8 First Quest

Bourne's hand was being pulled by Ur to the mercenary guild. Even though he didn't want to perform a quest but since she had told him that it was part of the training then he needed to do so. Even if he really didn't really have an intention to become a very strong magician, he wanted to make her happy after all.

Entering the mercenary guild, there were a lot of people inside and everyone also noticed Ur and Bourne. They greeted Ur and Bourne since both of them were quite famous characters in this town.

Ur was a very famous magician and her strength was undoubtable. She also often went on difficult quests which were being posted on the mercenary guild which was why she sometimes needed to leave Bourne for a few days or a week, but it was very rare for her to do that after she had him with her. Unless it was impossible being done by other magicians on the mercenary guild or it was a quest which needed her strength then she wouldn't do it. In the past, she often did that since she felt quite bored staying at her house alone, but when he was with him, everyday was very interesting since he had a good talent at making a story.

Bourne often told Ur about the story from his world and he didn't mind telling her since she had taken care of her. From her reaction, he could tell that he could make use of that story for money in the future.

"What are you doing here, Bourne, Ur?"

Ur was famous, but Bourne was even more famous. Bourne often bought the magical beast which was being hunted by those mercenaries at a higher price than the merchant guild even thought it wasn't much, but it was more profitable to sell it at him after all. Then he sold the magical beast again on the merchant guild for an even higher price. The mercenaries were very happy that they had received more money from him, and he was also happy that he had received money even though he didn't do anything. The only one which was frustated was merchant guild since they needed to buy the magical beast which had a higher price, but even so Bourne's price was very reasonable that it didn't damage their profit that much. Even though they needed to give even more money, the quantity which was sold by him was a lot and the quality was better.

The merchant guild wanted to threaten him, but they couldn't do that since his backing was Ur, who was known as the strongest magician in the town and they were the one who was being blackmailed since he had evidence that they had cheated a lot of people in this town which made them helpless.

So Bourne was happy, the mercenary was happy, and only merchant guild seemed to have displeasure, but wasn't that much since they knew what they were doing was cheating the people in this place. If Bourne wanted then he could blabber their black material and sell it to the newspaper which might damage their interest. If a little money could shut his mouth then it was all good.

It was also the reason why Ur agreed with Bourne's thought last night when he disdained a quest since there was a better and safer way to create money why she should endanger herself. Though, at the same time, she knew that she had power and her heart was very kind which made her decide to help the one who was in need. But she wouldn't force that thought of Bourne since she also didn't really want him to do something dangerous. She also didn't think that it was a bad life when she thought about her lax life with Bourne.

'If only he had been born earlier...'

"We're going to make a quest. If you want to sell your magical beast, you can place it on my store."

"Alright, I'll leave it there."

"....."

"Wait, who is going to perform the quest?"

"Me." Bourne pointed at himself.

"..."

"EHH??? You can use magic?!"

Everyone was surprised since no one expected this boy to be able to use magic. They thought that God was fair to give him a bright mind yet he was unable to use magic, but it seemed that wasn't the case.

"...."

Bourne shook his head and walked toward the quest billboard.

Ur smiled and asked, "You're not going to say something?"

"I'm too lazy. Let's do the quest and go back."

"Alright."

Ur patted Bourne's head, but this time he didn't do anything since he was looking at the quest curiously. He could see that there were a lot of quests on the board and each of them could be divided into different levels from: E, D, C, B, and A.

"No, S level?" Bourne looked at Ur curiously.

"The S level quest isn't going to be posted here and only being posted on the Legal Guild."

"Why?"

"Because it is hard to find an S-Level magician and only some guilds have them. Unless you've shown enough strength to reach an S-Level magician the mercenary guild won't show it to you."

"Is it dangerous?"

"Of course. Each of them might be able to take my life."

"So you've performed it before?"

"I have, but I'm not doing it now."

"That's good."

Bourne nodded and felt glad.

Ur smiled, but didn't say much. "What kind of quest do you want to do?"

"Let me see it first."

Bourne ignored the A-Level quest since he felt that it was too troublesome. He only looked at the low-level quest which was quite interesting such as helping to make a sculpture, perfoming a trick on party, finding a pet, etc. Then he frowned when he looked at one quest which was posted on the board.

"Vulcan?"

Ur also frowned when she saw the quest.

"It seems that you hate this monster?"

From what he could tell Vulcan was some kind of magical beast, but he had never seen it on the snowy mountain around Ur's house.

"Of course, this monster is harmful for women..." Ur told him how she hated Vulcan and how this magical beast loved to kidnap women.

Bourne thought that the fate of the women who were kidnapped by Vulcan would be horrible such as rape or being used to breed a children, but it seemed that wasn't the case since Vulcan only kidnapped a women to appreciate them. Those Vulcans could also take-over a human and make them turn into monsters which were very troublesome magical beasts.

"Then let's take this quest."

Bourne had learned the strength of Vulcan and he didn't think that it would posses a threat on him. There was also Ur as his backing and he knew that he would be alright on this quest.

"Alright, let's take this quest."

Ur agreed and wanted to make those magical beasts extinct since it harmed humanity.

Bourne took the quest and gave it to the receptionist. If he came by himself then he was sure that the receptionist would stop him since he was only six years old , but Ur was behind him which made the receptionist think that it was Ur who wanted to take this quest.

The quest was pretty simple. They needed to defeat the Vulcans which appeared on the side mountain since there were a lot of people who were kidnapped by it. It was a B-Level quest which might even increase to A-Level quest since there wasn't an exact number of Vulcans on the quest.

It was one of the reasons why that he didn't like to perform a quest since sometimes the information of the quest wasn't very detailed which might lead into a danger during the quest.

Bourne decided to ask for more detailed information about this quest since he didn't want to be in danger. He kept asking until he was satisfied.

"Let's go."

Ur nodded and appreciated him since he wasn't in hurry nor did he make a newbie mistake on his first quest. She was quite anticipating how he was going to perform his first quest.
