, but when she suddenly looked up, he was already in front of her.
He brought her chair closer, and he leaned in so close that their noses touched.
"I really don't have any romantic feelings for her. I promise." He looked extremely serious.
"I know. She explained already don't worry."
"Then why are you still angry at me?"
"I'm not."
"Yes, you are. I can tell."
"Oh, I guess your EQ isn't as low as I thought, huh?"
Haha, poor James is trying to explain himself but she's still upset.
Let's pray for my brain so that it gives me more ideas and I do a double update tomorrow! >.<
Stay safe~
